On the one hand I agree with you. On the other hand, Bob grew up in a different time and was well into his later years when the Internet became ubiquitous. Let's combine that with the literal fact that the internet has been gangstalking Chris for decades. In that context it's easy to see why he would think the world was out to get his family. In my opinion anyway. I don't think Bob was a great guy or a saint or anything, but to me it absolutely makes sense why Bob would think "the world" was out to get him.Yeah, I don’t understand why bob’s insane delusions about some grand conspiracy against their family are so consistently ignored around here. I would argue that Chris’s father telling him that seemingly the entire world is out to get him basically his entire life is as big of a contributing factor to the narcissism as anything else.
To a slow-in-the-mind, how different is the idea that some guy in England is selling knockoff merch of your OC from the idea that the school board is somehow preventing your family from moving away from the district for some mysterious reason?
Bob is honestly an incredibly fascinating character but the farms seems to give him a huge pass because he held down a respectable job, (and, probably also because his socially conservative views,) but he’s as much of a Chandler family member as Chris and Barb. In Chris’s telling a of the godbear incident, it always seems like Bob was nearly as taken by the “revelation “ as Chris, which is incredibly funny. A random troll mashed buttons on a ‘ghetto voice’ soundboard in a prank call and Bob immediately believes it’s an actual person and becomes incredibly racist. He trusted his very stupid son to save their house from an imaginary health department threat entirely on his own. Bob has so many premium lolcow moments, arguably more than Barb, but they’re so often ignored
Who among us *wouldn't* become a narcissist if a huge group of people became obsessed with the minutiae of every single thing we did every day?
