what is your end game with this? are you monetizing this? as a person that has no experience in making websites, why do you think this is a good idea?
I might just be jaded in regards to the community around cobra, but it's a little weird that you've had this registered since 2022. I do see your only other post you've been upfront about that. I'm assuming maybe this is an alt account and you actually mean well. I hope that's the case at least. Good luck and god speed brother.
Oh a newbie trying to take views from Cobes. Fuck off.
I just don't want Josh's visible legacy to be videos made by people like Tar Man. I don't want the real thing being half archives on individuals 8TB hard-drives no one else can see.
After Google brought out YouTube close to 20 years ago, it was always thought that even though YouTube was a website with a myriad of problems (even back then) anything you uploaded there would be watchable forever now that Google owned it. I no longer consider YouTube the reliable vault of video content that it once was and no one else should either. Just a couple years ago Google attempted to introduce a policy regarding inactive accounts, which would include deleting channels if the associated Google account was inactive for two years. They quickly walked that back after the outrage and assumedly suddenly realized it would destroy the value of the website. Because the only two reasons YouTube is the monopoly that it is, is because of it's normie userbase and massive catalog of old videos. The fact they tried deleting channels so easily is enough for me to call the writing on the wall. I'm very confident the KingCobraJFS YouTube channel isn't going to exist in 10 years time, maybe not even a couple years.
Once his channel's gone what's a reasonable and publicly accessible way of viewing most of his videos? His channel as it is now isn't even half a complete collection. AnonymousCasperWY is just another YouTube channel so that's just kicking the can down the road. Kiwi Farms always prides itself on it's archiving, but a 3000 page thread isn't exactly useful for that other than reading the discussions. The cobrapedia might've been a suitable candidate if it hadn't gone offline because of the lack of interest, even when Josh was alive. Wasn't TWU Games one of the main contributors to that website? He's long gone. The current version of the wiki at kingcobrawiki.org is, to my understanding, ran by a different group of people (correct me if I'm wrong). I doubt it's going to get to the level of the CWCki. Peertube is promising but I don't think a P2P video sharing site is as reliable as people assume it to be. Maybe in a few years time the technology could prove itself to work. But LBRY was suppossed to be that and that's gone.
People have been actively grifting off of Josh for at least half a decade, if not double that. With particularly distasteful examples cropping up after his death. You can go to Etsy right now and find fake KingCobraJFS shit merch that's been purchasble for years. YouTube channels like BasedShaman and Rogue, Internet Man make an income doing it and have for years. If I was trying to grift off Josh's death I wouldn't post on a single thread with maybe 200 active readers, at most. You won't find any posts from me on any of the subreddits, The Boglim or any of the shitty Discord servers even asking for advise or feedback, let alone money. You'll never find any examples of me monetizing Josh's death because I never will. Not that I know how'd be able to do that on a memorial site.
You can think I'm biting off my than I can chew, but if any Raj, Khan or Singh can shit out poorly made and terrible looking websites as a career, why can't I make something decent? It looks like shit right now because it's a placeholder. If this project doesn't work out it's
no skin off my shoes. But I'm planning on maintaining this website for years and years and years. I don't think it'd be a lot of work once it's up.
