Kamen Rider - People dressed as bugs riding motorcycles fighting rubber monsters? Sure, why not.

Getting around to getting back on track for this, mostly because someone pointed out that there's a Tycoon/Shinobi crossover special which amuses me and seems to have a decent opening, even if I tend to struggle tracking down the soundtracks for these series.

I've gotten to episode 16 of Geats and getting the rest downloaded. Been a fun initial arc of it, not certain how it's going to follow on from there but feels like I've enjoyed that much of it more than either of the preceding two series at this point of the show.

Late reply but Geats was great. The final arc was a bit messy but considering the slop Reiwa has been (even Saber which was my favorite) a half decent show is the thing to keep me invested.
Gotchard is shaping up to be interesting, if a bit kiddy, but hey, so was Fourze and that turned out great.
God help me I've started collecting the cards.

Thread goes slow which kind of lines up with my viewing. Just passed episode 32 and my take on Geats, no doubt an original one not repeated many times elsewhere, is it very much a show that you need to persist with. The suits turned me off the instant I saw them but when you consider them in the context of the show as it goes on, that they are basically prototypes or "starting level gear" it makes a lot more sense. Similarly a lot of characters need time to shine.
Not on Gotchard but as you say Fourze managed it. Honestly no matter how many times I see it Fourze' first episode made me think of 10 Things I Hate About You.
Happy Kaixa Day!
They look to be having fun

Gotchard is okay. Not nearly as shit as Revice but not as enthralling as Geats.
Rinne is 100% going to be a rider, and she will just as insufferable as Jeanne, if not worse. Toei is learning all the wrong lessons from Power Rangers.

Double posting but this thread is dead so why not?
Gotchard is giving the bland piece of wood Rinne the honor of being the first female rider.
Toei will, in the next series or two have a female Main Rider.
And while reddit and twitter coom themselves to death, toy sales will tank and it will damage rider's reputation for years to come. Rider, my one hideaway in this woke world, is going woke.
Suit looks decent though, NGL

Yes it looks like shit but everything nowadays is a fucking webm file, and converting it is a bitch.

New year new Rider, niggers.
1715274898791.png

The name's new but the chinks have been leaking info about it like crazy for the past month and a half. One of the more prolific of the Chinese leakers, Color, made a mock-up of the design.
SPOILER_1715270555196151.png

The gimmick of the year is snacks, apparently Gavv starts with gummies and chips as collectibles, which he shoves into his horrifying monster mouth belt, turns the crank, and the belt chews it up to transform him. Apparently has a very "Halloween"-sounding standby tune. The secondary Rider is red+white and uses a chocolate gun.

And we already know it's real because apparently someone got a picture of the suit (without the helmet) at some sort of filming session a few weeks ago. He's fighting a monster from Saber for some reason.

Gotchard had some really great suit designs.

Gavv... not so much.

At least the colors aren't as bad as Revice. Whoever designed Revice should commit seppuku.

alright what do i miss from kamen rider, last one i saw was black rx
Where are you from, Brasil?

After Black RX, there were a few movies that weren't really great [Shin Kamen Rider, ZO and J], followed by the death of Ishinomori from old age and heart failure in the late 90s. After that, Toei started to produce yearly seasons, which at first were more mature [like Black] but became increasingly child-friendly [like RX]. Though there was a heavy push for merchandising to start with, since the very first of the new series has a hero with like 11 forms.

This is a quick summary of the series, though don't expect me to rate all of their child-friendliness. Just imagine that the farther in we go, the sillier the premises get.

  • Kuuga: a race of monsters named Grongi is revived and starts a competition over who can kill the most humans to try and become their new leader. Yusuke Godai gets a belt used by a human from the ancient past that lets him turn into a bugman. Like Black RX, Kuuga has many forms.
  • Agito: angelic beastmen called the Unknown working for God start killing people with psychic powers and their families. Shouichi Tsugami has a belt that lets him turn into a bugman to fight these guys. First series with multiple main hero Riders [Agito, G3, and Gills], though they fight each other for a while.
  • Ryuki: people make contracts with monsters to fight in a battle royale in a mirror dimension. Shinji Kido makes a contract with a dragon to fight for the sake of the innocent. Had a ton of Riders.
  • Faiz: undead beastmen named Orphnochs hide among humans and hunt them to eat. Takumi Inui finds a belt that lets him turn into a bugman to fight against the undead beastmen. The Rider belts had cellphones.
  • Blade: immortal beastmen named Undead fight in a battle royale to decide which species deserves to rule over humanity. Kazuma Kenzaki works for an organization that made a belt that lets him turn into a bugman. Everyone had playing card motifs.
  • Hibiki: monsters called the Makamou live in the Japanese countryside attacking people and certain humans turn into monsters called Oni to fight. Hibiki is one of these Oni, using a tuning fork to become a drummer. Original project wasn't to be a Kamen Rider series, but it was turned into one anyway. Musical instruments motif.
  • Kabuto: aliens called Worms that arrived on a meteor on the year of the first Kamen Rider series pull off the Pod People scheme. Souji Tendou walks the path of heaven as the ruler of allhas a belt made by an anti-Worm organization that lets him turn into a bugman. Anniversary series so every Rider was a bugman and Tendou is a Gary Stu for most of the series.
  • Den-O: time-traveling monsters called Imagins travel back in time to try and change the future so that their future isn't wiped out. Ryoutarou Nogami is an unlucky loser who gets a belt and a time travel train that lets him get possessed by good Imagins so they can fight using his body. Here is where the child-friendliness really started. Started the trend of every form getting a theme song with lyrics.
  • Kiva: stained glass vampire beastmen called Fangires eat people. Wataru Kurenai has a dad who fought the Fangires twenty years ago and fights them with the help of his toy vampire bat, Kivat-bat III, by using his half-Fangire blood to become a batman. Motif was movie monsters [vampires, werewolves, swamp things, Frankensteins].
  • Decade: anniversary series. Tsukasa Kadoya is an amnesiac photographer who is in fact a Kamen Rider with the power of every Kamen Rider before him and he travels to alternate versions of past series to see if he can find the place he comes from. Was a shorter series overall.

  • Double: people are using USB drives called Gaia Memories to turn into monsters to commit crimes. Shotarou Hidari and Philip are partner detectives who have belts that turn them into one guy with two powers at once to stop them. Had a cartoon series recently called Fuuto PI.
  • OOO: ancient beastmen called the Greeed are revived and try to hunt down the parts missing from their bodies [which are coins]. Eiji Hino gets a belt that lets him turn into a three-part guy given to him by a talking Greeed arm to stop them. Had a ton of forms due to that.
  • Fourze: students and school staff are using Switches to turn into monsters called Zodiarts to do evil. Gentaro Kisaragi wants to make 1000 friends and gets a belt that lets him turn into a rocket man to stop them.
  • Wizard: monsters called Phantoms are trying to bring humanity to despair. Haruto Souma has a belt that lets him turn into a magician thanks to a Phantom inside of him to stop them.
  • Gaim: there's an alternate dimension with a forest of doom filled with plants that turn you into monsters. Kouta Kazuraba is a slacker who gets a belt that lets him turn into an orange samurai to fight them. It was written by Gen Urobuchi.
  • Drive: monsters called Roidmude are causing terminal slowdown on people. Shinnosuke Tomari is a cop who gets a belt that lets him play with toy cars. He has a car. Cars cars cars cars cars cars cars.
  • Ghost: invisible monsters called the Gamma are threatening Earth. Takeru Tenkuuji is a monk who gets a belt that lets him summon the power of History's Greatest Heroes [and also Thomas Edison] to put on hoodies and fight. Most of its budget went somewhere else to the point where it didn't get form theme songs.
  • Amazons: cannibal monsters called Amazons escaped captivity and are now hiding among humanity. Haruka Mizusawa and Jin Takayama are two Amazons who hunt down the runaway Amazons. It was bloody and gory and actually made for adults.
  • Ex-Aid: a game virus is infecting humans and turning them into monsters. Emu Hojo is a doctor and gamer who gets a belt that lets him turn into a videogame character. Includes a guy whose power-up was 'turn into a motorcycle'.
  • Build: Japan gets split into three kingdoms that are fighting each other. Sento Kiryu is a genius scientist who gets a belt to turn into a two-power guy, like Double minus the other guy.
  • Zi-O: anniversary series. Time is being fucked over. Sougo Tokiwa gets a belt that lets him turn into a time traveler to collect clocks.

There's been series since the start of the Reiwa age but I didn't watch those, I admit, so... someone else may want to do it.

  • Zero-One: Start of the Reiwa-era Kamen Rider. An unfunny comedian named Aruto Hiden reluctantly becomes the CEO of an android and A.I. development company and becomes a Kamen Rider in order to fight against a cyber-terrorist group and rogue androids that threaten to destroy humanity.
  • Saber: A novelist named Touma Kamiyama becomes a Kamen Rider swordsman in order to save the world from monsters created from magical books named Megid while meeting other swordsmen along the way, sometimes fighting against them due to one of the swordsmen being a traitor to their guild.
  • Revice: The eldest son of a bathhouse owner named Ikki Igarashi becomes a Kamen Rider and makes a contract with his inner demon in order to fight against demons named Deadmans, with the executives of the demonic cult seeking to revive their demon lord named Giff. The protagonist is later joined by his younger brother and sister who turn into Kamen Riders themselves.
  • Geats: A 2,000-year old man named Ace Ukiyo joins the Desire Grand Prix, a gaming tournament that gives the winner of said tournament a wish. Fights monsters known as Jyamato as part of the tournament. All contestants of the DGP become a Kamen Rider. Series is modeled after Squid Games and survival multiplayer games such as Fortnite.
  • Gotchard: High-school student Houtaro Ichinose becomes a Kamen Rider and an alchemist-in-training in order to catch all 100 loose Chemies, creatures sealed in cards that can merge with humans and transforms them into raging monsters called Malgams. This series has the distinction of having a female Kamen Rider to be the secondary hero as opposed to being a tertiary one.

oh yeah gavv
Quit double posting, nigger.

Zero-One had some really nice designs in motion. I didn't like the main one at all in still images but it really worked moving.

I liked the designs in Zero-One as well. I was surprised at his final form at first due to its simplicity compared the the previous ones but its debut episode was great. A shame that it wasn't utilized much since it was replaced by Ark One near the end.
