Watched this recently, Good Morning Sleeping Lion, a "web film" made for a Japanese streaming channel directed by Koichi Sakamoto and starring long time suit actor Seiji Takaiwa, who has done stunts for many a Kamer Rider series in a movie with actors in other roles that would be familiar to people who've watched Kamen Rider and other toku series. He plays an ex-mercenary turned harried talent manager for an underground pop idol/aspiring actress (who is also the daughter of a friend who made a last request for him to look after her). She's rather cold towards him, considers him an embarrassing old man for doing things like performing the wotegai dance during her shows to try and hype up the audience, but then she becomes the target of a stalker (played Shun Nishime), who is connected to a gang of adrenaline-junkies played by some familar faces, who commit crimes just for kicks. Of course, he has to fall back on his old "particular set of skills" to save her and make sure she makes it to a big audition.

The story is nothing special, but Takaiwa is a solid lead performer and the final twenty minutes has plenty of action show pieces.

There's a lot more than just Takaiwa in it in terms of famous tokusatsu stuntmen in Good Morning, Sleeping Lion. His main ally his age is played by one of his JAE peers Kazutoshi Yokoyama who played several Sentai Reds alongside Takaiwa (Including Tyranno Ranger in Zyuranger, the same season that Takaiwa was the Dragon Ranger), and worked together on other Sentai seasons - though most Rider fans would recognize him as playing the face behind the Leo Zodiarts.

Plus, one of the best fight scenes in the movie is Takaiwa against Ultraman suit acting legend Koji Nakamura - while Rider fans are familiar with Nakamura as the Metal Dopant in the Kamen Rider W movie, Ultra fans know him as the suit actor behind Ultraman Tiga, Dyna, and Gaia.

The movie's a big love-letter to toku stuntmen in general, impressively so given its small budget. A sequel was announced recently, but they haven't revealed if there's any sort of referential casting yet aside from Takaiwa and likely Yokoyama.

Possibly buyfag related, but a bootleg CSM (Complete Selection Modification) Decadriver is floating around and...it actually looks and sounds damn good.
I own a legit one and aside from the sounds being a bit rougher and the card quality looking like ass, its spot on

New Good Morning, Sleeping Lion 2 trailer.

The cameo casting is pretty stacked.
>Coming back from the first movie are Yokoyama (See my previous post about the movie for a rundown on him) and Katsuya Takagi (Commander Tatsumi of GUTS-Select in Ultraman Tiga, and Kazuya Misaki, the sniper of the Extermination Team from Kamen Rider Amazons)
>Kazuyoshi Nagazawa (Daita "Kong" Kondou in Kamen Rider Fourze's epilogue works as the obese member of the new Kamen Rider Club, has a bunch of random cameo roles in other things directed by this movie's director - Koichi Sakamoto)
>Kashuu Toshiki (Shouichi Tsugami, Kamen Rider Agito)
>Kento Handa (Takumi Inui, Kamen Rider Faiz)
>Masayuki Deai (Bouken Silver and Kyoryu Grey in Super Sentai, Trigger Dopant in the Kamen Rider W movie)
>Kane Kosugi (Rare holder of the henshin hero triple crown - he's NinjaBlack from Kakuranger, Ultraman Powered, and recently became Kamen Rider Daimon in the Kamen Rider Revice Summer movie - oh also he's son of Japanese action star legend Sho Kosugi)

iirc he's also been the English dub voice for Powered in the recent Ultra Hyper Mega Galaxy CG Crossover thing

God bless. All good on taking your time, its just a silly internet forum.
I've also not watched Kamen Rider since Zero-One. I skipped Saber once I saw it was the same writer as Ghost. I heard good things about the current series, I should probably check it out.

The second best character in Saber finally got his own rider form (I don't count Falchion)
These Outsiders episodes are fascinating, and the new kitbashes range from sexy (Thousand Ark and Desast) to butt ugly (Ouja Survive)

Outsiders is absolutely ridiculous. Im waiting for the new episode to get subbed but I love how Ouja just stabbed a man with the mirror shard in his episode.

Still enjoying the hell out of the series though.
Geats has been so fucking predictable, yet so fucking hype.

Geats has been so fucking predictable, yet so fucking hype.
Takashi is refining his writing style and yet borrows so much from his previous works. Zero One, despite being the most reddit of rider seasons (Next to W) had a ton of twists and turns that kept me on my toes. Geats?
Man I called the goddess of creation being Ace's mom from the get-go.
Keiwa isn't nearly as insufferable as Hiro or Vulcan, and thank god Neon is actually getting decent character development (unlike Sakura, who only had development because Kinoshita shoved her in our faces for 3/4 of the shows run). My main gripe are the two evil riders. Michinaga knows that his goals are counterproductive, and yet still pushes on forward like a retard. If he was really that upset about his friend Toro dying, then WHY THE FUCK NOT WISH FOR HIS RESURRECTION?! Nigga its easy!
As for Daichi AKA Nudge Sparrow, I loved him during the Desastar arc, but then...nothing. He is set decoration and has served no purpose. If the Jyamato really wanted extra riders on their side then why not recruit Da-Paan again? He was a much better character compared to Daichi, and actually knew how to fight. Beroba's days are numbered, because let's face it, Buffa is going to be the final villain of the show (also hilarious how fans are simping for her despite the fact she's 15 lmao)
Look I just unloaded a metric ton of rider autism, but I have loved Geats overall thus far. Unless Takahashi fucks up the final 15 or so episodes, I can see Geats being my favorite Reiwa era show.

I think it's more Michinaga is dismantling the DGP so it won't put people's lives on the line to where they kill each other. As for why not bring his friend back, I'm going to bet it's along the lines of Neon's Dad, where he see's "resurrected" versions of Toro as fake

Now that we know the vision driver can see memories of past games, I'm sure we'll find out the details about ol boy's death.

reviving the thread!
Geat's episode 37 aired and holy shit the final form was announced. Geats IX.

The new season, Kamen Rider Gotchard, has been formally announced. Here's the synopsis:
Alchemy is the art of creating gold by combining different elements. One of its mysterious researches included an attempt to create "living things" artificially. In this series, the story unfolds in the present day, where these experiments have succeeded in secret.

The key to the story of "Kamen Rider Gochard" is the "artificial life form Chemmy" created with the best alchemy technology available. Chemmy is a life form made in the image of grasshoppers, SLs, and all other things that exist in this world, and there are 101 of them. They were stored on cards called "Ride Chemmy Cards".

However, they were supposed to have been carefully stored, but they all jumped out of the cards and were released all at once. Ichinose Houtarou, a high school student who accidentally gets caught up in the incident, is entrusted with Kamen Rider Gotchard's transformation belt, the Gotchard Driver, and given the mission of retrieving the unleashed Chemmy.

Chemmy can be a reassuring presence that becomes companions to humans if they resonate with a good heart. As proof of this, Houtarou loads the Ride Chemmy card into the Gatchard Driver, which fuses him with the Chemmy and transforms into Kamen Rider Gotchard.

On the other hand, when Kemmy combines with human malice, it risks giving birth to the "Monsters Malgam". It is the very essence of good and evil, two sides of the same coin.

Houtarou's habit is to say "Gotcha! which means "I got it!". But can Houtarou "gotcha" all 101 chemmy? In September, the curtain rises on a Kamen Rider legend unlike anything you've seen yet!

His schtick is he combines two cards of varying power levels to make a form. The two cards' power levels always add up to 10 - Steamhopper's form is Hopper1 (Power 1) and Steamlinder (Power 9), for example.

In addition, the chinks over at Baidu who leaked the final forms of Geats, Tycoon, Buffa, and Na-go right down to the belt designs confirmed Kamen Rider Decade is returning with a new belt and form as basically the tertiary Rider of the season. Invoice leaks from various digital merchants confirm that Q1 features a "Legend Rider" with a new belt and figure for his new form.

Here's the staff:

Script:
Keichi Hasegawa (Most of Heisei Ultraman, second fiddle writer for W, Fourze, Drive, Ghost, Saber, head writer of SSSS.Gridman and Dynazenon), Hiroki Uchida (Newblood twink crossdresser who's written some alright episodes for a lot of recent tokusatsu shows), "and others"
Pilot director:
Ryuta Tasaki (Director who has worked on every Kamen Rider since Kuuga)
Action Director:
Hirofumi Fukuzawa (Former suit actor who played all the Sentai Reds from Gaoranger to Gokaiger sans MagiRed, became Sentai's primary action director all the way up to Donbrothers)
Special Effects Director:
Hiroshi Butsuda (Not a new or special name, he's been Toei's SFX guy since 1990)
Music
Hiroshi Takagi (Composer for Shinkenger and Lupinranger VS Patrenger plus a bunch of other shit)
Toei Producer (i.e. the important one)
Yousuke Minato (Was an AP for Donbrothers, worked on pre-production for King-Ohger, seems to basically be an Ohmori protege so expect more in the style of Drive, Ex-Aid, Build, or Zero-One)

Show starts on September 3rd, we'll probably see the press-con in early August, there's rumors saying August 8th but I'm not sure.

Finally caught Shin (Anno, not the older one with Ishinomori in it)
Really dug it a lot. I've heard the Shocker Riders part was infinitely darker in the theaters but the home version definitely wasn't.
Lots and lots of autistic details and references, some were a given, some I _really_ didn't expect, like with the wasp chick when the girl believes in Kamen Rider and then the thing from Spirits happened
I'm still grinning like an idiot about that a day later

Geats is ending, and unless they fumble the ending its been the best Reiwa era show we've had.
I don't have hope that Gotchard will be as punchy (no pun intended) as Geats, but I'm a sucker for TCG shit, and the suit looks great.
