Story wise, I think this is where Araki wanted to start leaving JoJo behind and start doing condensed stories. Jotaro in Part 5 is basically a cameo.

Polnareff was basically made extremely paranoid after Diavolo almost killed him. Diavolo made certain EVERYTHING in his past was completely erased. No doubt he was monitoring Jotaro as well, but Jotaro never came looking, even after Polnareff disappeared. But we can assume Jotaro was looking into it very carefully from a distance.

You can basically say they were both moving extremely carefully and he didn't want to endanger Jotaro.

I don't see how you can think it was worse than six, especially with the worst stands, having them be OP or nonsensical with even more asspulls than normal, both hero and villain. I think he wanted to do JoJo in other settings than the one he built, but he didn't need to end it that way. I'm trying to keep out of spoiler territory but I wrote a whole diatribe on it. Its basically incoherent, needlessly
cruel to Jotaro and Joylene and leaves no resolution or closure to the Jotaro-verse at all unless you decide what that is for yourself
. Some of the stand battles are fucking awful, the secondary cast is nowhere near as fleshed out and relies on a ton of assumptions.

I just thought of another problem. SBR is considered one of the strongest JoJo runs. So everyone is going to want them to rush through Part 6, so they'll have to contend to make Part 6 popular overall, when its considered the weakest by most. That's really a creative challenge, not to mention since SBR is going to be expensive as fuck with animating the horses, they need Part 6 to do well. So Part 6 is going to be a huge undertaking and challenge to adapt.

You're all talking about SBR anime and I'm just hoping against hope that we get Purple Haze Feedback.

That said SBR is going to be incredible, just hope it isn't as ugly as Rohan's ova.

I didn't mind Part 6. Joylene was a really fun character and it was fun to watch her evolve over the arc, especially when it came to her relationship with Jotaro. And more than any other MC, she was a fuck-up which was a nice change of pace.
Instead of killing the baby the second they learned its trick she waited long enough to give Pucci the opportunity to obtain it and then when Weather Report was about to finish Pucci off she crashed a car into him. The other MCs may have fucked up at times but they always emerged victorious in the end.

As for the ending I don't find it as controversial as a lot of other people do. It's far more depressing than the rest of the finales (except for maybe SBR given the kid Gyro went through all that shit to save dies like a bitch almost immediately anyways and Johnny's end when it's revealed in JoJolion) but you get the final scene with the cast apparently being given normal lives so whatever. I still prefer it to Part 5 where it ends with Giorno becoming don but no mention of what happens with Trish or Fugo

Oh, part 6 has strengths, don't get me wrong. I do like Joylene a lot. But as far as the end goes...yeah.

I think that's a continuing problem with JoJo I feel. That things just end sometimes with very little closure. 5 I can handle. 6 is pretty bad in that it's the conclusion to the series and Jotaro gets treated disrespectfully IMO given the history with him. It just rubs me the wrong way. And even the bittersweet ending Araki intended with Jotaro and Joylene knowing peace is basically unspoken and assumed. At least give us a Jotaro one last time or something. It was just so cold. It's pretty jarring, especially from something like Jojo. Like I said, I know Akari meant for everyone to live happily ever after and these are still the characters we know, just without part 6 and anything with Pucci, Jotaro not fighting Stand users that kept him away from his family. This fits more in line with Jojo endings, which is why I think it's the correct interpretation and not the nihilistic one. I also think Araki wanted to show the utter defeat and humiliation of Pucci by getting him beat by a child and knowing he failed utterly and ceases to exist. Which is again, in line with Jojo.

I do hope the manga rectified both 5 and 6, endings at least giving a little bit of closure. It's been pretty amazing so far and the anime hasn't let me down yet.

I understand with SBR, but the first Joestar always endures tragedy, so it goes in line with that.

Real talk: You'd think by part 6, outside of the Speedwagon Foundation, with things like time repeatedly skipping 5 seconds, all the chaos, death and destruction stands like Grateful Dead and Green Day caused across Italy (don't forget ships sinking from Notorious B.I.G.), to eventually everyone in Rome (or even the world?) swapping souls and eventually mutate aliens from another dimension, that someone or group would begin to take notice of stands?

Which reminds me how excited I am for part 6. I just love how extreme it gets towards the end with world affecting stands like Bohemian Rhapsody.

How would you guys personally rank the jojos and parts? mine (I'm only 4 volumes into JJL so I'm not including it):

JOJOs:
1. Johnny=Jotaro
2. Jolyne
3. Josuke=Giorno
4. Joseph
5. Jonathan

I don't dislike any of the Jojos though so this list is basically Best to Slightly Less Best.

PARTS:
7
4
5
6
2
1
3

This order may change depending on how the adaption of 6 goes. If they can fix the ending and the stands and keep Joylene awesome, then yes. They're all awesome, but this is most awesome to a bit less awesome.

Well, we can assume that Pucci is the one hiding everything, keeping DIO's will in check, along with Speedwagon for the Joestars. You could probably do like 4 or 5 more JoJos between part 5 and 6 with how much time they skipped. But I think its safe to assume that in that time (I don't think I'm spoiling anything by saying this) Pucci is constantly sending Stand users to fuck with members of the Joestar family (especially Jotaro), causing them endless misery and a living hell. So there was probably even MORE bizarre adventures in between part 5 and 6.
Which never actually happen because Pucci is erased from reality so Jotaro has a relationship with his daughter and only part 1-5 really happens, with probably very little arrow hunting afterward since there's no Pucci masterminding things, so Jotaro can leave that to the Speedwagon foundation.

Like I said, Part 6 is going to be David's biggest challenge. The Stands get REALLY weird and confusing, its considered by many to be the apex of JoJo, the secondaries aren't fleshed out like in any of the other JoJos, which is fine, since Joylene is a great character. I've just got so many questions as to how the fuck they're going to adapt this. Though apparently David has a history of making lame shit in the manga super-awesome, so hopefully they don't disappoint on this front. Technically this is also the culmination of their work too, so it would suck if it was as disappointing. Because this is a culmination of 1-6, people are saying they're going to rush through it (dubious) or try to make it the best they possibly can (more likely). As long as they give it a great send-off, that's good. But just imagine the pressure. Making part 6 good and then adapting SBR, considered among the best of Jojo? Shit. Tall order there.

Not just that, they went a step further in an anime-only easter egg
