Rate me :optimistic: , but I doubt she'll steal Amber's morphine, if for no other reason than that it's not a simulant.
A lot of addicts will use anything they can get their hands on and while stimulants may have been her main addiction, a lot use downers when they need to sleep. Mixing that shit gives them a better high.

Even if Amber lost weight from cancer or just from having a controlled diet in the hospital after surgery, do you think she'd have significant muscle wasting as well? It's not like they can have a physical therapist working on her while she still has fresh stitches, and it's going to take her forever to heal. She's going to be way less ambulatory than before. You lose muscle mass quickly when you're laid up in bed for even a week.

My opinion & opinion only; she's barely mobile now by any reasonable standard. I suspect she'll avoid getting up & walking because: "It hurtz shoooooooooo baaaaaaaaaaaad, guize." I can see her losing muscle mass & what little strength she has quickly, her balance may be screwed up for a bit & I just don't see her slowing down on the eating.

Without serious & sustained effort on her part - bedbound in short order.

This. She already admitted that her laygg limited her mobility before, so having something this severe will be debilitating. Plus she won't pay for something like physical therapy or home health to help her through the roughest period of recovering. I see her mouldering in her new chair until she's physically too weak or until she has hygiene-related infection issues.

I can attest to this after a recent hospital stay. They wouldn't let me check out without a walker and sadly, I actually needed it for two weeks to get around, then switched to a cane.

I have no idea how she'll get around after surgery. It's gonna be brutal for her.

I started watching her channel & a few other death fats initially because I wanted to see how these people lived; how they got to the point where they made it on to My 600 Lb. Life. That show usually glosses over the "how did they get here?" stuff in favour of the often very icky, current reality.

Amber & a few others increasingly strike me at the point where they're just about bedbound & really into M600Lb.L reality.

I knew, previous to watching our crop of death fats, that they protected their food addiction at almost all cost - jobs, marriages, mobility, etc. but didn't really grasp the extremes they'd go to. I like to think I have a better understanding now but to be honest, I still don't really get it.

Let's assume Amber doesn't make it - dies on the OR table or shortly thereafter from complications. How would she be eulogized? She's done nothing of significance in her life; hell, she hasn't met the most basic adult milestones.

I guess in a way it's a good thing that she's not smart or self-aware. She's unlikely to be seized with last minute regrets about all the tings her overeating prevented her from doing with her life.

Hopefully these aren't our gorl's last 2 weeks.

Operating is the smart decision though, even with the risk she stops breathing. You're not going to get significant weight loss off a 500 lbs mentally ill toddler. I assume the doctors are woke about deathfats, anyone of that weight is insane and you're not going to get weight off of them quickly enough (or at all) to justify a delay.

Amber is still talking about weight loss, but that ship has sailed. Even if she literally fasted for 2 weeks, not that she would have the impulse control to do that, the weight loss wouldn't significantly reduce her risk category. It's one of those situations where you shouldn't be sitting at 500 lbs in the first place. She'd still be sitting at 580 if it weren't for the cancer weight loss.

can they put a band around her grossly large stomach and put it back to normal size so she doesn’t feel like she’s “starving herself” if she eats under 2000 calories?

I remember a kid who was slim and healthy, then he was diagnosed with leukemia, and after all the chemo and steroids, he was quite heavy with no hair and terrible acne. He looked bloated rather than just fat, so it was obviously steroid induced weight gain.

From what I can recall, some meds can make you gain. Also, buildup of fluid can cause weight gain. It’s probably pretty miserable for these poor people.

It's miserable but your team manages it. You have a number after which they initiate diuretics and once the meds stop the fluid goes away quickly. The big concern is fluid in the lungs or around the heart (some chemo drugs can cause cardiomyopathy), but you're usually being monitored closely enough for that to get detected early.

I read this as...It's gonna be burial for her.

It might be. The only thing secure knowledge right now?

Taint gonna be pretty. And though I'll observe from a distance here, the whole world is in for some major U tubs screaming.

I 'll gladly eat these words post facto, but there's no calories involved, so fuck it.

I just noticed that an even bigger deathfat than AL also claims to have uterine cancer.

this is late but how were they able to stage Jen's cancer but can't stage Amber's? Just feels like AL is leaving something out...the doctors are jumping right in at her weight to do this risky surgery, rip all of her female parts out and can't do imaging (but they were able to on Jen??) to even see if it's necessary to remove all of it or if she could just get an IUD like Jen has till she loses weight (lol or just dies)

You stage it from surgery. They usually biopsy nearby lymph nodes as well as the tumour/organ they are removing. It means that they have less information than if they were able to do a PET, though, and have no simple way to check for recurrence.

Amber's might be a higher grade than Jen's or a more aggressive type, which would affect the urgency of surgery. It sounds like Jen has adenocarcinoma, while I don't think Amber has mentioned which specific type of endometrial cancer was found.

Amberlynn logic: millions and millions of Chinese people eat rice and they aren't fat - SO RICE DOES NOT MAKE YOU FAT, HAYDURS. In fact rice is very hulthy for a big but hulthy gorl.
That's actually quite popular vegan logic too and many of them look like they rolled straight outta Auschwitz so prehaps there's some truth to it.

If she wanted to be super extra, she could lose 20 lbs in a couple weeks, but she doesn't want to starve herself. She eats enough to maintain at least 4 women of the weight she should be at, but eating any less than that would constitute starving herself. Sure, Jan. :story:
i don't want to be super extra and starve myself.mp4
This right here is why she will never lose weight. She is used to eating nothing but garbage, and in huge quantities. To lose weight, she'd absolutely have to cut back her portion sizes and stop eating all the time, which would cause her to feel hungry, I. E. "starve" until her stomach has adapted. Even the tiniest bit of temporary discomfort is unbearable to her.

I wonder if she'll be on an unrestricted diet in hospital and what her discharge weight will be. On the one hand, she will be fairly sedentary but on the other she will probably feel like shit for much of her stay and they won't be serving her a ton of comfort food.
