The attitude I see a lot is if you bring up Islamic mistreatment of women, the 'philes respond with "Oh, NOW you care about feminism? Where were you when we were marching against Trump????" As if thinking the "male tears" meme is stupid equals supporting FGM. Fucking exceptional individuals.

It also pisses me off. It implies I never gave a shit about women's rights in the past and just suddenly started caring about them, when in actuality, I probably would have even called myself a "feminist" before more or less being driven away from the term by the very same shitbags who worship the very Muslims who would rape and cut their clits off now, and call THAT bullshit "feminism."

At the risk of sounding really edgy, has any religion at all contributed anything other than mindless killing within the past century if not longer? It breaks my trve-leftist heart to see people defending organized religion, and the atrocities committed on their behalf.


To be fair, I wouldn't call the militant homophobia displayed by Islam to be left-wing.

I think western religions are still big patrons of the arts, and some of them run things like homeless shelters and food banks.

I don't understand how you can reconcile being aggressively, sometimes even violently opposed to the idea of a society operating on christian rule because it stifles personal freedom, but also being totally chill with muslims coming in and harassing or killing everyone who doesn't live by islamic law. It's either ignorance or hypocrisy, and if that's your attitude I can't take your opinion seriously either way.

For those wondering how this all happens, the answer is actually really simple. Islam can easily be painted as a victim. It is the fault of Europe and America. They attacked Muslims and harmed their lands. They supported the treacherous Jews. It is all justified. The left loves victims and Islam is supposedly a great one. It also works because people don't know anything. Average person doesn't have a copy of the Quran and does not know Arabic. They believe anything they are told. They trust people claiming to be experts.

A real world example is misquoting of verse 5:32 in the holy and sacred Quran, god willing, and ignoring of verses after it. Everyone from online idiots to Obama have said that Islam holds that "killing one person is as bad as killing everyone." But that isn't what is found in the actual verse. 5:32 says the rule is that killing someone is bad unless it is to avenge/punish murder or avenge/punish those who spread mischief or corruption in the land (how ever فَسَادٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ is translated; with فَسَادٍ, "fasad", usually being "mischief" or "corruption".) This sets up the next verse that actually calls for the kiling of people who commit the vague act of spreading corruption. 5:33 says that exile, killing, or maiming are the only fitting punishments: Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. Apologists can make it appear that the smart and funny Quran, peace be upon him, says something that is most certainly doesn't say. No one knows any better though. These lines are actually used by ISIS to justify violence. It is why ISIS paints its victims as wicked and against Allah. France was labeled a "capital of prostitution and obscenity", for example, so killing sleazy French homos is okay as they are enemies of Allah and clean honest sodomy-free living. (So I guess liberals are right here: it is Europe's fault.)

In the interest of fairness, I will mention that repenting and coming to Allah is a way of gaining forgiveness (Except for those who return [repenting] before you apprehend them. And know that Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. 5:34) Those who choose to live within the rules decreed by Allah do not have to be punished for their past transgressions. This doesn't make up for other specific forbidden acts though.
