Cleaned up a couple of off-topic arguments so we can better focus on the people more worried about Islamophobia than Islamic Extremists going full Snackbar on the infidels.

I think the reason people mock Christianity and not Islam is because deep down they are in fact afraid a Muslim will kill them.
It's not out of respect, it's out of fear.

I absolutely believe that's the case for a lot of regressive leftists. It's probably not even a conscious thought for most of them, but their subconsciouses are keenly aware of what of what happens to those who offend Islamists. They remember the Salman Rushdie affair. They remember what happened to the Dutch cartoonists. They remember what happened to Charlie Hebdo. They remember all the riots and attacks over that stupid YouTube video. They may even remember what happened to Asia Bibi, secular/atheist Bangladeshi bloggers, and other people who have been arrested/executed for blasphemy against Islam. You cannot be living in the Year of our Lord 2017 and be unaware of how violently Islamists react to criticism of their beliefs.

I mean, just think about it. The best thing that will happen to you if you become a critic of Islam is to be branded an "Islamophobe" (already social suicide in the eyes of progressives). The worst thing that will happen is that you'll get fucking murdered. If you become a critic of Christianity, well, all you'll get is fedora jokes and pissed off Christians telling you you'll burn in hell. Which is, you know, a lot better than being murdered by people hoping to send you to hell themselves.
 
Do these Islamophiles also tend to have anti-Semitism beliefs as well, i.e. they also suck up to Palestine?

I'm a believer it's mostly fear driving this sort of denialism too, of more than one flavor.

No thinking person can see all the lunatics willing to kill in the name of a religion who will actually do it and say with a clear conscience that those lunatics aren't murderous fanatics.

Thing is, the denialism doesn't help. The lunatics in question don't care, all they want is the blood of their enemies to be shed and they don't want to show any quarter, no matter how much these fools want to white knight the religion the lunatics claim to adhere to.

In fact, I'm going to go a step further and say they know it's not helping, but if they accepted that, they'd be afraid everyone else who is chanting the same song will think less of them, so it's not just fear of getting killed motivating this nonsense, it fear of being shunned by people just as fearful as they are of rejection.

I honestly think it's more about selfishness.

Leftists in America shit all over christians because they think christianity is responsible for all the shitty laws and social mores that republicans push down their throats. Now Islam may keep women in burkas and not allow them to vote or be treated as people, but those victims are someone else. Christians are the religion that run the republicans here in America and the shitty things they do, they do to me.

In other words, if they don't have to take what shitty Muslims do personally then they just don't give a shit. Because we should all be tolerant of other cultures but only I get to be pissed when one of those cultures infringes on me.

They consider christians "white" and thus oppressors. Muslims are not "white"--though the US considers Arabs to be "white" and has done so since the 1940s--and thus they are oppressed. This allows for a double standard. The toxicity of Islam is acceptable because they lack power (ignore the actual power Islam has in the countries where it is practiced). Compare treatment of Muslims with how the left views the sneaky Jews. Jews, the untrusty devils that they are, make up a staggering 0.19% of world population. They are a minority almost everywhere. Yet they are considered "white" and held to the standards of Europe instead of the standards of others in the middle east. You can also look at Mormonism. Islam and Mormonism have some very similar beliefs. Mormonism is "white" though, so it is okay to mock their goofy beliefs with porn videos (see mormongirlz.com and mormonboyz.com).
 
What about Christian/Catholic latinos? South America is mainly Catholic, yet I never see these liberals shitting about that part of Christianity (but they never really...speak of it either, really). Do they think their new friend Berto is just some hardcore atheist, or are they that racist and think hispanics still worship the sun or something?

I don't remember who coined the term, but I heard Maajid Nawaz refer to the soft bigotry of low expectations and it struck me that it's a perfect description of how the regressive left treats non whites.

To them, white people have to behave perfectly, express the right opinions, think the right thoughts, have the right ideas, and be perfectly accommodating of non whites. PoCs, on the other hand, can mutilate the genitals of their children, murder each other over religion, commit acts of terror on civilian populations, perpetuate the religious beliefs that threaten to drag us back to the dark ages, and much more. But they get a pass because the leftists have no concept that letting them slide just ingrained the problem.

This is a good point that I'd hadn't thought of. It also raises the hypothetical dilemma if a Muslim man ran for President and opossed abortion and supported religious freedom a lá Mike Pence.

That reminds me of the Ohio State terror attack last November where a Somali Muslim tried to murder a bunch of students. The progressives' reactions were about what you'd expect.



But the best one had to be from a faculty member named Stephanie Clemons Thompson. She wrote a Facebook post asking people to be sympathetic towards the terrorist who tried to kill her students.

The idea that you always side with whoever has least privilege, and Jews have their own country and own government and are well integrated into Western societies and have visibly well off members, ergo they aren't that oppressed. Therefore they're fair game.

There's a quote about it somewhere. Need to dig it up.
