I love Goldeneye to death but it's mostly a regular First Person Shooter. The Bond games that came after had that AND Bond doing other things.

That's peak "how do you know it's shit, have you tried eating it?" cope. Saying "only M and Moneypenny" is insane, it's 2/3 of the fucking supporting cast of the franchise. It was bad enough when they made M a woman. You just go into the game's wikipedia page and blasted by non british names.
 
M has always barely been a character, erase M from all the Dench Bond films except Skyfall and nothing would change. Even if Q and Moneypenny dont do much they added flavor which Judi Dench just added being Judi Dench.

Male M doesnt fair much better. M isnt like Control in Tinker Sailor Soldier Spy who has like 2 minutes of screen time but is much more important
 
If you were to completely remove Bond and it was instead it's own IP, would it still be a good game?

For the record, I haven't played it, pretty confident I won't enjoy it based on the gameplay alone, how faithful it is to the Bond series didn't even enter the equation.

I'd say so. It's a solid enough AA Uncharted style movie game, but with more spy nonsense set pieces versus explosions.

The hand to hand combat kinda sucks (i might just be bad at it) but the stealth bits, gun fights, and plot are all good.

7/10, wait for a sale if you think 15ish hours is too short of a game. Depends how much you enjoy movie games.

It doesn't matter, the new cast can be the best actors in the world, propaganda is still propaganda and we've long gone the point where you could give the creators the benefit of the doubt.

A James Bond fan would have hated the fact the franchise turned into "we have Jason Bourne at home". The last good Bond game was Everything or Nothing.

I've played too many games that look exactly like it. It's not a fault of Bond or the writers/IP holders, its videogames in general. If anything I'd rather just watch somebody play it, but I don't have time to watch let's plays anymore.

Edit: The more I envision what great modern Bond game would look like, the more I realise I'm just reimagining Hitman WOA. For real, WOA's gameplay would fit a Bond game perfectly if it wasn't already done as a Hitman game three Hitman games.

The question was what would it been like without the IP.

Also I found a video of all cuteness including walking sim moments you can't skip. Considering the fact this is a 15 hour game, over half of it is no gameplay (at least from the parts I jumped around). Absolutely insane.
 
Does being a heccin' "real Bond fan" involve sucking off every piece of trash slop that has the Bond name on it? Cause I've seen every movie and read all the books and think the new game is ass. I'm not even referring to the woke shit, the game itself looks trash.
 
Personal ranking here. Finished first light. If I had to put out a ranking it goes like this.

1. Goldeneye
2. Everything or nothing
3. First light
4. Nightfire (console)
Don't care enough to rank the rest lmao.

everything or nothing always will be better just for having willem dafoe in it as a proper bond villian. Until they get someone as crazy, that will never be beaten. First light is not the worst game I have played. Which surprises me as I thought it would suck ass lmao.
