Learned helplessness is a helluva drug. Well, it is in Chris's case, Sweet is just a lazy parasite

Yeah, I worked for an organization that supported people with developmental disabilities and except for the ones who couldn't move, most of them worked. And worked hard. It's often physical labor they're employed for. Yes, people with the minds of children have better work ethic that Sweet, Chris, ADF, etc. It's downright insulting really.

The best movie theatre employee I've ever interacted with--possibly the single best retail employee I've ever interacted with--had Down Syndrome. He was visibly, clearly stoked about his job and his enthusiasm was infectious. He was really polite and nice and happy and when he told me he hoped I enjoyed the movie it was clearly sincere and not just perfunctory. He was multitasking and working his ass off and clearly gave a shit about doing a great job while surrounded by lazy high school students who couldn't care less.

I had my encounter with him nearly 10 years ago and it is still embedded in my memory and is inspirational.

People with Down's are often ridiculously nice, and it's almost stereotypical for them to be excellent workers. A lot of them could actually just flat out qualify for disability but choose not to.
 
There's a big difference between people with Down Syndrome or the physically disabled, and the likes of ADF/CWC/Sweet: theory of mind and ego. The former can relate to others, the latter really only see themselves. Then there's that "learned helplessness" @Bungleboy mentioned.

(Of course, not all people with autism are like ADF, CWC, or Sweet.)

I updated OP with my favorite Jon photo. May make some other improvements as well, such as links to his DA, comics, etc., considering this thread is now over 400 pages.

now, only more decrepit somehow. But he looks like more of a clown in the OP photo. Maybe it's best if they start from there and read along the thread, they'll get a sense of how he's deteriorated over time.

Deteriorated? Nonsense! Why all Sweet needs is a workout (one where thugs aren't waiting to ambush suddenly from the shadows) and a hair piece, and he'll look just as he did in half-past 1997!

Yeah, he can't operate a modern washing machine, or Paypal. Gimp is out of the question. Really, I think he has a phobia about learning. Is there such a thing?
