i have a pretty decent laptop that i’ve been using for small scale internet shit but not really much as gaming.

for a while, i’ve been pretty disinterested in console gaming as it mostly churns out jewish AAA games made by indians

ever since i’ve gotten into skyrim and other old PC games with the ability to mod, i am somewhat considering selling my ps5 to get a good gaming computer

i kneel pc gamers. you were right all along

Gaming laptops are a scam. I got a gaming laptop 6 months before spore came out and it was already too slow to run it on Max settings. Should always go for the big boy pc for anyone more serious than college level cad. Don't skimp on your motherboard or your CPU cooler

The true patrician wisdom for as long as I've been into video games has been "buy a nintendo for their stupid party game exclusives, build a PC for actual gaming"

You will never be a real PC gamer, consolefag.
I WANT TO GO INTO THE GAMERS RESTROOM

if i’m going to switch to PC, i would rather custom build mine. you feel more connected that way

I'm being called old in two different ways. You should play Morrowind btw.

partial truths
i’ve been told to play that but im gonna play after i beat skyrim

Don't skimp on the power supply, either. Only time I get cheap power supplies is if they are Seasonic ones. Junky power supplies are ticking timebombs. If you're buying a prebuilt, make sure the brand doesn't use shitty PSUs.

If you hadn't heard of it use PCPartPicker. Makes the process fairly foolproof by excluding parts that aren't compatible with what you're building as you build, and lets you scout out good prices pretty easily (as well as have it keep an eye out for price changes on parts you have your eyes on). Did mine up for a cool ~1k years ago and my little 1660 workhorse has been carrying me since.

i wouldn’t trust the chinese to make my power supply

my budget will probably be 1k-1.5 max. if i decide to go all in, i want to be able to play modern games without much issue

Just make sure you dont give money to pc game devs, if you think corpo indian built garbage is bad just wait till you see the troonslop that exists on steam

Keep an eye on secondhand gpu's. A 20 or 30 series will serve you fine if you're going nvidia. Witcher 3 was pretty much my personal standard for what constitutes a 'beautiful' game and when I'd built my machine the ancient 1660 I got did just fine.

is it worth it if i go nvidia or another brand

I'm not enough of an enthusiast to tell you for sure, but there's surely a general thread who could answer you or at least give you their personal experiences. I'm kind of a frugal cheapo and will run an ancient, second-hand card until it dies since I don't have the money to play around with cards to compare.

Me and the neighbor kids in the cul de sac (think ed Edd and eddy) swore a pact.

We would all buy 1 console so we wouldn’t break the bank. And we would go to each others houses, read game informer or Nintendo power magazines, and decide what we wanted to pool our money into getting. Read a good review for battlefield? We’d buy that. Saw the new COD at another friends house? We’d put that on the list, too.

One owned a Nintendo, one owned a Sony, and I would owned a Microsoft Xbox. Long ago, this was how the three consoles lived together in harmony.

Then, everything changed when I first discovered PC gaming…..I am sorry guys, but the PC truly was superior. I had to break our childhood vow we made to each other.

understood, i’m similar but if it’s worth the price, i’m willing to pay it is my way

being able to play old games with quality of life mods installed gives me a new love of gaming i haven’t had in a while

Once you get your hands on some of the mods for things you take for granted like the UI you can never go back. The big, flashy overhaul mods are sometimes great, but it's those little things that add the gentle touches you start to really love the most.
