Isn't one of that characters traits that they're a bit of a creep at times? I mean aside from the main one of them being an overall turbosperg about shit?
Also this just reminded me of how many games like that existed on flash game websites during the 2000s. Like that was actually stuff that was all over the internet back then brought up n a lot of comedy media of the times because of how fucking bizarre it was.
Yeah, but that still counts as "sexual content", no?

Fujoshi are often, if not always for female yaoi/BL fans. It literally translates to "rotten woman", iirc. But that's probably the closest thing to a unique title for female otakus. They are 99% of the time a yaoi/BL lover.

I never liked yaoi/BL or Yuri/GL even in my weeb days. My friend at the time certainly did and a current friend likes it. But they're also a bisexual FtM so make that of what you will.
You'd think yaoi fangirls would get crap for 'fetishizing gay couples' like Japan loves to do.

Late, but there absolutely is. I remember watching Lucky Star as a young teen the blue haired MC was playing a perverted game, trying to pull the swimsuit/under wear off the woman in said game.
So when I say "there's no sexual shit in Lucky Star" what I mean is "there's no nudity (where you actually get to see anything below the shoulders) or close-ups of underwear or things of that nature."

(To be honest I've never understood the appeal of underwear shots anyway. I mean if you see them in a bathing suit its the same thing).

I don't recall the scene you mentioned (Lucky Star in general is a show hard to recall all the particulars) but my memory was that the "dirty" stuff was limited to a few jokes that would fly over a child's head. Which, to recycle examples, the same could be said about Inspector Gadget, Ducktales, or Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers, or any number of western cartoons that I'm sure most of us think of as totally innocent and/or child-friendly.

I said before, I think there's way too high a bar for what counts as degenerate/sexual these days. Part of my own standard is this: "Assume a viewer isn't already wired to see something as sexual, would they interpret this scene that way?"

Like yeah, when you see Jubei grabbing Mai's boobs in the Fatal Fury anime, that's clearly sexual, no denying it. Konata playing a game and trying to do a dirty thing sounds to me more like a "haha this is what otaku are like" joke (though again I don't recall the scene in question).

There is sexual content in all japanese media unless it's meant for literal 5 year olds. Fujiko fujio didn't add any afaik and I think some of the shoujo manga (riyoko ikeda and moto hagio) don't have sexual content. Even shinchan has dick jokes and sex jokes so I think the Josh hypothesis of Japan being mentally deranged is at least partially true. The bomb screwed with their heads.

I guess it depends on what you view as sexual content. I view it as "would I want a five year old to see this?" That scene in particular might fly over a kids head or it might not completely. Kids can be smarter than we let on. Even if they don't get it, I've heard many adults talk about movies or shows where they didn't understand the sexual scene (subtle or otherwise) but they instinctually understood. I can attest to this as I had a few moments in my childhood like that as well. And my parents are Christians who were very careful about what I watched. Not sheltered a bunch, but careful to not let me see an R rated movie or anything until I was the right age.

I'd personally mark it as something I wouldn't want a kid to see. But that's just my opinion.

Same here, though in my case its more "I don't want to stop to explain the jokes every five minutes" and much of Lucky Star is impenetrable if you're not aware of "where its coming from" to put it one way. By contrast I could show a kid the Rankin-Bass Hobbit and they could still understand it as a fun adventure story even if they don't know jack about Tolkien or his interest in mythology.

Its kind of a problem with comedy in general. I never liked Animaniacs, even as a kid, because I rarely found it funny, and nowadays I'm aware part of the problem is that a lot of the jokes require you to know about something external to the show itself (and even then its not that funny).
