Barely made it out of Houston on one of the last flights yesterday. Scary shit flying into the hurricane. Glad I made it out though.

WAIT, WAIT, THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO ARE WHITE CISGENDER RACIST SCUM WHO THINK THAT THE HYSTERICAL SJWS ARE IDIOTS, YET ARE STILL DECENT HUMAN BEINGS? O. M. G. MIND BLOWN.

When the Queensland floods in 2010 hit, the calculations for cleaning up and repair were billions of dollars and a number of years. That's when the Mud Army arose. Basically, many thousands of people who weren't flooded out grabbed a shovel and started shovelling. They ended up clearing up a fuckton of places in less than a week. Tbh I've always been a bit confused that the same thing didn't happen with Katrina. Think Houston will raise its own Mud Army, or is there too big a culture gap? And the sheer scale of the disaster too big?

People here got their boats, kayaks, rafts etc. out when the call for assistance evacuating people stranded today, I saw dozens on the local news assisting the rescue efforts. People here are more than willing to offer a helping hand to others, and I can hazard a guess and say Houstonians would easily start a Mud Army if it gets the city up and moving faster.

Speaking of kayaks, one of my neighbours is kayaking up and down my street because he's bored and that he can. It's been a kick watching him.

He might want to be a bit careful. Sometimes unexpected tourists can rock up and cause... difficulties. It's funny up until the point where it isn't funny at all.

Just heard from my relatives who live out near Sugarland, they're OK but being evacuated because the Brazos might overflow.

I keep seeing twitter use "Cajun Navy."

A family of six died earlier this afternoon in Houston after their van got flooded.

This is part of the reasoning for not ordering an evacuation. Due to Houston being on flood plains, flooded highways were extremely likely and evacuating millions of people on the highways would have lead to potentially thousands trapped on the highway and drowning in cars.

Copypasting from the Trump Salt thread.

So apparently on Saturday someone posted a pic of Obama serving people food captioned with "Something you'll never see Trump do: Obama is in Texas serving meals".

Thing is, though, despite the time it was posted and the way it was phrased, this ISN'T a recent photo from the hurricane. It's from 2015 at a Washington homeless shelter.

And here's the real kicker: this report? It's from CNN.

How, exactly, do they think they are going to racially target this aid, anyway?

It's August, so Houston is actually at peak undocumented Mexican day laborer right now. Undocumented people, that probably are too afraid to call for help. Someone should Tumblr that shit.
