Well... support for the community in general has been focused on 'civil rights'. It's easy to get hysterical over statues and parades, but disasters on this scale will take years of back breaking labour to fix. I'm guessing that a massive percentage of the people who'd ordinarily jump on board are confused that here is a problem that won't go away no matter how they scream and hiss at it. As soon as the flood waters subsid within a week they will be back in action and terrorising clean up crews who don't head straight towards the nearest street with a large percentage of minorities, and build entire new houses complete with manicured gardens before they work on unimportant shit like sewerage mains, water mains, electricity lines and roads.
I sincerely wish that I'll be proved wrong here. Please, please prove me wrong and make a liar of me.
