Do Americans routinely have their wisdom teeth removed even if they’re not causing problems?
Not american here but I did so because the gums of one of them got infected so I pulled a pair then and pulled the other about a year ago because I really didn't want to experience that shit again.

An aspect of love is fighting and killing to defend what you love, just sayin'. That feral pack of rapists roaming around doesn't really have a love language and don't respond to it.
She was quoting Leonard Cohen. Also yes, sometimes love means fighting and killing. And that's where we're at at this point. The time for calm discussion is over and now it's time to throw down.

About the only line from that I could bear to, it’s too on the nose just now.

My day got worse *hollow laughter*

I feel like I need to punch something. Maybe I’ll just go out into the woods and scream at the trees.

@Core Theorist does she wander? Don’t give up, put some posters up locally - I got my old cat back after a few weeks that way. He’d just gone off doing cat things. I hope you find her

He's been missing for 2 days and this is the longest he's been gone in a while. He usually spends an hour outside and then comes right back in. He's a fellow homebody and I love him very much and I hope he's okay. He's a good cat.
I hope you find your kitty. I had a situation like this. I was in a state of absolute despair. But she came back. I hope you have that happen too. I had a couple days of calling for her and she came back. I wish you luck.
Thank you. I just hope he's doing cat things.

I hope you get him back. I thought mine was gone for good and he was just chilling with some new friends, but if I hadn’t put a poster up I wouldn’t t have got him back.
Maybe go round rhe neighbours and ask them to check their sheds and garages too? This time if year people are getting gardening stuff out and maybe he’s snuck in a shed and got stuck.

That's exactly where I found my kitty. She was on the back porch of the neighbor. I just grabbed her and dragged her back into the house after she meowed at me. She spent the rest of the day purring.

I recognized it immediately. "The Future," by Leonard Cohen.

"Give me back the Berlin Wall, give me Stalin and St. Paul,
I've seen the future, brother, it is murder."

It's understandable people miss the reference though. The song came out in 1992, 34 years ago, and Leonard Cohen has been dead these past ten years. A great song-writer and singer, though. I'm partial to his darkly amusing song "Everybody Knows". Younger Kiwis might want to check it out. "Everybody knows that the dice are loaded / Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed..."

As to how I'm doing since I'm posting? I feel a little like an actor who has played his part and said his lines, but the audience wont leave and the curtain wont fall, I'm standing there asking 'there's another act, still?"

To be fair Leonard Cohen is an acquired (and very good) taste. I don’t think he’s very popular with The Yoof. I like him. Sometimes you need to eyeball the misery directly.
I listened to some Radiohead after to cheer me up, then I realised The Bends is 31 years old and felt worse.

A third "cat was just on vacay" story:

Mine would occasionally slip out of the house unnoticed, roam a few hours until hungry, and then just mainly cower under the deck until they heard me come back out looking. But once one disappeared for 5 days. I was distraught until I got a call he'd been found (he was chipped). He was about a mile and a half away, though creature-covered woods (both wild (including coyotes and owls, raccoons, deer, foxes, and even the occasional beaver) and domestic, as most big dogs are on electric rather than physical fences) and smallish roads, having managed to find himself shelter, food, and a bunch of homies to chill with at a house owned by people with a bunch of cats and a whole gazebo outdoors just for them. Amid all the perils, he managed to find The Best Place on Earth for Cats for a nice vacation.

Don't worry how old something is when it's timeless.

My cat is missing. Considering suicide.
How long has your cat been missing? I'm not a cat owner in any capacity but I have heard of cats roaming for weeks before returning. Praying yours will return to you, safe and sound.

On a lighter note from my day, my neighbours large kitten Manfred decided to climb the tree in my garden because I feed birds. The little shit (affectionate) knows he's not welcome within my lawn so he usually stalks around in the bushes that separate our gardens, alerting my dog and causing a ruckus (because I stupidly taught her to react to cats three years ago when I moved in). Well, he was stuck in that tree, so soft-hearted PetiteFeet went to try and rescue him. Got my step ladder, a couple of cat treats I keep specifically to keep a polite relationship with my neighbourhood cats due to the aforementioned dog problem, and a towel. I think I spent 15 minutes trying to coax him into jumping down to me, he had gotten himself quite helplessly stuck. Or so I thought, because five minutes after I gave up but before I decided to knock on my neighbours door he got down.

Manfred, you win again. He's quite the handsome and agreeable little void of a cat, if only he would leave my birds alone lol.

Husband was spouting some dumb manosphere shit and I was really proud of myself because I was able to stick to my guns and explain myself clearly enough to gain a resolution with my husband. I had disagreed with husband so he got into this loop, of because I disagreed with him it must mean that the same point needed to be explained to me repeatedly until I understood.
I tried to tell him that I had understood but so he escalated and he would not stop after I had asked him repeatedly to stop. When husband was apologizing and we were gaining a resolution, my mother steps in and tells me to stop and then proceeds to make it about her.

FOR FUCKS SAKE :story:

I'm mad and drinking.

i dont think i ever got my wisdom teeth, or if i did, they didnt bother me....ive been super SUPER lucky, and at my age, the most ive had to deal with was getting a cavity filled, but that was more than enough for me, i hate going to the dentist

On what basis did that surgeon determine that a nerve was too close so you need iv sedation? I had 3 out just a year or two ago (one was erupted, two impacted and not erupted & required cutting into the gums) and did it with a local anesthetic. Took like 30 seconds (ok maybe 60, idr, but I do recall it was a total, surprisingly, nothing).

Eta: that said, I think I've lost a filling. Fucking hell.
They did some x-rays, sold me on needing fancier x-rays, and showed it to me. The Google AI said this when I searched: "Wisdom teeth located close to the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) carry an increased risk of nerve damage during extraction, which can cause temporary or, rarely, permanent tingling or numbness in the lips and chin." So I guess that's why he insisted on only 1 or 2 at a time, and on the IV sedation. I'll get over it and have it done eventually.

I'm sorry about your filling :(

Sitting in a shady room with the window open. It already feels like summer here. I can hear finches outside and the distant sounds of children playing. One of my neighbors must be having a birthday party. It’s a wonderful thing. Happy Sunday everyone.
