Words cannot express how much I hated this fucking movie. It was casually recommended to me by a horror fan but his tastes are so broad and generous I have to be careful, especially since anyone who had anything positive to say about this annoying piece of shit should be examined in a lab somewhere.

I'll take your top hats and wear them gladly.

Not sure which picture specifically you're referring to but the only good A24 film from that lineup is The Witch.

This looks like absolute fucking shit. This is fan film tier.
They shit up the lore by adding new alien (not xenos) and other crap. Diversity casting in all the usual ways. It's bad all the way through. You have a chest burster being petted by the girl boss as it acts like a snake instead of running/attacking as you would expect.

That's the only creepy scene.

Oh no, we can't let the Company get their hands on these invincible superweapons or they'll be unstoppable.
Wait, you mean the same company that controls space travel, the terraforming colonies, all the logistics that support the colonies, the construction of near unidentifiable androids and cyborgs, and the space Marines? That company? Yeah, we can't let them have these aliens.

It's amazing simply because everything was done so poorly.

Ugly as shit lighting. This is Canadian made for the Sci Fi channel tier of production. It just has that cheapo look.

They show too much of the Alien. They make it even worse with the mostly flat lighting. That and it looks like they Jewed out with the prosthesis on the skull because the mouth has very limited articulation and the teeth come off like they're painted there. I swear to god you could see an outline of where the costume zips together too.

It's also poorly edited. Poor music. Poorly staged, too. It's obvious they're trying to copy off Alien 3:

But it's impressive how it looks worse and Alien 3 is mocked for really dated Blue Screen effects (there's only one CGI shot in the entire film, every shot you see of the Alien running around in this scene was done with a rod puppet filmed against a Blue Screen) but yet it still looks better than this.

The way the corridor is shot reminds me of AI when you tell it to generate a hallway jump scare video. It just looks like that and someone overlayed a really bad CGI Alien on top of that footage.

The Alien Isolation ripoff/homage doesn't work because (1) you can tell that the actress wasn't really exhausted hiding from that thing. She only ran for about 20 seconds if that. There's no closeups on her showing she's scared or how tired she is or anything to stress tension and contribute to the art of cinema. Then, the decision was made to have the Alien just stand around awkwardly in poses but it doesn't work because of how this abortion was shot so it just fucking looks stupid.

And the new films say know of them before the Ripley encounter and is sending colonists/explorers to worlds known to have eggs.

1. This dumb bitch AKA Make Media Matter thinks sinners being about racism is a shocking plot twist. American Blacks can’t make movies about anything but race. Something African cinema makes fun of.
2. Weapons downplay the school shooting subtext because weapons are accidentally a pro-second amendment movie. The evil witch was only stopped when a boy turned her magic against her, aka good guy with the gun.

That's you projecting onto the movie. There's no school shooting or gun subtext I got at all.

Yes, projecting. Just like how the giant AR-15 in the dream sequence was the first thing people made fun of when Weapons script got leaked. The original script for weapons was so on the nose about school shootings and gun control that even Reddit made fun of it. Weapons' original script was spoiled on the YouTube channel Marvelous months before the movie came out. Most of the plot remains the same outside of trying to be more subtle about the school shooting subtext. Never mind the director social media is nonstop gun control propaganda spam.

I care about whats on the screen not the script or youtube essays. A gun appears in 1 dream sequence and that's it. The movie is not Twitter or Reddit. Get your brain out of the internet toilet.

The director has said the movie is an allegory for alcoholism which is even more retarded than an allegory for school shootings.

It makes sense when you read the interview. The third act was basically his childhood without the witch. Useless parents you have to look after because they will die if you don't.
The third act with the witch making the kid look after her, I can get. I'm not sure how the rest of the film fits into that, though.
