They hyped up the Toxic Avenger remake for being violent, offensive, and gross like the original. It wasn’t. It was Deadpool and Wolverine with less impressive gore and more nudity. Even the nudity was pretty tame compared to the first Toxic Avenger. The film was clearly dropped by its original distributor for not being too extreme. It’s an R-rated capeshit movie with James Gunn humor with non-marvel or DC license. It’s not the worst movie of 2025. But it’s not great. It’s Reddit safe edgy the movie.(BHT the main villain is a vaccine maker, The nutz are multicultural juggalos, bisexual incel terrorists and bad guys live in Chudville)

Watched Reanimator last night for the 1st time in years, noticed that the poster on the wall during the 1st brief "yes yes!" sex scene - has TALKING HEADS' logo clearly in shot for most of the scene.
Gotta be intentional.. 😀

Ok, I knew that I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 would be slop, but I was kind of pleasantly surprised at how passable it was… until I puked all over myself during the ending. It was serviceable, the kills were kind of nice, and it was just an average meh remake, nothing horrible, until the last 20 minutes at which point it just takes a dump all over you and stops making sense whatsoever. They go and make Freddie Prince JR the accomplice because… people weren’t talking about a series of mass murders that happened 30 years ago and moved on? The character motivation made no sense. Also, the killer survives being shot twice in the chest and dumped in the ocean miles from the coast and you learn about it in a throwaway line at the end. Also, some she stabbed in the chest and dumped in the ocean miles from the coast prior to that also survives by washing away on the beach, too.

This is real dialogue from said ending:

Girl 1: “I think some of my digestive system is in the ocean now.” [She was brutally stabbed in the stomach with a hook and thrown overboard and nearly drowned 12 hours ago]
Girl 2: “Yeah this whole experience has been… zero out of ten. Like, no stars. None at all. No stars.”
[Girl 1 agrees by shaking her head and waving her finger no]
Girl 2: “It’s pretty crazy that all of this could have probably been avoided if men just went to therapy, you know.” [The main killer was a woman]
Girl 1: “I love you”
Girl 2: “I love you so much”
Girl 1: “I think you’re my soulmate”
Girl 2: “You’re my soulmate.”

[Girl 2 licks her finger and puts it up in the air]
Girl 2: “Yeah, I think it’s fair to say… the divas are up!” [All of their friends and families have been brutally murdered in the last couple of days by one of their friends and they’ve barely survived and are injured]
Girl 1: “Yeah!”
Girl 2: “Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, Stevie [the actual girl killer] is alive”
Girl 1: “What the fuck”
Girl 2: “Yeah”
Girl 1: “Should we kill her?”
Girl 2: “Fuck yeah!”

[Roll Credits.]

For the record, when it’s revealed that Stevie just murdered their entire friends group and Girl 1 calls her insane, she says:

"You shouldn't call me crazy, Ava, It's so reductive. A strong, empowered woman takes control of her destiny, and suddenly she's labeled as crazy? Now, are you gonna keep interrupting me, or are you gonna let me fucking finish?"

Isn't this just your typical Troma, Toxic Avenger, Lloyd Kaufman movie?
Lloyd Kaufman’s comedy does not rely on referencing other superhero movies to be humorous. His humor often includes provocative language such as racial slurs, mature themes like rape, and comedic nudity. While the Toxic Avenger remake incorporates some similar elements, it occasionally holds back from fully embracing them. Especially the nudty jokes. No bad guy gets castrated and Toxie only gets a dick jokes in the third act.

I bet this remake didn't even have a child and animal death like in the original.

The Watchers (2024)

Verdict: Terrible

Stupid movie with stupid premise. Realized immediately at the twist that the entire movie is a loose justification for the twist. Seeing the director credit for "Ishana Night Shyamalan" was the real twist. More racist against jeets now.

Never really a Troma fan, not that I "hate" Troma output, it just doesn't interest me, so I have zero interest in seeing a Toxic Avenger remake, especially since I suspected it would be a lot like how it was described a few posts up. The only thing worse than "Whedon-esque" writing in films is the more aggressively obnoxious, mood-whiplashing"Gunn-esque" writing.

Something I remembered, while thinking about Troma, etc. was a story that appeared in the mid-1980s horror anthology "Silver Scream" edited by David Schow, which I recently revisited. "Lifecast" by Craig Spector, who with John Skipp back in the 80s co-authored several novels in what was dubbed "splatterpunk" horror. The story is about, Phil a nerdy young makeup FX artist after years of toiling away at no-budget flicks and getting jerked around and abused by bosses, got a job with a B-movie outfit, but has been driven to the end of his tether by more abuse and jerking around from his current boss, one "Herschel Floyd", "the producer/director-schiessmeister" behind the filmmaking outfit "Trauma Productions, Inc." which started out making sexploitation flicks before cranking out schlock horror-exploitation like their most recent offering The Toxic Shock Avenger ("the terrifying tale of a deformed boy menacing a wealthy all-girl summer camp with lethal tampons")...

Phil worked himself into a collapse trying to bring the titular creature to life, (while shooting on location (at an abandoned dioxin dump in New Jersey) having to put up with Floyd's constant demands. The creature FX, which looked so hideous in person, ended up looking rubbery and cheap in the screening of the dailies during which the tyrannical schlock auteur had a tantrum, humiliating and then firing Phil. The FX artist has a plan for revenge, perhaps a little addled by the heat wave plaguing NYC in the story. Inspired by having just watched The Believers (he loved the scene with the spiders crawling on Helen Shaver's face), he looks into Santeria rituals, while awaiting his boss' inevitable phone call, begging him to come back, making empty apologies and promises - key to his plan for revenge besides the votive candle and sacrificial rat is the titular lifecast, a mold made from "Floyd's" face...

It's really funny how just being a fedora tipper in the 60s made Brazillians shit and piss themselves in terror.

I really really love how his main power is being a blasphemous asshole.

thinking more I want Coffin Joe vs The Invisible Man
like, first they get along being total jerks to everybody, the Xe realizes Invisible Man has no qualms about killing kids and preggos, and he doesn't even want to knock bitches up while hating god and throwing spiders at people!
now it's war.

Truly, not continuing the blood is invisibility.

Not the point, dude.

At least it wasn't gay and full of coons.

Anyway it wasn't that bad...average, I was happy it wasn't woke pile of fuck more than anything.

Right I'm back to my self imposed exile till my country stops being a full on dystopic nightmare.
A lot of shitty movies are "not gay or full of coons". That's a retarded reason to like a shitty movie

I recently watched the Suspiria remake and it was one of the most god awful things I've ever had the misfortune of sitting through. Anyone who enjoyed it is a retarded person who should not be taken seriously.

And fuck that fucking soundtrack. Thom Yorke is a nigger.
