Now which of the least favorite in the series would you rather watch, Part 5 or Part 9?

Part 5. I don't like the whole Roy thing, but it doesn't give me psychic damage like Part 9. Part 5 is still enjoyable and has some iconic moments. Part 9 makes the same mistake of basically not having Jason and it also royally fucks up the lore. I hate Part 9. May it be decanonized forever and ever, Amen.

I have a personal soft spot for part 5 because I may not have any experience with the American summer camp, but I do have experience with the youth program so it hits a little bit closer to home for me as well.

Also without part 5 we would not have this.

I would like to point out that today is the only Friday 13th in 2025 and canonically Jason's birthday. 45 years,

RIP that snake tho
I remember a few years back it was Friday 13th in, like November, so I was about Jasoned out already but then I saw it wasn't going to be Fri 13 again for like, a year or two

I never got around to watching the Alien and Predator sequels (apart from the recent The Predator movie in like 2017 or something). Saw Predator 2 the other night was such a strange movie. Watching Aliens now and I'm really enjoying it. Bill Paxton is so fun. A little corny that they retcon in that Ripley was a mom so she can be a natural mother figure to Newt but whatever (tbf I am watching the extended cut and maybe this detail was removed before theatrical release).

I don't think the Predator films are horror really but since they canonically cross over with Alien a couple times I consider them horror-adjacent by proxy. Even though I just finished saying I've only seen some of them, lol.

If you're only going to screen one of the movies it should be either Part 4 or Part 6 imo. The first one doesnt even hold up that well tbh, Part 2 is a huge improvement in pacing, etc.

He looked his best in Part 7,

see, look how handsome he is.
I actually think the first Friday the 13th is the best one. I think the other F13 movies are fun watches and all but the first movie is the only one I consider an actual "good" movie.

Really? Hard disagree, my friend, I feel like it's kind of objectively a not very good movie. It was cheaply thrown together to cash-in on the success of halloween and outside of Betsy Palmers performance and some gore if it wasn't for the sequels I don't think it would even be remembered to the level of something like The Burning or Final Exam. I think there's a notable increase in production value, overall pacing, and even acting in the following 2 films while the series never reached Oscar level or anything like that.

But to each their own, and perhaps I would feel differently if I saw Friday the 13th earlier or something.

The sequels were all cheaply thrown together to cash in on the success of the previous movie, and none of them make any sense. I'm not a hater or anything but really.

I guess we're just not counting Jason X (works for me)

I just watched a terrible movie.
It was awful.
I think it was in the horror section purely because the idea of it being seen by actual human eyes damages the psyche.
It's called -
The Pickleball Exorcist
This may be the single worst thing to come from 2025 and there are wars happening, and it's only halfway through June.

If you decide you simply must watch this thing, I suggest muting it and putting it at 2x speed.
Don't say I didn't warn you.

now I want a whole line of shitty flash-in-the-pan fad meme horror movies like PET ROCK, but you do each in the style of a shit movie of that time

PET ROCK follows Mara McWhitepeoplearecreepy, a grieving mother who isolates herself alone in her anachronistically gothic house after her young son’s death. When she finds his old pet rock, she becomes convinced it holds his spirit. But as the object’s influence grows, reality begins to slip. Visions blur and whispers echo (which they already did from the start of the movie, but now it's more pronounced), and something ancient that we never get to get a good look at (because it's just a metaphor for inherited family shame-trauma or some bullshit) stirs beneath the house. PET ROCK is a haunting exploration of grief, memory, and the quiet terror of refusing to let go. An A24 film.

I'm thinking more giallo, the rock is in dramatic lighting and shadow, lots of tension and then it smashes through somebody's head graphic onscreen
