I'm tempted to check out Into The Earth, by the same director, but the reviews are too polarised. Has anyone here seen it and what did you think?
It's a film he cooked up to stave off the COVID lockdown insanity, so in that context I forgive some of its shortcomings. I think it's decent. I maintain Wheatley's masterpiece is A Field in England, though.

It seems like there is this new disturbing ''fad'' movie that seems to be making waves.
''The Coffee Table'', a spanish movie from 2023.
If you are into some creative horror shit you'll love it.

So instead of watching In The Earth I decided to watch A Field In England instead, and you are right, it's amazing. That divination scene will be with me for a long time, and I loved how the trip sequence was almost painful in its insanity, but also lucid enough to continue the story. Also Reece Shearsmith neither looks nor sounds like himself, which I think must have required impressive direction, since Whitehead is such a classic Shearsmith type character. Of course the truth is that the dirty scraggly Whitehead is as close as back then got to a tweedy nebbish pedant, which was part of the point of the movie I think.

Jason Universe: Horror, Inc. Announces Multi-Platform Expansion of Friday the 13th Franchise

"We’re focused on honoring the legacy while elevating the fan experience and appealing to today’s horror audiences."

IGN can exclusively report that Horror, Inc. is expanding the Friday the 13th franchise into a new era with the launch of Jason Universe.

New Friday the 13th activations will span a wide range of platforms from entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more to be announced throughout 2024 via @JasonUniverse13 on social media or by visiting the official Jason Universe website.

“For decades, Jason shocked and thrilled audiences who kept coming back for more. We’re excited to work with Victor Miller and Marc Toberoff on new projects we’ll announce in the coming months,” said Robert Barsamian, President of Horror, Inc., in a statement provided to IGN.

Victor Miller was the screenwriter of the original Friday the 13th movie who reclaimed the domestic rights to the original slasher film in 2021 after a lengthy lawsuit. (Miller, however, is not part of Horror, Inc.)

Barsamian is an executive producer on the upcoming A24 and Peacock expanded prequel series Crystal Lake (which originally had Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller aboard as its showrunner before he parted ways with the project last week). Barsamian was also an executive producer on 2017’s Friday the 13th: The Game.

Added Robbie Barsamian, VP of Horror, Inc.: “We’re focused on honoring the legacy while elevating the fan experience and appealing to today’s horror audiences as we develop new ways to watch, interact and engage with the Jason Universe.”

“With the unique ability to remain at the forefront of pop culture for 44 years, Jason continues to top charts as one of the scariest villains of all time with strong global awareness across multiple generations thanks to billions of TikTok views plus millions and millions of gamers and movie fans,” said Sheri Conn, Global GM of Horror, Inc. “We can’t wait to introduce new Jason Universe activations to these amazing fans.”

What fucking Jason universe is there. We all saw how great Jason did in New York. Are they going to explain how Jason drowned but then turned in to an extra from the Hills have Eyes living in the woods. Are we going to get an explanation of the evil big heart that Jason has from Jason goes to Hell? Will we ever know what happened to Tommy Jarvis? Can't we just have a mini series with Creighton Duke hunting supernatural slashers instead.

At last, after all those Jason TikTok videos, we're finally getting those activations we've all been asking for

I found the ending to the Mist to be comical to me, they just over did it to the point it was no longer grim but just funny.

Just watched Jeepers Creepers: Reborn, bad movie but not much of note to talk about outside how bad the green screen in that movie is. Even cop cars on a woody road is green screened in.
Late but I was bored and saw this on Hulu. Trash fucking film. Niggers, faggots and race mixing. Bad acting. Terrible.

I saw Late Night with the Devil with a few other kiwis. Slow beginning, but it does pick up and the last ten minutes, while a little bit unnecessary, are easily the best part of the film. I might watch it again sometime soon.

I saw Unfrosted not too long after with the same group of people and its easily one of the unfunniest films I've seen in some time.

check out the Argentina version
it has a similar basic structure but lots of different events, and THINGS GET WEIRD goes off in a totally other direction

Saw the new Strangers movie today. It was alright, but it's not a prequel like it was initially announced, but a reboot. The setting was different, but it hit so many same beats, complete with the male lead accidentally killing an innocent person with a gun and the masked killers tying the leads up in chairs before stabbing them. I even expected those religious kids (which are in this movie too) to come across the carnage so the woman could wake up and scream for no reason.

I guess the two sequels will have to come up with some new shit, at least, so we can get some more unique plot beats. I'm just glad that it didn't reveal who the Strangers were. The entire time I was waiting for the explicit reveal that the townsfolk were the ones behind it all.

I hope most people here have seen the horror movies made by Bob Clark and Alan Ormsby..... Deathdream, Black Christmas, and Deranged are criminally underrated.
Would go as far as saying Black Christmas and Deranged are far more effective than Halloween and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I say that easily. The former are
very grounded and real. Nearly everything in Deranged is factually accurate. The latter feel like dreams to me. All you have to do to defeat a dream is wake up! Not scary to me..
It's a shame Bob Clark died and it's a shame his last films were Baby Geniuses and that horrendous Black Christmas prequel/remake.
He was going to remake Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things with Howard Stern (yes, that one) as producer. Shame we never got to see that, even if the likelihood of it being very bad was high.

Blumhouse Bringing the ‘My Bloody Valentine’ Franchise Back to Life [Exclusive]

Released in 1981, the original Canadian slasher classic My Bloody Valentine spawned a Hollywood remake (My Bloody Valentine 3D) in 2009, but it’s now been 15 years since we’ve heard a peep from the franchise about a sadistic and bloodthirsty miner with a pick(axe) to grind. But as “The Ballad of Harry Warden” once told us, it’s a curse that will live on and on…

And the My Bloody Valentine franchise does indeed plan to live on, as Bloody Disgusting has exclusively learned that Blumhouse is developing a brand new My Bloody Valentine movie.

Stay tuned for more information as we learn it.

My Bloody Valentine is one of those franchises that never was, with both the original movie and the 2009 remake failing to spawn follow-up movies. That’s despite Lionsgate’s My Bloody Valentine 3D scaring up $100 million at the worldwide box office, and the original becoming a classic that horror fans enjoy watching every time the calendar flips to February 14.

George Mihalka directed the original 1981 movie. In the film, “A decades-old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine’s Day turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer’s order and people start turning up dead.”

Directed by Patrick Lussier, the 3D remake follows a similar storyline. “Tom returns to his hometown on the tenth anniversary of the Valentine’s night massacre that claimed the lives of 22 people. Instead of a homecoming, Tom finds himself suspected of committing the murders, and it seems like his old flame is the only one that believes he’s innocent.”

“In this little town when the 14th comes ’round, there’s a silence and fear in the air…”

Blumhouse, so 99% chance this will be extremely dull.
