Idk if Ghostbusters fits this thread since its not a horror movie but it is a comedy with horror like elements but I'd argue that the first two movies had enough unsettling and creepy elements and moments that more than earn its spot in the genre.
Either way, I have seen Frozen Empire and I have to say, despite some legit good moments, I had a concerning realization....Its too late. Its too late to just bring this franchise back and just have movies again like we didnt have decades of constant problems to just get Ghostbusters 3 out. Afterlife isnt even THE Ghostbusters 3, its a legacy type movie that is having to write around Harold Ramis's death. Afterlife was alright for what it was but it felt more like a small town spin off of Ghostbusters instead of an actual new entry in the main series, even if the idea that Egon just straight up left NY and going to bum's fuck nowhere AND having a family (which, to be fair, he didnt seem against it, just seemed very "clinical/scientific" about it) with someone we never met in the movies (I remember how pissed Ghostbusters 2 made fans by not having Egon and Janine ending up together like the first one was implying).
I guess when I watched Frozen Empire is where I truly realized things just cant never be the same again, not even in a Ghostbusters 2 sort of way, too much time has passed (I pin a good chunk of the blame on Bill Murray, he is cool to watch but a bitch to work with) and I guess most have collectively moved on from Ghostbusters (while treasuring the originals). Frozen Empire is like bringing the band back, minus a member, with new blood and similar material...and you as a fan seeing that even with them doing their best, its just not the same anymore. Maybe its you, maybe its them...oh hell, it is them but still.
Im ok with the movies stopping here and thats it, I even dare say its a good note to end on.
