So, they use footage from that trailer in the movie? Interesting. Shame that the knife gash scene isn't in this one, but I get it. I'll check it out!
No. None of the footage from the Grindhouse trailer was used. There's instead recreations of things from the trailer but Roth does some swerves with it. I was just thinking about it and unless someone else beats me to it I'll make a quick and dirty fan-edit that reinserts the cunt stab from the Grindhouse trailer back into the movie (as god intended).

Spolers for X all through this, but don't worry, because it sucks and you shouldn't watch it.

I finally saw X, and what a huge pile of shit it was. I don't get why critics wet themselves over this - or well I do get it, but it's fucking annoying (it's because the nigger has sex with 2.5 white chicks). The killers aren't scary or creepy - thankfully Mia Goth's old woman makeup is shot so she doesn't look retarded like in every other young woman made up to look old movie. I don't get the point of having her play both roles. I mean she did fine, but it's just a distraction rather than anything important or skillful; I mean if Tilda Swinton couldn't pull it off in Suspiria, fucking Mia Goth has zero chance in this pile of shit. Also, the creepy old dude wasn't really that creepy or scary or even intimidating. Honestly felt bad for him more than anything, and maybe that was the point, but it's supposed to be a horror film, not On Golden Pond.

The kills, and I mean every single one of them, sucked. The pitchfork to the guy's face was literally stupider looking than the exact same kill in Friday the 13th part 3. I mean that kill is supposed to be the kill for the 'worst' of the victims (I mean they're porn maker scumbags from the '70s so they're all shitty people, but he's the leader or whatever, it's all his fault), and they built a tiny bit of tension in a dark barn for about 30 seconds, and then bam he's dead. I was paying attention and had to rewind to figure out what happened. I can't imagine how confused people in a theater were. Every kill is just quick and boring - I mean the kind of kill where you'd go, well if I was in that situation, that's pretty much what I'd want to happen to me - i.e. the opposite of horror. I'm not saying everything has to be some drawn out torture gore kill, but the victims are mostly just annoyed, then confused and then immediately dead. There's no dread, no terror, no tension - no fucking horror!

I will say that at least everyone did a pretty good job in the movie. It's not like other modern horrors where you literally hate every victim. I mean in this case they're degenerates, but you hate them because they are degenerates in the movie, not because they are shitty and annoying actors. That being said, it's pretty fucking try hard to have a porn crew get killed in a Texas Chainsaw homage. The whole thing starts a bit on-the-nose and well, I won't say it goes downhill from there, but it certainly doesn't get any better.

Does have the modern trope of a chick that gets freed from the murder-cellar, who could easily then escape from the house, but decides instead to autisitcally shriek at the chick who saved her (for ZERO reason that was set up in the movie). Don't worry, though, she doesn't really pay for being retarded, she's just immediately dies painlessly.

2.0 stars, and that's with the .5 point bump for having titties in it. Although honestly I should take that away since every time there's tits, the nigger is there too. Everything else sucks in it, and I regret the time I wasted watching it. I re-watched House of the Devil a while ago, and it's still good (although not great like the first time you watch it), but it's looking more and more like Ti West only had one good movie in him. Happens to a lot of film-makers.

I saw Thanksgiving today.

It's pretty good for what it is, being a formulaic slasher movie. It doesn't reinvent the wheel at all, but it looks good, has a bit of style, and is brimming with Thanksgiving imagery.

Last night I started watching Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (had to cut it about halfway) but what I saw was decent.

What do y'all think about the franchise? I'm a fan of the original, never seen the third film, and I hated the newer reboot.

Also, when leaving the theater, there was some ghetto ass black woman, with a little kid in tow, cussing and screaming at the staff over who knows what in the lobby. Security guards were showing up and shit.

Maybe this is why people wait for streaming?

I know that's why I wait. It's not worth the ticket price to put up with so many loud people. I don't get it. When I was younger you never saw things like this, even in dollar theaters it wasn't this bad.
I am one of these loud people... Except I only say "Based" during gore scenes.

I saw this too and I loved every second of it. Easily my favorite of 2023. It's just oozing with "Thanksgiving". That opening first 15 minutes is probably going down as one of my favorite movie scenes of all time. Yeah, it's formulaic but it's supposed to be. They knew exactly what movie they were making and they knocked it out of the park.

I really hated the final jump scare. That left a bad taste (pardon the pun) in my mouth.

But I gotta' admit... The toys look pretty cool:

I'm partial towards the decapitated Turkey plush.

Well the movie slows down when it actually has to movie. I don't really get the final jump scare but it's a fun ride until then anyway. It's a carve above the rest of the schlock lately and I think it's going to have a lot of success as a cult hit once it's shilled and re-runs every Thanksgiving for the next decade like Krampus.

@BrunoMattei

Tried to post this on our discussion on your page, but Null is a nigger and limits wall posts to 1024 characters.

Just watched Hellraiser 2022; not great, not terrible. The plot was ham handed and contrived, the characters one dimensional, and the lore was much more akin to a generic monster/slasher movie. Voight's story was far more compelling and well written - millionaire dabbles in the occult, finds the puzzle box, receives a gift, realizes its not at all what he was hoping for, attempts to save himself by sacrificing others to take his place and gets taken to hell by the cenobites anyway. This was much closer to lore of the (original) movies than what transpired among the rest of the cast.

The main character was alright, shes not a bad actress but the script did her dirty by having her stumble at a breakneck pace through what should've been a far more gradual struggle with voight and the cenobites. Either they wound up cutting a whole bunch of expository scenes or the writers were complete hacks and only focused on writing the final confrontation. The rest of the cast was as one can expect from a modern adaption of a classic; one dimensional mystery meat of many genders and sexual orientations. I'm not against seeing a movie with a diverse cast, but it should feel organic, not like they were trying to check every box on the way to the bottom of the diversity checklist.

We've got:
  1. A gay nigger (spic?), I couldnt tell and dont care enough to look it up
  2. A druggie jewess (looked it up)
  3. A bri'ish soundin' asian with practically no personality
  4. TWO evil white guys (voight and her boyfriend)
  5. A gay bbc (bmc?) loving twink
All in all pretty lame set of characters and almost entirely forgetable. Voight and the cenobites really stole the show AFAIC.

I don't really mind tranny pinhead other than they probably could've found a superior actress (with True and Honest XX chromosomes) if they bothered to do so. The new cenobite designs are more interesting than the previous designs and far more fitting of the hellraiser theme. I always thought the original cenobite designs were somewhat incongruent with what they did to their victims. Why bother decking them out head to toe in leather fetish gear when all they're going to do is rip and tear people apart? The flayed, mutilated, and body modified scheme of the new designs is far more fitting, though they should've been made just a little more organic and bloody.

Two of the cenobites (mother and mask) got no screen time, which is a shame considering how much work was put into the concept art and the costume design. Asphyx and the masque should've at least got a kill. Having the weeper show off nothing other than its ability to hold a bitch down and split its arms was also a waste. Considering what Keith Thompson wrote on his art blog, it sounded like they had to cut some sweet weeper scenes. Such a shame. And Gasp? Gasp is a ceno-babe. She could mutilate my scrotum ALL night long.

I'm hoping they find a soy-free director for the inevitable sequel as well as spend a little more time fleshing out the supporting characters (so that Leviathan's harvest may be even more bountiful). I'm also looking forward to seeing what Voight can do now that he has the power of Leviathan. No doubt he can be an excellent demonic antagonist, if they give him the chance.
