Investigating the father is an unturned stone in the franchise and has a lot of possibilities.
If we're doing inb4s, mine is that the father (possibly Hodder) will be a clone of William Forsyth's character from Rob Zombie's Halloween. They'll make Pamela a saint (who is also good at everything and super smart) who gets driven to murder more by her husband and meeeeennnnn than camp counselors.

Also Jason will be a tranny when he shows up now.

And what, are we gonna have Danny McBride in this movie?

He can be in it (he was fine in Alien Covenant), just no one let him near the fucking writing room. Also I think it's a show, not a movie, and I think he's done with TV.
Unless he's said something very recently, he's definitely not done with TV -- he's currently working on the new season of Righteous Gemstones, which he's talked about wanting to go on for years. All of his shows have been great, so I don't think he's a bad writer. The only thing he's been attached to as a writer that truly sucked was the recent Halloween trilogy but that had multiple writers and Jamie Lee Curtis' dumb ass interfering.

Yeah fair enough, I did like Eastbound. Didn't care for the school one, and haven't seen Gemstones (just seems like too played out of a target.) Just Ends was soooo shit (except for the fact that the musical theater faggots were the bullies which I thought was genius), and that's the only thing I've seen that he's been associated with since Covenant. But your point is well taken. I think it's pretty much moot anyway since I don't think he's even rumored to be associated with F13.

I know you're shitposting but I do think showing Pamela as a good mom driven insane by the death of her son would be pretty good. That was partly explored in the comic Pamela's Tale:

Only difference from what you've described is that in the comic, Pamela does kill the father (or who we assume to be the father) due to his abuse.

NB4 They reveal Jason's father and he's played by Kane Hodder which would actually be pretty clever. Either Kane Hodder or Tom Savini since he has acted even though Tom is 75 or 76 now.
Savini could easily do it. I saw an interview that was filmed with him recently, maybe in the past year or two. He still looks the same just a bit... older. I know that's a bad way of describing it, but he didn't get fat or sick or anything. He's been slowing down his work in the past five or ten years anyway, so it'd be a great swan song for him.

Savini is 75/76 now. So he looks amazing. He aged a little bit more in the last year or so because he got in a car accident where an asshole ran into him while he was on a bike.

I consider Tom Savini to the be the true "father" of Jason over Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller. Miller can be credited with the name "Jason" and the origin but that's it. Savini decided to make Jason a mongoloid and it was Savini's idea to have the final gag at the end where Jason leaps out of the water.

In an alternate universe we didn't have that final gag at the end and The Burning was released by Paramount under the title Friday the 13th part 2.

I fear that if Paramount actually does make a new Friday the 13th reboot movie, it's going to be just like the last two Scream movies they've also produced and released. Not a good sign.

Fun fact: when Betsy Palmer was doing conventions for the last few years of her life she was always shocked when female fans would come up to her and ask for photos with their babies. And she asked these women why and they would respond that they understand the wrath of a mother losing their child.

Jason's Mom.jpg

(This was staged at a convention. It wasn't Kane under the suit as far as I know.)

Yikes I didn't hear about the accident story. Glad to hear Tom Savini looks well for his age for some reason I never bother to look up a recent picture of the guy.

Anyways you know I was just thinking today. We keep seeing the evil movies trying to have female leads to be a subversion of the Evil Dead movies. Since originally Ash was ment to be one back in the day since Horror movies usually would kill off the men and leave the women alive. So instead in Evil Dead we Ash Williams being the last survivor instead of his girlfriend or sister. Kind of funny how people miss that.

I'm curious what you guys think of the ending to Fulci's City of the Living Dead:

I just talked about this in another thread about bad endings to movies/tv and probably games. Even for Eyetalian horror this is a bizarre ending. Like I said in the other thread there's two rumors: either something happened during the edit of the movie and chemicals were spilled on the negative and they improvised an ending. Or, Fulci changed his mind and wanted a dark ending.

After thinking about it I'm going to lean towards the later theory because it makes sense. Carlo DeMejo stabs the priest, the zombies go up in flames and disintegrate into nothingness, the movie could have just ended there, we got to 90 minutes, go to credits, we're done. Even if the last few minutes of footage to establish this happy ending were damaged the movie could have very easily just ended right there and everyone goes home happy. I think Fulci wanted a darker ending but didn't have the money for reshoots so they improvised this which kind of fits into his motif:

It's like that bit in Don't Torture a Duckling where Florinda Bolkan enters the church and steps out and the footage is replayed to the audience and then it's revealed we're watching surveillance footage. Same thing happens in The Beyond when Emily touches the painting and has blood on her hands (invoking Stigmata) and she runs out of there without making a sound and the film repeats the footage to establish that this is supernatural.

I don't think the ending to City truly works but I get what he was going for: most likely a meta-commentary implying the movie itself is cursed which fits the feeling of decay and death present in the film.

My basic thought is that I really can't believe that's the ending they went with. Whatever the story behind it is, it doesn't even seem possible that it's the ending that they had in mind at the time they were shooting the scene. SOMETHING had to have happened there. The money and actors must have been gone when they decided on it. I've never seen anything like that in any other movie.

This is kind of common with Eyetalian horror and exploitation.

Even by the early 80's the whole "it was all just a dream" was seen as cliche and hackney'ed.

Not horror but The Last Hunter -an Eyetalian Namsploitation flick- has a bizarre af ending where our protagonist gets the girl to the helicopter, he completed his mission, the chopper is right there but he doesn't go on the chopper and stays for??? Reasons. Allowing himself to die by artillery fire. Even though it wasn't setup that he was suicidal or was contemplating doing this.

I don't think the ending to City of the Living Dead works but I could see what Fulci was trying to go for.

The CotLD that ending anyone would expect - the ending one would assume they had planned - is that
the kid turns around and he has zombie makeup on. That would be about on the level of your usual Italian nonsense. What actually happens looks like an editing mistake or something. It's like if Poochie levitated out of frame but they forgot to put in the audio explaining that he was going to his home planet.

I'd like to believe they actually shot the zombie kid ending but removed it at the last minute because they thought it made too much sense.

Doesn't New Line/Warner own the rights to post part 1 Jason.

Warner Bros. Gives Up ‘Friday the 13th’ Rights to Board Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’

That was 2013 and they only had 5 years to make anything (which they failed), so should have went back to WB.
WB/New Line owns it now. But because of the rights being split between Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller they could shop it to other studios but it would major pain in the ass to do so.

A new F13 show is coming next year.

inb4 bullshit stream sites like Netflix and Amazon would both purchase rights to F13
