I think every horror director is the first one ever to find that amazing house shape.

Also I don't think "Kill me" was in Prometheus or Covenant. I just re-watched them the other day and didn't notice that in there at all (or even a scene where it would be appropriate). Everything is SOOO retardedly fast (the gestation period, the movement of the morphs, the times between realization and death), that I don't think anyone has a chance to. That's probably a really good catch, and a big reason why those movies sucked so much, there's literally no time for actual horror or "kill me" moments, because as soon as anything happens, whomever it happens to is dead in seconds (final girls notwithstanding, of course).

1: Midsommar came out a year after Mandy so that could be another homage to Mandy.

2: I liked Covenant and Prometheus is frustrating but fan-edits have massively improved the movie.

1. You're probably right. Also probably why Aster had to edit out the chainsaw fight, too much homaging.

2. I liked Covenant too, but it's still not a good movie. Plus, as I was watching it, I read the trivia about Katherine Waterston's hair and it ruined the movie for me. It's a shame Danny McBride didn't get more serious action movie roles from that, he did a pretty good job.

Saw Evil Dead Rise.

6/10

It's alright. It didn't feel genuine to me. Mostly because the mom was way too good looking to be playing this frazzled single mom of 3 who lives in a condemned building. The actress was literally a supermodel.

I thought the mom was above average but to each his own. She did a good job as a Deadite too.

This is my immediate assumption about any and all New Dead
It feels like some random horror you'd find on Shudder or Netflix that you'll barely remember watching by this time next week.
I watched the Evil Dead remake a while back and this was more or less what I thought of it. There was nothing wrong with it, really. It wasn't bad or laughable and you can tell it was made by competent people, but there was nothing memorable about it either.

Quotes are busted on my end too, but I thought I didn't spoil anything on Beau is Afraid unless the inline spoiler broke from the site's wonkiness from time to time? Still going to put it in a spoiler just in case, when I can edit because the site broke edit functions on my end at this post.

topic tax: Watched Scream VI because of a bet. I understimated the value of a $50. It was not worth watching the entire movie. It was an okay turn-your-brain-off popcorn flick, but it really falls apart on thinking about it.
Seriously, nobody dies except random unrelated people? Somehow I'm supposed to believe the dude who had been gangbanged by two Ghostfaces survived that? The "cult" plot at the intro was such a good idea that I can't believe that it was just dropped after dangling it in my front of my nose.

Honestly Scream 6 is definitely the weakest film of the series, like the opening was so great and the idea of multiple ghostface groups competing against each other would've been more interesting than the actual killers which is a ripoff of Scream 2. The cop and his two kids are definitely the worst killers in the entire series. The fake-out deaths only make it worse, at the very least kill the obnoxious black girl whose the worst character in the franchise.

Also still can't get over that scene where two characters test each other out on how they're a horror buff, and it boils down to them having the exact same opinions. Maybe the last two films really were written by redditors.

So the tenth Saw movie is titled......Saw X. Amazing. *gives golfclap.*

Are these latest batch of sequels gonna ever link up at some point? Are they just gonna keep ignoring each other?

Lol, no. Look at all these apprentices coming out of no where. Unless they go for some whacky over the top showing like 3D, I can't imagine why you'd involve multiple masterminds.

This one is supposedly taking place between the first two. So Amanda and Jigsaw are back.

I agree they should kill her. I remmber when Horror movies would kill off ignoring characters. But because of the current world we let them live because retards identity as them now.
Also not that many people should live in a freaking horror movie

Glad I found this thread, horror movies are the only thing I can stomach actually watching now.
I'm into foreign horror movies (mostly asian tbh), my favorite movies are:
Pulse (2001)
A Tale of Two Sisters
Howling Village

Do any of you guys have some reccs?

The people at Lionsgate and Twisted became well aware of Saw being an actual punchline, even after the 2010s, and especially when they tried to reboot it twice in 2017 and 2021. I have zero clue as to how the storyline will tie up together, they'll continue to make more. Have no fear, they got stories for years like Jigsaw becomes a robot.

Rewatching Horror in the High Desert 2 on Tubi, even knowing what's happening this time, I still get tense watching it. There are scenes where the feeling I get is I don't want to see what's lurking around out of view, or making those sounds out in the night, or is briefly seen in the glare of a passing car's headlights.

Especially this scene, this scene I believe actually had my hair standing on end.
