Some time ago I recommended the faux-documentary film Horror in the High Desert, which plays like, to quote one source, a really spooky episode of '48 Hours'. It was all about what happened to Gary Hinge, a hiker who went missing after setting off into the wilds of Nevada. Through interviews with friends and relatives, we learn that Hinge was a young man was obsessed with survivalism and had a popular hiking blog and uploaded videos of his exploits.

Since he didn't tell anyone where he was headed, the search for him by the authorities and the private investigator hired by his sister slammed into a wall. Then police find his truck with unidentifiable bare footprints alongside it, which was odd since he didn't drive to the places he hiked. But then his backpack surfaces, and so does a mysterious video.

The faux documentary style works, the low key acting, it's not so much a "slow burn" as it is the mystery and the unease being built up oveer what happened to this almost painfully earnest fellow to the found footage finale that's one of the more sadistic and unsettling stretches of film I'd seen in awhile.

I'm watching the sequel tonight, so I'll let you know my thoughts.

Just watched this nutty little monster movie. It's about shipwreck survivors on an island with a man eating pygmy tribe that resembles the Zuni fetish doll from Trilogy of Terror
https://youtube.com/watch?v=HUzBuAJnzsU
Yeah Charles Band is a big piece of shit. He attempted to scam VHS collectors years back.

Damn what an asshole. The fact that he's willing to screw over directors who worked for him and fans with false promises of VHS really says what a garbage person he is.

Anyone other seen the horror trilogy Hell House their pretty good o remember leaning about them because Foundfix covered them. Their pretty good horror movies with impressive lore for a b-horror movie Trilogy. I really love the idea of a Haunted house attraction really being haunted and bad shit actually happening plot.

I was shocked that none of the rights holders of the movies went after his ass. Or at least not publicly. It was even funnier when people were catching onto Band's scam and he claimed that suddenly a flood destroyed the rest of the old boxes he was planning on selling.

So I saw this pop up on the metaverse and could not believe it was a real thing so I went looking for the trailer.
By the time Disney gave up the rights to Winnie the Pooh as it has fallen onto the public domain, some indie crew could just make him into a horror. They also made a Cat in the Hat horror movie.

Oh i just meant in terms of the original story.

Cat in the Hat was kind of a horrifying story given that he shows up and completely wrecks the house.
When the putting the pieces in, yes that is true. Dr. Seuss has been notorious for his weird, nonsensical, over-the-top nature. Yet, they are still iconic for every generation of children, from being influenced to being parodied.

Glad that people are showing off the marvel and potential of IPs entering the public domain by making stupid, boring shit like this.

So, I rented it on Amazon and for3 dollars, I can say, it was worth it.
I was expecting it to go full paranormal activity sequels and go A BLUU BLUU every five seconds, but they didn't. They do make a very convincing case that it could just be another documentary (It fooled my girlfriend) I would say, I was worried it would answer way too many questions, but honestly, they didn't answer any, instead adding a more and more.
A literal throw away line is when watching the Gary snuff film, a characters grandpa yells "They're back!"
It's a little over an hour, costs less than a soda on Amazon (It's not on putlocker as far as I know and I don't trust new websites) so I don't see why I should give it a bad score.
7/10

Anyone seen the new Scream yet? My wife is bugging me about it but I'm really not feeling it after the last one. Is it watchable enough to suffer through in a theater to shut her up?

I don't want to watch the new Scream. I refuse.

Just watched Demons, the 1985 Italian horror about a bunch of movie-goers turned into demons buy a cursed film. As you'd expect from an Italian film of the era it's completely over the top, makes little to no sense, has a comically bad dub, and yet somehow it all works. Despite how trashy the whole thing is, there is some good use of lighting and some parts are still pretty creepy (there always seems to be something unsettling about silhouetted figures with glowing eyes), so overall I really enjoyed it.

What I didn't enjoy on the other hand was The Lair, you would have thought being directed by Neil Marshall might mean something, but this was awful. Mostly I was just distracted by the terrible cgi muzzle flashes and how the lead always looked like she'd stepped straight out of the make up trailer.

Tony the Pimp was the best character in that, by far.

I rewatched that not too long ago... somehow I had it in my head that it was an Italian xerox of Night of the Demons, but it actually beat it out by a few years. The random punk gang reminds me of Return of the Living Dead, but that came out only a couple months earlier. All three have pretty cool soundtracks but Italian horror is always the most metal.

I saw Scream 6.

Not much to say about it.

"Do you like Scream? Well, here's the same shit yet again."
It's gorier, script is tight, it's better than 5

5/5 best slasher ive seen in a long time, will need to rewatch sober but yes absolutely worth watching in cinema with a fun and drunk audience i had a fucking blast

I thought it was a massive POS and the only things I liked about it were the Giallo reference and the bit where the guy watches Jason Takes Manhattan.
