Unfortunately Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are on that train. I mean in the sense that they tolerate that garbage. I guess doing horror your whole life immunities you to real life horror.
It's not even a true tranny but one of those look at me they/themers who just want to feel special because they lack a real personality.

The trailer for EDR isn't bad, I mean overall it's pretty good but... It really feels like it this a script that was retooled into an Evil Dead movie rather than an actual Evil Dead movie. Sure, The Hole in the Ground was.... pretty good, I guess. Enough to put the franchise in his hands, though? HitG is also about possession thematically, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was some idea he had been working on for a while and decided to turn it into Rises.

Doesn't mean it's necessarily gonna suck, or be subpar. I don't know, it feels off to me, and the whole 'Let's set it in an apartment building' and the visuals are a little too close to [REC] to my liking, down to the chainsaw shot. I mean it looks like they might have chosen basically the same fucking model, just from current year.

I don't know. It's by far one of my favorite franchises, there hasn't been a single shitty entry so far, but I'm really worried. At the very least, the scalping shot is giving me some hope.

Fake edit: Ok, well apparently the test screenings were so good that instead of having it released straight to streaming they decided to give it a theatrical release, so I guess I'll be cautiously optimistic.

What are you talking about? 2013 fucking sucked.
I was going to say season 3 of Ash VS Evil Dead but... I wouldn't say the remake was bad just underwhelming until we get to the last 10-15 minutes.

Looks good. The change of location was appreciated.
My biggest gripe is that it didn't use the setting at all. You going to name it 'Rise' and not make the deadite go hog wild in an apartment rise to infect and spread to random people ala Demoni? And for said deadite to focus on a small family instead? What the fuck?
Also, the lacks of any male character at all irks me something fierce. No, I do not count the tranny.

One of the main actress is a gender special, which is always a bad sign
If it helps, the tranny spoiled that she dies via face rip on her instagram.

Nah. Playing it entirely straight was a... jarring choice at first but it made sense when you realize that it is a remake of the original, not what came after, and that pretty much only Bruce Campbell can pull off Bruce Campbell.

It wasn't the greatest but it definitely didn't suck. The ending really picks up, too.

Also it really seems to fuck up the lore, the whole reason why the deadites go after Ash etc... is because they want the book and to unleash hell on earth, it's not just to terrorize randos, so I don't see how it's gonna work... The whole point of them being isolated is that it made it hard for deadites to actually possess anyone.

Groovy!

Looks good to me. Like the cheese grater to the arm. Hopefully they make more installments in this franchise. I would like to see Evil Dead in Space or Evil Dead in the Hood. Maybe even an Evil Dead/Back to the Future crossover where Marty brings the Necronomicon to the past and hilarity ensues. An Evil Dead Christmas special would be pretty good too. Imagine a deadite Santa bringing death and dismemberment to all the little girls and boys.

No it was a perfectly fine horror movie in the vein of the first Evil Dead while doing enough to not be a simple remake of that movie. If one went into the movie expecting, it to be like Evil Dead 2 I can see them being disappointed.

Agreed on A vs. EOD. They screwed up the final season by firing the original showrunner and changing what he wanted to do with Dana.

Yes I want to be able to buy oranges and lettuce and shit with Evil Dead advertisements and shit on the package. And Evil Dead black figures in Wal Mart.

And an Evil Dead cartoon series. Bruce needs some retirement money.
Would you buy an Evil Dead dildo and pay a hooker to split your ass with it as she screams out Ash quotes?

some batshit Evil Dead Saturday Morning Cartoon like they tried Aliens would probably be fucking amazing like Rambo vs The Yamato

No but I have whipped out my dick with a woman and said, "This. Is my BOOM STICK!" And asked her to give me some sugar.

Indeed. Unfortunately, they don't make awesome shit like that anymore. Must have been really good coke back in the 80s and 90s.

I half-expected a movie with 3.5 stars on Amazon Prime to be at least okay but Bloody Summer Camp was a such a boring dreck even if it was suppose to be "homage" to Friday the 13th. First off, it was a little over 2 hours, which is made apparent by how some scenes drag on. The kills are all basic but most of the movie is just the characters not getting along or some being creeps to others. Then there is the sheriff who acts like he's in a later Scary Movie entry (including a scene about profiling that was as subtle as brick to the face).

I want to talk about who was the killer and the twist because it made no fucking sense! At the climax, Final Girl and Love Interest find the best friend of Love Interest, who discovered some dead bodies in a supply cabin, holding the mask he worn during a fire story earlier (and was reprimanded by the camp owner). Best Friend blames Final Girl for everything that has happened and the film seems to reveal he is the killer. Best Friend said he was told he was becoming too old to be a counselor and would be replaced by someone younger, i.e. Final Girl. A chase and scuffle ensues where Love Interest is killed, either inadvertently by Best Friend, advertently by Best Friend, or inadvertently by Final Girl (I can't really remember because I just wanted it to end). Final Girl kills Best Friend after being saved by the Red Herring character.

The next day, Final Girl's mother arrives to take her home along with another camp counselor, who is in a wheelchair and had disappeared at the halfway mark and was supposedly dead in the supply cabin. It's revealed, after the survivors leave, to the cops that three separate bodies (outside of the camp) were discovered and one of them was the real wheelchair-bound counselor. It then cuts to the fake counselor and gives a lengthy flashback to show he was the real killer. He killed the owner of the convenience store Final Girl and her best friend stopped at in the beginning and commented how no one was there. He later killed the handicapped counselor (and his father) before stealing his identity. The flashback also shows the killer faked his disappearance and when Best Friend discovered the cabin of bodies, tricked Best Friend into believing Final Girl was the killer before acting he was dead. The movie ends with his hand touching Final Girl's hand, implying his next victims will be Final Girl and her mother.

My issue with this whole twist is if the actual killer was a psychopath on the loose, it was never hinted at. There was nothing about an escaped mental patient either as a news bulletin or small talk from the camp staff. Perhaps it was telegraphed but I'm not going to watch this movie again.

This movie actually made the gorehound in our group feel dizzy. Imagine a spiny parasite that pierces your skin to dig into you and puppets your body with you still inside it, and it doesn't understand how your body is supposed to move. It's a pretty simple production, it all takes place at a gas station, but you can really tell some love and talent went into this movie. I was caught off guard by the acting chops on the nobodies involved in this production. I very much recommend if you're into body horror and appreciate smaller scale horror survival scenarios.
I liked the makeup but I think I'm just tired of siege movies so I couldn't complete it. If you've seen Night of the Living Dead, Assault on Precint 13 and one or two others kind of like The Myst then I think you've effectively seen them all and can guess the plot points it will follow. You can make the same criticism about a lot of movies of course but your average slasher makes up for it in carnage.

I rewatched Night of the Living Dead today and it was kind of a sad experience. This is my first viewing after a long time and while I used to really enjoy it a lot of it fell flat to me. The entire opening sequence is still excellent and there are some great shots with the black and white look, but I found a lot more dead air and felt irritated by the characters. I don't know if it's the hype around it being a socio-political masterpiece getting to me (I don't see a lot of Vietnam/Civil Rights stuff in the movie, and honestly have always found Romero's social commentary attempts to be his weak link) or just tastes changing as I get older. It got me bummed out, and while I've never been crazy about Dawn of the Dead, I've always liked Day the most, and hope I haven't soured on that one too.

This is my hot take: Night of the Living Dead is not a flawless masterpiece. It's good. It's a very important film. But it has flaws. Mostly regarding the acting of everyone except Duane Jones and the fact that Barbara becomes a prop once she makes it to the farm house. I think the Savini remake is slightly better but it lacks the impact of the violence the original had.

In the original Dracula and Reinfield movie, there was always what look like bees coming out along him with when he rises from the casket. I think the idea is from that, even though I found it weird to be used like this.
I think the idea they had was just to gay up Dracula. Which has already been done...

This looks fucking awful. And Renfeild gains super powers now when he eats bugs? WUT?
Not sure why they are going the action route with it instead of a weird horror comedy. Reminds me of that awful Victor Frankenstein mixed with awful I, Frankenstein from the trailer. Least Nic Cage looks to be having fun

Looking up t he writer is Ryan Ridley who did a number of Rick and Morty episodes (none of the awful ones) and director is Chris McKay who did The Lego Batman Movie and The Tomorrow War, Won't call them bad but for sure not a fit with what this movie should be.
