The trailer for
EDR isn't bad, I mean overall it's pretty good but... It really feels like it this a script that was retooled into an
Evil Dead movie rather than an actual
Evil Dead movie. Sure,
The Hole in the Ground was.... pretty good, I guess. Enough to put the franchise in his hands, though?
HitG is also about possession thematically, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was some idea he had been working on for a while and decided to turn it into
Rises.
Doesn't mean it's necessarily gonna suck, or be subpar. I don't know, it feels off to me, and the whole 'Let's set it in an apartment building' and the visuals are a little too close to [REC] to my liking, down to the chainsaw shot. I mean it looks like they might have chosen basically the same fucking model, just from current year.
I don't know. It's by far one of my favorite franchises, there hasn't been a single shitty entry so far, but I'm really worried. At the very least, the scalping shot is giving me some hope.
Fake edit: Ok, well apparently the test screenings were so good that instead of having it released straight to streaming they decided to give it a theatrical release, so I guess I'll be cautiously optimistic.
