I would have thought so but the characters are really that fucking obnoxious
at least Christmas Bloody Christmas, dunno about the other one
Nah the characters in Christmas Bloody Christmas were dogshit, I'm talking about Violent Night.

Movie's only real issue for me was the pacing, gets bogged down in the middle. It could've trimmed about 20 minutes of bullshit and been even better, but that third act was fucking wild. I almost regretted taking my son to see it, haha.

Violent Night was... Okay. It has a mix insufferable characters with at least a few likable ones and casting the Stranger Things guy as Santa was a great choice.

5/10 movie.

Better than Barbarian. At least it didn't flop in the final act. 😉

Anyways, after family Christmas stuff was over, I sat down with a drink and watched Skinamarink. Holy shit what a pretentious fart-huffing snorefest.
I forget who praised Skinamarink, and these trannies are making it impossible to read back pages, but that one dude shitting on it was 1000% correct.

Speaking of schlocky Christmas-themed horror films, has anyone else noticed a strange uptick of interest in that old Jack Frost killer snowman movie from the 90's? The one with the holographic cover that seemed to be in every damn video store in the late 90s and early 2000's?

Cinema Snob, Ryan Hollinger, and a couple of other YouTubers have all made videos about it in the past few weeks.

I have not noticed (probably because I don't watch youtubers). However, there was some minor controversy with that one in the 90s due to the kids movie also being called Jack Frost.

There also is just not a lot of (good) Christmas horror movies. I personal favorite is probably Santa Slays due to how ridiculous it is. And Silent Night Bloody Night.

I just watched Watcher (2022) with the chick from It Follows, and it could have been at least 9/10 easily, if not a 9.5 or even 10 if it hadn't fucked the ending so badly. All you had to do was to leave her dying on the floor, have the Spider look at her husband, and him walk away as the husband still discounts him and knocks on the door, as is she slowly dying and he doesn't break in the door because he still doesn't believe her though he's just seen that creep coming out of the apartment and he hears her cellphone. There, bleak as fuck ending that just reinforces every fucking theme of alienation, spousal indifference, etc... that were the point of the whole movie.

Instead the ending make it a lukewarm 6.5/10. Had everything to become a modern classic that would have been mentioned alongside movies like The Vanishing and shit, but instead they had to go and give it a fucking grrrl power ending where even with her throat slit she's able to outfox the serial killer, shoot him dead without him hearing her get chekov's gun get up and aim, and be composed enough to give her husband a SEE TOLD YOU SO YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO ME I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG *CLAP* BELIEVE *CLAP* ALL *CLAP* WOMEN *CLAP*.

Acting is fucking top notch between the two main characters, cinematography is wonderful, the city itself feels like its alive, beautiful and threatening at the same time, script is super tight, doesn't overstay its welcome, doesn't really on cheap jump scares even once, you legit doubt at the end whether the guy is the serial killer or not because the spider got supposedly caught by the police and he's still free, the fake out with the music that makes you think the neighbor is still alive and the chick was really just crazy was really good, it opens the door to wonder whether someone else is the killer, etc..

Fuck, such a disappointment after an almost flawless 1:30:22 seconds, they fucked it up so bad. It manages to undo itself in a literal fucking minute at the end. At 1:31:22 the credits are rolling and it's now a disappointment instead of a classic.

Santa Slays rules. Silent Night from 2012 is also pretty mean spirited. It's a remake of Silent Night, Deadly Night, and was inspired by the IRL Covina massacre where a guy in a Santa costume murdered a bunch of his ex-wife's family at a party.

All Through the House from 2015 is also pretty brutal.

I really hated the Silent Night Deadly Night remake.

It has become somewhat of a cult classic in recent years since it doesn't take itself seriously while the actors for the sheriff, the FBI agent, and Jack Frost are praised for their performances. That being said, YouTubers either get on their high horse about the carrot rape scene or just don't talk about it.

Yeah, it had some good gore but that's it. I could just watch a kill reel for that. I need more. Plus the unlikable lead character, more so that she was just excessively bland, didn't add anything and neither did Malcom Mcdowell showing up for a day of shooting and sleep walking through is performance. And I like Mcdowell a lot.

NB4 "Bruno is just a hypocrite and a fraud because he likes Terrifier and weird ultra-violent Eyetalian horror movies."

No.

Those movies had more to them even the trashiest among them. One thing with Terrifier is that Art the Clown is a personality, he's like a silent Freddy, he adds a whole other dimension to it. Not to mention that in the 1st Terrifier that it takes some twists and turns you don't expect. Terrifier 2 ratchets that up. In regards to other pictures there was more going on such as interesting locations, killer lore, really well shot murder scenes, and various bizarre wtf things in the trashier outings.

Sure the Terrifier films are better, it's still an entertaining Christmas movie though. *shrug*

If I'm watching a Christmas slasher, all I really want is some good gore/good kills. Still better than that Skinamarink dogshit you jerked off over.

The company that put out the holographic tape was Apex (I think?) they also did the same thing for another DTV turd Uncle Sam. Jack Frost is a fun zero budget film that was born to be a cult classic. It gets referenced often enough in the horror community even since it's inception especially for the snowman rape scene.

Speaking of Terrifier, am I too late to the party to talk about Terrifier 2?
Because I watched it on Christmas Eve and I liked it a lot more than the first.
It was a good slasher movie, and it was clearly made with a passion for the practical effects, and I thought it had it's moments where it was pretty funny.
Which is cool, because I thought the first one was just barely better than unwatchable.

I fucking knew some magic She-Ra type shit was going to happen with that sword, but when it actually happened, I was still surprised and amused. I think it was great and shlocky, when you would assume that kind of thing would feel like pandering. One thing I was wrong about though, as the movie went on, I thought for sure that Art was going to turn out to be her dead dad, and that's why she can come back from dying too. But I was wrong.

That's sad, but god damn Cannibal Holocaust is still a great fucked up movie. Honestly I don't think anything could beat it since it felt so authentic that some retards actually thought it was real deaths.

But one thing I was surprised about with Cannibal Holocaust is that it has a really great soundtrack.

The little bootleg tape I have with Deodato and Robert Kerman's autograph means just a little bit more to me now. I didn't get a chance to really chat with Ruggero but everyone said he was a very pleasant man to fans and to chat with.

Random post but I'm still sick over the cancelled Cronenberg Fly sequel he was trying to get made about a decade ago. Fox wouldn't give him the budget he wanted for effects and that was that. I'd love to read the script he wrote but that'll never become available.
