It's kinda sad that the only Halloween movies I really liked were the original 1 & 2. This franchise is over 40 years old.

Halloween 5 would've been an easy hit if they just followed where 4 ended and kept the autumnal vibe that made that one really good in spite of its flaws, but they didn't, so you just get a disappointing follow up.
I'd be interested in seeing the uncut version of 5. Apparently there was a whole scene with Myers tearing apart a swat team.

I'm the same way except I only really like part 2 and 3.

Saw Halloween: When Michael Met Corey tonight. It was pretty shitty.

The script almost feels repurposed. At the very least, I'm 1000% sure the first version had Michael being a hallucination for Corey wherein you'd find out that the Shape actually died between movies or some shit. It's also completely anti-climatic -- after the two big show downs in the last two, the ending for this one is incredibly limp and weak.

The radio station and the weird, multi-social class gang killings were okay, though.

Now that would have made things interesting. What they wound up making was pretty bad.

Halloween Ends is almost impressive in it's divisiveness, people either love it or hate it, which fair enough, but you should wanna make the end of a trilogy something that appeals to all horror fans.

I liked the new Halloween trilogy overall. I think the original is lightning in a bottle that the series will never achieve again so I get what I can from the sequels and don't mind when they try some different shit sometimes.

I don't know how Blumhouse can keep milking the Halloween franchise (as they stated after the 2018 release) if they can't keep relying on Jamie Lee Curtis.
Funny enough, I think Blumhouse even realized this because the franchise rights are reverting back to the Akkad family (no relation to Sargon) after this movie.

In terms of slasher franchises still clinging to life, supposedly there is a Maniac Cop TV series coming to HBO from Nicolas Winding Refn and John Hyams which sounds too good to be true and all the news is from 2019.

Also, Lionsgate is no doubt trying to pump out another Leprechaun movie since it's been 4 years since the last one. Looking that up, I came across this piece of information I never saw before:

Thank God for Tony Todd.

Leprechaun in Space is better than Jason X, Leprechaun in the Hood is better than Jason Takes Manhattan, and Tony Todd backed out because he knew Candyman would get his shit rekt. It's a shame we will never see the two greatest non-white slasher icons fight because Candyman vs Leprechaun surely could have surpassed Freddy vs Jason.

As for the future of Michael Myers, H3 already established a precedent for robot clones, so that's one way they could go. I think we all know we're nowhere close to done if we haven't seen Michael Myers 1) go to outer space or 2) somehow cross over into the "real" world. The future looks bright!

Fuck off, Jason Takes Manhattan is a great movie, the only problem is that it was solved as Jason in NYC which is why people threw a shitfit, but if it had been called Jason Takes A Cruise 90% of the complaints about it would not exist.

The only "vs" movie we should mourn is Freddy vs Jason vs Ash

Any of the Friday the 13th movies are better than Halloween Ends. Jesus on my second viewing how saw how shitty this movie is. Jesus Christ what were they thinking with this trilogy.

Yeah they didn't call it Jason Takes a Cruise because nobody wants to see Jason taking a cruise because it's a shit premise, there you go. It's ok, but it's no Lep in the Hood.

After this movie no body should give Rob Zombie any shit. Yes his movies were bad but this one goddamn.
No deal! I notice everyone stopped talking about Rob Zombie Munsters as soon as it came out, nobody even wants to see how bad it is firsthand as a joke.

There's always room for giallo or films that are adjacent to it. One where black gloves are traded in for what might be black magic, and no slasher set-pieces or anything, just the psychological equivalents thereof as Mimsy Farmer's character is being stalked by ghostly visitors and odd slips in reality. Is she going mad, being driven mad on purpose, or worse?

It's a very Polanski-inspired Giallo with shades of The Tenant. Great film.

Fine but I do agree that munsters movie as an abomination. The two TV movies on the Munsters were a lot better compared to that hunk of shit
