Failed at the choir gauntlet as expected. I got there at 4 hour mark, died a bunch, did some backtracking to get some extra tools and masks. Got back at the 4h20 mark, and banged my head on the wall until 5h and still couldn't get past them. That shit is hard.
Trobbio took me 4-5 tries, and the platforming challenge after the Clockwork Dancers also killed me a couple of times, but nothing that should really affect the run.

For next try I'll plan a way to get some good tools and masks as part of the main path so I don't waste time on the backtracking.
Maybe I'll try using the Reaper Crest, it's easy enough to get. After 80h of playtime I have only used the hunter crest, maybe some other would be best for this gauntlet.
I'd also love to get the Thread Storm, but I don't think it's worth the timesink of doing the Craw Lake area.
You should be able to skip moorwing, and maybe even 4th chorus and the drifter's cloak, tho I don't know if the former saves time, since it requires you to get the 5 fleas before greymoor.
Alternatively, you can skip sister spliner quite easily by taunting enemies in the sprie room.

The 4th chorus and the drifter's cloak takes at max 10 minutes, and the 4th chorus is way too easy to even bother skipping. I also enjoy having the cloak for combat.
Skipping the moorwing is a lot more impactful because it is the first big roadblock in the run. I'll lookup the best ways to avoid him. But if it's only doable by using the simple key in the wormways, then I prefer fighting him than wasting 500 rosaries on the key.
The sister splinter I'll give it a try, I didn't know it was possible to skip.

I found it on a video about finishing the game using only tools to damage enemies that she's skippable, 4th chorus should be skippable too with faydown cloak, but its not that easy.

Fourth chorus took me 5+ tries because I was too retarded and just kept hitting it. Then I realized you're supposed to fly up and hit the ceiling and beat it first try.
Also a super cool boss design, despite how easy it is.

Beat Lost Lace! Very nice ending

Absolutely worth $20! Almost exactly 80 hours across about 90 50 days, probably 20 hours of that was spent fighting bosses, and probably another 20 hours backtracking to look for stuff. At least 40 hours of fun exploration and questing.
The music was done by live strings and winds, listed above. The soundtrack is on par with the original and I am not disappointed. I will remember this game just as well as the first.
Worth the weight!!!
Interesting that I finished act 1 at almost exactly 40 hours and act 3 and almost exactly 80 hours.

Clawline is strictly required for reaching High Halls containing one of the melodies, and Drifter’s Cloak is strictly required to reach the area of Underworks containing the Clawline.

You can delay getting the drifter’s cloak until that point.

Congrats but Silksong was released exactly 50 days ago on September 4.

You can skip drifter cloak, but it requires a reaper crest + flea juice.
You can see the skip there, combined with the fact that rescuing 5 fleas gets you to moorwing arena, is technically possible.
For the 5 fleas...
1: marrow after bell beast
2: deep docks near dash
3: deep docks bellway
4: hunter's march after miniboss
5: far field top left path
I don't know if it saves time, but this makes you able to skip moorwing, 4th chorus and drifter cloak, but it also adds a detour to get reaper crest to obtain clawline, as well as rescuing 5 fleas and backtracking.

Thinking about the fleas again and how to optimize getting them:
- The one in the Marrow is a non-issue, just a 30-50 seconds detour.
- The deep docks one you get after the dash also isn't an issue, 20 seconds at max.
- I have killed the Skarrguard so many times in my steel soul runs I cannot be bothered to explain how piss easy he is a ls a miniboss still, the flea is not in front of the entrance so it should take 2 minutes if you quit and load back to the bench you find grindle in.
- The one in Far fields is the reason we still need to kill Lace, should take 3 minutes to reach her after, then you could load back to the bellshrine bench and backtrack to Mooska via bellway.

Ok I think I have a path for speedrun:
- You need to get around 200 rosaries along the way.
1. Collect enough beads on your path to activate the bellway in Deep docks.
2. Skip a good portion of the Marrow by baiting a beastfly to the top part of the room you meet Sherma and pogo on it.
3. Get spear and beat Bell beast.
4. Rescue the 1st flea.
5. Sit in the room you first meet Grindle in.
6. Bear skarrguard and quit-out after rescuing the 2nd flea.
7. Enter Deep docks and get the sprint.
8. Rescue the 3rd flea.
9. Activate the Deep docks bellway (40 rosaries) and rescue the 4th flea.
10. Beat lace, activate and sit on the bellshrine.
11. Rescue the Far fields flea and quit-out.
12. Travel back to Mooska via bellway.
13. Get flea brew and access Bellhart.
14. Bait flower enemies in the spire room to skip sister Splinter
15. (technically optional but recommended) Kill Widow
16. (optional but recommended) Free weapon upgrade
17. Get reaper crest
18. Enter sinner's road and access to the Mist from the breakable wall in the chest room
19. Beat Phantom
20. Sit on great bellway's bench and equip fleabrew.
21. Reach 1st shrine, get the surgeon key and quit-out after you activate the ventrica station (80 rosaries).
22. Run to Whiteward, get Clawline via fleabrew + reaper crest pogo.
23. Use the underworks Ventrica station (80 rosaries) to reach first shrine and beat cogwork dancers.
24. Sits on the core's bench.

25. Threefold's melody
Now, I'd be lying if I said I know what's the optimal path, cogwork core without drifter's cloak is a mess, especially the descent, you cannot quit-out for this, but you should be fine for the other two, so you can technically get the conductor's melody and vaultkeeper's melody, quit-out and and then find yourself back at the Core's bench.

26. Kill Lace
27. Kill Gilf silk

I have the suspicion that 200 easy to pick rosaries are along the way and requiring minimal detours or ebemy fights, the first 30 for exsmple should be in the form of a frayed string in moss grotto, its not a real detour to get those, since its just 3 seconds to get

Lost lace is bullshit difficulty. Way too much bullshit unavoidable damage I can’t even endure it with plasmium overdose. This has already drained my shard bundles and I’ll have to leave to shop for more using my rosary chains. This is after about ten hours of attempts over the last week or so.

I’ll try again tomorrow and try to tool spam even more with reserve bind, but that will drain my entire inventory in 2 or 3 attempts.

She isn't hard but just tedious. Almost every move she makes is punishable, but you'd rarely manage to get more than one hit before she teleports out. The full minute of phase change is the fucking worst, and you can get fucked by the void moves melding into the background.

I recommend just getting gud and Wanderer cresting it, saving the tools for the last phase.

When I saw them I thought "oh hey, clock tower"
Then when I walked under one and he cut his way through the ceiling to ambush me, i thought "oh hey, clock tower"
I hate scissormen. Most annoying enemy to fight unless I've equipped a long range weapon. when I fought one it went down but got glitched into getting stuck on a rock so I enjoyed pounding that sucker. I've barely managed to get the wall jump ability and man is this game much harder than hollow knight. The poggo sticking ability was OP in the first game..Can't wait for people to mod the night and hornet switching places.

The Green Prince is just a pale fork psy-op to make him look better. Change my mind
I was told that the green prince destroyed Verdania by killing the Palestag and blamed the citadel for it.
Think about it, he has "Pale" in his name, thus he's correlated to the divine, maybe even being a pale creature himself and Hornet herself describes it as "being one with the surronding enviroment".
It doesn't take much since he always cared more about his people than his family.
He never really went as far as turning people's souls into glowing flies to put into lightpoles forever.
Sacrifying millions of eggs to the void so that only a single vessel would escape the abyss? That's just r strategy for you, extremely common among bugs too.

Completed the game. Many things have been said already, so some random thoughts:
Seeing a homo as a bad guy in Current Year was a welcomed surprise, if a late one. I'm also not sure about the plot: Apparently, the Weavers got fed up with her mom god and her tyrannical rule and how she genocided anyone that opposed her.

So they sealed her and then set up an even worse and more tyrannical caste that worked around a pyramid scheme of suffering and faith, then some left to other tribes/kingdoms (later their subjects would realize that perhaps the god mom wasn't that bad in comparison, but it was too little, too late). Fast forward some decades/centuries, everyone is born with silk due to endless experimentation and messing with the thing, which allows the Grandma Silk to mind-control people and start working her way out of her seal/sleep. She looks for Weavers in other Kingdoms for... Reasons (eat them to weaken her seal? Have them serve her?), but it seems it went badly for the other Weavers as they're all last survivors of their people in each case. I would have thought their kind would thrive due to the magic silk thing and its endless aplications, unless they were so insufferable they were ((genocided)) in each case, or perhaps because there were too many lesbian couples and not enough children.
Either way, Horn is seen as a good specimen due to her demigoddess status, is captured, and the game starts. Once the game is over, I assume Hornet leaves along with Lace, because the latter has no reason to stick around.

How will Zote's Bizarre Adventure for Hollowknight 3: The Hollowing be like? We should get it as it was a kickstarter goal IIRC.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. After Grandma Silk arrived and destroyed some kingdoms like the one of those coral bugs and turned pharlids into Weavers the latter betrayed her with the goal of taking over. The Citadel is more or less a glorified slaughterhouse where bugs are made to work until exhaustion and sacrificed with the goal of keeping that melody playing, probably because it acts as a seal and the silk you get from the sacrificed bugs is what powers it. The kingdom starts collapsing probably due to running out of silk and the Weavers flee to the other kingdoms, and sometime in between this and when Hornet is captured Grandma creates Lace and the Phantom. Dude to Widow still being alive after being captured, she probably doesn't consume the Weavers, but for some reason wants to bring them back to Pharloom.

Also Weavers are essentially sterile, that's why they tried to create Ava but they fucked up during the process. And yeah Hornet and Lace probably leave since Pharloom doesn't serve any purpose without the Citadel or Grandma Silk around, as those things were the reason for the endless arrival of pilgrims. I want to believe that they go back to Hallownest, although that kingdom is probably just empty as fuck without the infected bugs around

I got Lace 3 with the extra honorable strategy of plasmium overdose, avoiding contact at any cost and a wispfire lantern doing literally all of the damage since I mis-inputted the craft bind and didn’t refresh my tools.

100% completion in 125 hours

But how? The bosses attack too fast to react, too unpredictably to react correctly and many have extra bullshit filling the screen. They punish me for being in the wrong place but I have no way to tell where I should go without just throwing bodies at it and finding out.

It's pretty standard case of women in power.

Probably late for it, but the place you should always be whenever you can is double jump over any boss near the edge of the screen. Rarely anything can touch you and you are able to pick the right moment to attack. Heck, even the parry is easy to just double jump over and punish no matter how she reacts.
