If you aren't braindead and actually using any crest that isn't wanderer or reaper, you could switch to architect and try a plasmium overdose (or get the overdose on any other crest and walk your way to mt.fay from wormways, if you can stand the runback and not using benches)
This is all the stuff that comes to mind that can help you with that area, it's not combat oriented, just a platforming gauntlet.
Thanks, it was just a matter of skill and actually getting good more than it was not having everything appropriate for the area. Avoiding it for awhile helped, weirdly enough. Crestwise, I used Hunter (lol I know, but I get better air/timing with the diagonal pogo)

The lifeblood injector+ extra silk storage for heals and yeeting was basically mvp for me, never used flint at all despite carrying it surprisingly.

-Also was so ready to fuck up that bird's day, lol best boss.

So what would you say is SS's Path of Pain?
I can't point to one platforming segment, but a few of them echoed PoP at times. The moving blade that you have to pogo off of as it meanders along a rail felt like a defanged version for sure.

So what would you say is SS's Path of Pain?
The closest thing is the final climb, but even then its not really as long or complex, tho its final segment is quite annoying but overall it doesn't get on the same level of path of pain.
Cogwork core has too many skips ti be that difficult.
Chapel of the beast is boring.
Mount Ray is on the same level of white palace, even the hidden cave ain't that bad.

This unironically made me mad as fuck

How the fuck was I supposed to know that all the fucking money would disappear the moment I grabbed the item?
I don't even wanna know how much money I lost

Mooshka if you don't just give me the win I am throwing you in the shit water

It’s cruel, but you should have already bought almost everything that can be bought at this point so it doesn’t really sting that much. Beside the final nail upgrade that is. I did the exact same thing lmao.

Flea juggle is the worst flea party game, barely crawling across the finish line is my masterpiece of gaming. Otherwise, the act 3 side content seems actually pretty fun so far.

Played for 10 more hours and got a second ending
I beat the game, for real now.
96% done, 61h. All bosses (except for Shakra because it seems it's a fucking missable fight). Missing only a few mementos, tools and memory lockets.
I think the ending to HK was better, it felt more epic. But the last boss fight here is much more fun (I'm not a fan of radiance).
I'm satisfied with the game, it's probably my goty, but it didn't blow me away like HK did. In fact, there were many little things that I think HK did better.

I'll probably need more time to think on what and why, but for now I'll just do some superficial opinion dump.
Karmelita is my favorite boss now, the soundtrack mixed with her moves makes it a "dance fight" like Grimm, but better. My only issue is the unnecessary gauntlet before the fight, it just seems mean spirited from the devs, it's not even hard, just a waste of time.
Lost Lace is my second favorite and Lace v2 is third. Lace is a really great fight. She really demands respect, and learning how to manually counter her parries is fucking great fun. As a character she was interesting but not as cool as Hornet was in HK. but if they do Lace as a MC in the next game I wouldn't complain.
Worst boss has to go to Broodmother, she couldn't even have the decency of being on the area on the first time you explore it, you gotta do a quest to fight what is literally dogshit. And Pinstress gets an dishonorable mention, she isn't as shallow, but she is awful to fight and has some broken ass hitboxes.

I really disliked the overuse of gauntlets, it make the world feel more artificial and gamey. Not only that, but almost all gauntlet arenas are the same rectangular box, with nothing else going for them. There was a lot more variety in the gauntlet arenas of HK.

Another thing I really didn't care for were the quests. I understand why they probably thought they were needed. Some of the bosses would be really retarded to find without a quest to point you back to a certain area, specially in act 3. But most quests are just bad, and a lot of them feel unnecessary. Literally none of the fetch quests, or grinding quest were good in any way. And the quest to trigger act 3 was just dumb.

My favorite area remains Greymoor, it's vibes are unmatched. Runner ups are Billewater and Blasted Steps for the oppressive but melancholic atmosphere.
Verdania got close, but I feel like it needed more content. It's a shame that all there is to this area are a bunch of boring orb-collecting, a bad boss fight, and a rematch against the dancers.

I think compared to HK this game lacked some combat-less areas, or more "wild" areas. For the original game, it was probably an issue of budget, but there were many areas that lacked any sort of "smart" enemies, and it felt like you were far away from civilization. Ancient Basin, Howling Cliffs, Kingdom's Edge, Fog Canyon. The only area like that in this game is Mount Fay. With infinite budget and time they probably thought it would be best for all areas to have some cool enemy, but it ended up hurting the atmosphere in a way. Even the areas that are completely "wild" still have some strong/annoying enemies to deal with. This issue also goes with the gauntlet thing. Almost all areas have a gauntlet with their specific enemies.

At first I found the Fleas less interesting than the Grubs and I think as a collectable they still are. I don't understand why Fleas don't make noise to warn you of some nearby, like the Grubs did. They are less rewarding to collect, since they don't give you money until the very end (in fact they ask for money to help you find the rest). But the payoff with the minigames was fucking great, I loved the Festival.

In fact I loved all the minigames and I wish there were more. And I also wish most of them weren't locked to the fucking endgame.
I know that there is a hit-the-target mini game in act 1 & 2 I missed that will show on the Marrow after a while, but I still think there could be more early on.

Last thought, this game is maybe too large? On replays it will probably be a lot shorter, but still, 60h is a bit too much. I was getting burned out by the end of act 3. I'll blame the quests here, they add a lot of mediocre filler time to the game that didn't need to be there.

Regarding all the difficulty talk, one thing I felt, is that the difficulty curve of this game is basically a horizontal line.
I think early game Hunter's March (with no upgrade) is basically just as hard as, if not harder, than a late game area like Verdania, with end game upgrades. Same goes for many bosses.
If you can get used to the early game difficulty, then you are set for the entire game.

How are you supposed to fund your crippling alcoholism at the halfway house?
You could have had 80 drinks!

They do. It's a bit more subtle maybe because (I think) you can hear it from a room away this time, since a bunch of em are in their own hidden screen.
I feel like they only make the snoring noise when you are right next to them, but maybe I just never noticed the noise from far away
Maybe they didn't bother adding clearer sounds because most of them are in their own rooms, but I did miss one that wasn't in his own room, and perhaps a noise closer to the grubs would have alerted me.

I died a bit too much, so there was still a lot of house upgrades and a few thief tool left to purchase.

I distinctly remember being able to hear one faintly from the bellway bench in The Slab, who was located in a nearby area I hadn't unlocked yet, so my theory is they made em subtle so it wouldn't be annoying/confusing to be hearing em in adjacent rooms all the time unless you were specifically listening for it.

But it's also possible they all have a different audio radius.

I agree it's not really distinct enough though. I didn't have any trouble finding them; there were only 4 left by the time I unlocked map markers anyway; but that had nothing to do with the audio cue. Just randomly through regular exploration. Unlike Hollow Knight, where you can hear those fuckers mimimi at you and get a bit of an anticipation moment as you specifically look for a way there.
(On the other hand this game's also a bit different since you learn to metroid every single wall to check everything anyway, unlike HK where you mainly do that when a grub lets you know there's something hidden. So they aren't directly comparable.)

I cheated all the game and beat act 3 I hope they add a feature to replay the boss I didn’t have the patient to beat the game normally and why the fuck they added a random gay character with that prince it was cringe and ironic since the area gets better once he died

From the boss battles I played normally grandmother silk is the easiest and most boring and the game felt too linear but I liked this game I think the first is better I didn’t like the crest system I only played with hunter crest evolved so there was no need to get all those other crests

The beast crest was the worst because it had that bs boss and it is useless

You are too reliant on tools but they cost shards so I didn’t use them much since if I lose it will go to waste I wish it had a different system

I liked most of the characters the story was easy to understand

I've still got to beat Lost Lace, but I had an urge to create a new save and replay the game, doing things a little differently this time. It's funny how much easier things are to me on a second run. I had lots of trouble with the Last Judge and Moorwing for example, but now they seem much easier in comparison. Maybe it's because I'm using the Wanderer's Crest instead of the Reaper Crest, or maybe I've just learned from my first playthrough. I'm making an effort to rely less on tools, which I started using heavily starting with the Last Judge, we'll see how I do. Really having a blast the second time around too!
