I never played the original game but Lace(as I've found out the boss is called) isn't really hard. It's just a boring fight. Hitting her into the lava hurts more, maybe? idk, dash-strike her when close to the edge. Other than that it's all about hanging back and waiting at the other side of the screen. Jump over, strike the ass. I like the game but that seems to be the pattern of everything I've encountered so far.
Lace is kinda like a mix between the Hornet 1 fight and the Mantis Lords in the original. The boss fight itself has been the easiest so far as (~6 hours in) she's the only one who doesn't deal double damage with her normal attacks, so you just have to jump, attack, throw her into the lava while she's staggered, repeat, and having the dash makes it a cake walk

I find it kinda funny that its Sister Splinter of all bosses who's getting nerfed because her moveset is extremely simple and easy to dodge and counterattack, the only difficult part is dealing with the minions

Moorwing gave me more trouble than I'd like to admit but in hindsight he also had a simple moveset, you just need to be aware that in phase two he will always follow up the charge with a saw

They're going to reduce the difficulty for Sister Splinter? That's too bad. I died a few times, but that fight was kinda intense and fun. I'd kinda prefer if they just refrained from doing that and instead made a separate "baby difficulty" mode for the people who want zero challenge.

Got stuck on Moorwing and Sister, smashed Widow in like five tries max.

The minions are collosal bullshit to be fair. Almost every death past the initial first I had to Sister was because of the minions pulling an attack out at the worst possible time and forcing me to eat attacks, sometimes back to back, stunlocked.

I'll let someone else make fun of you for saying this about a platformer. But FYI explore and you can get a glide move immediately afterwards that lets you hover like yoshi, so movement and combat actually get drastically easier at this point.
Well if I was worried about people making fun I wouldn't have posted anything, but it's all good. The difficulty by itself isn't the problem; what happened was that the difficulty prompted me to ask myself if I cared enough experiencing the rest of the game to push through that difficulty. I thought for a minute and decided I really didn't, so I stopped playing. It's just going to be more of the same artistic flavor I got with Hollow Knight, and that isn't enough motivation for me.

I'm one of those filthy casuals who beats Sekiro the regular way instead of Demon Bell + Charmless, so there's a limit to how much friction I'm going to put up with before I go do something else. Silksong seems like a perfectly good and reasonably well-made game, but it just isn't doing it for me. People bounce off of games; it happens.

finally got to the part people have been complaining about with the two big bugs who can make an unavoidable attack on the floor at the end of the gauntlet, its honestly not that bad it does feel bullshit because of how long it is but each fight besides the fact they put an enemy that steals your silk for LITERALLY NO REASON is pretty fair, it does suck they fucked it up with that enemy tho because if it does steal your silk you basically lose do to not being able to heal. im glad theres no runback to this gauntlet atleast which may be part of the reason i dont feel its as bullshit, its been said before so many times but runbacks are just inherently bad game design and the man who came up with them all the way back in dark souls 1 should be unceremoniously shot at point blank.

the automatons really help with the smaller enemies especially when combined with the poison, they also can really help with the giant hammer bugs if you save a few for them

Today I was done with my exams so I booted skong and played until 2 am and completed act 1.
I was not expecting the citadel to be like that.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT I DID NOT EXPECT THE CITADEL'S THEME TO BE LIKE THAT!

Did anyone else stick with the Hunter crest besides me, or is it all Reaper gang in here?

Oh hell now I have to get there. I've been tootling my way through the game and just got to blasted steps, back I'm backtracking a lot to get to all of the areas I was unable to previously because of my new move ability.
I'm one of those people that will not go into a new area until I'm convinced I've fully explored everything else to the best of my ability.

No super amazing tracks yet, but apparently this game has some serious scale. Looking forward to the citadel now.
There are lots of areas, but the areas are smaller than hollow knight's.

Game does a pretty good job of not giving you a double jump within the first 2 hours but other movement options instead.

I'm starting to use it more and more now. Getting extra silk back after using silk for health allows me to play ultra aggressive.

The reaper crest makes the game much nicer to play as someone very familiar with the original's combat. It's still not exactly the same, which is fine. But it really helps to have that downward attack to pogo off of stuff.

I was about to keep exploring, but at a certain moment I was too curious to see the citadel (and fight the boss behind him).
Heard the boss runback was long but lmao it's so easy lol.

I've been meaning to try Architect's Crest but I'm blueballed on memory lockets. Game gave out like 10 in a row so I spent them trying to expand my nature and I don't think I've seen another one since.

It's gonna be hard to switch though. I realised Silk Storm does way more damage than the other skills so I've been spamming it lately, and I love the way Reaper's rising sprint attack can dodge a lot of enemy moves by itself and let you immediately punish em with a second hit on the way down.

You guys thinking this is gonna get GOTY? Having just gotten to the Citadel I've quite enjoyed what I've played thus far; Coupled with the astounding commercial success, it's a shoo-in for a nomination and I think it's quite likely to win it. Also, now that I know the game is good, it was turbobased to blindside the industry by dropping the game within a two week span of an announcement alongside not privileging journoscum with review copies.

I think it will be, It'll probably be up there with Donkey Kong and Expedition 33

I'm just curious if this game has anything like the Godseeker post-game stuff like Hollow Knight or whatever that area was called. I've got a long way to go. I'm just taking my sweet time exploring everything before dealing with the main plot. I'll figure out why all the niggers are hanging in the air in bell town eventually, I'm sure.

okay I got a question. Should I do chapel of the reaper or shell wood first?

Also I finally murdered the whole house full of birds. Suck it birds.

The chapel of the reaper is surprisingly easy and the crest is extremely good. You attack slower, but cover a larger area, and your down attack basically becomes Sly's spin attack. You also generate extra silk when attacking enemies after healing, which allows you to chain heals (which is a must have since almost every single enemy does double damage. I was wondering why the amount of i-frames you got after getting hit seemed to be significantly lower, now I know why)
