Yes, Sirona is supposed to be the tranny, but it’s pretty subtle. The character has a decent-sized role in the first half of the game, but is hardly mentioned in the second half.
I'm still at the first part where the town is open for exploration for supplies.

One annoyance I have with Hogwarts Legacy is with their collectibles. I know I'm not far yet; I may need more magic spells for the eyeball treasure chests. It's those damn field pages scattered around the world. Are they preset in certain locations? Some of them FLY; some of them are at specific landmarks.

I do appreciate how side quests pinpoint where potential items are, although, it doesn't show you the side quest unless you're within close proximity.

You need a specific spell for the eyeball treasure chests. In the beginning, the Field Guide pages are all over the place, but later in the game, they will show up on the map only when you’re near one that you haven’t picked up yet. I think every hamlet has at least one, along with treasure chests and a Demiguise statue, which you need for another specific set of quests. You can see the stats on the Map page so you know if you missed anything. It’s not a requirement that you collect everything, of course, unless you’re like me and want to 100% the game. Just get into the habit of casting Revelio anytime you walk into a new room. You can catch the flying ones with Accio (it takes practice, though) and others are in tiny cute puzzles around Hogwarts and Hogsmeade.

Josh did a really funny playthrough for the first third or so of the game back when it came out, if you haven’t seen it yet. It’s actually still available on his Youtube page, which I’m amazed by as he commits many acts of stochastic violence. I learned a lot from him along with a select few other streamers who are Harry Potter fans.

Did you use a guide for your collectibles? If so, could you link it? I hope those flying field pages stay within a small area. I feel that particular one will be the lingering last one to complete the game.

I think the fast travel posts are on the map; that will definitely be helpful since Hogwarts is a maze. Reminds me of starting college myself. I cannot even remember which areas I have discovered or not. I have spent my time roaming around looking for side quests and chests.

What about the door puzzles?
 
Look closer at the symbols, one of them is a unicorn and another is a spider. Figure out how those translate into numbers.

If you still can't figure it out, there is a cheat sheet in the Divination tower, or Google.
I wanted to try to decipher it without a guide. That said, a cheat sheet is just an aid as is a calculator. Does the game explicitly state how to translate it or is it just going by lore knowledge?

Each symbol has something in it that gives away what number it is. The spider and the unicorn are the obvious ones.
 
It gives two random symbols with numbers on triangles. Quite vague IMHO.
I do not use a guide for the Field Pages, but there are some available. Honestly, I just cast Revelio and follow the pinging noise. You’ll need it to find treasure chests and locate enemies, too. I can’t say if the game is like other RPGs in that sense because you’re expected to use your magic spells almost constantly to get anything done, not just during combat. Every puzzle will require a spell to solve it...except for the doors.

The doors you are talking about are the Arithmancy Doors. I used a guide for those at first, but then someone on YouTube explained it really well and now I don’t need one. The creatures on the outside of the door are always in the same order and stand for a number from 0 to 9. It does sort of make sense - a runespoor (snakey thing) has three heads and stands for 3, a spider has eight legs and stands for 8, etc. You figure out what the missing number is and find the creature that corresponds to that number, then turn the lock on each side of the door to the picture of that creature. I would honestly wait until later in the game to start opening them, though, as a lot of the treasure inside isn’t anything you can use for a while. What you want to do right away is activate the Floo Points so that you can fast travel. Some of them are in strange places. The only way to open up a new part of the map is literally to walk into it - you cannot fly into a new region. If you find a place in the Highlands that is filled with a ton of enemies, chances are, there’s a quest associated with it, but you can actually just go in and wipe out all the enemies without going on the quest and they won’t respawn.

There are a few early quests where the main objective is just exploration or to teach you about a game mechanic. For instance, there is one quest involving swimming that I was really overthinking, as it turns out. You should just say yes to everything and let the game tell you what to do, or fuck up and find out what you’re supposed to do. It’s honestly a game meant for casual gamers or fans rather than serious bros. I think it would be a lot to learn if you’ve never played an RPG, for instance, but I find it way easier than something like Baldur’s Gate, which is DND and has autism rules for everything.

Others have already given some answers that cover it, I had the same hesitance when I first saw those puzzles but that was a case of overthinking the difficulty. I assumed that it might have something like a numerical code varied by each one individually, the positions of the symbols on the puzzles relative to the door might be significant and all sort of other things.

Then I remembered that that is a bit excessive for the age range aimed at and that algebra is always the right starting point. It'd been a while since I had to do those though so I was relieved to find the values of the symbols stay consistent between puzzles, once you've nailed what numbers the 10 symbols map to they should be fine from there.

Not played it much but is fun enough so far. I'd say it's not going to please those who don't think the level of game design through and go "why can't I play my precious OC who does whatever I want to, attends the classes I want to and learns the exact sort of magic I want." However having played Academagica and seen the walls of text I can understand that. I'd say it's likely the game I've seen come closest to replicating the films in the same way as the Batman: Arkham games and the Spiderman game on the PS4. Which is fairly high praise. I've friends, children of friends and family members that will love the shit out of it and since I game rarely will be passing the Switch and game on to them when I'm done and I am fairly certain it will provide many hours of enjoyment for years to come.

I don't believe I'm at a spot where enemies just pop up in the world yet. I just defeated a big troll and repaired a section of town.

My controller vibrates after Revelio whenever I'm near something. Anything. So, keep my ears open for pinging for when I'm close to a field page.

You're kidding me. It's THAT simple? Match the missing number to open the door. I cannot wait to replay the game to try that strategy out.

In other news, I got my girlfriend the Switch version for Christmas and played bit, myself. I'm a few hours in and, while it doesn't seem to be exactly the Hogwarts simulator I always dreamed of, I guess it's close enough.
They had to cut a few things to get the game out the door and it is noticeable at points. I believe there were supposed to be house points, for example. Hopefully the inevitable sequel can build on the pretty good base that's already there.

It WAS literal fucking algebra. I feel fucking dumb. Hell, each door has symbols that count down from 0 to 9 with the three numbers/symbols around the triangles that ADD UP to that particular number. Thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction
Don't worry, those doors filter a lot of people.
 
Anybody experiencing bugs with Hogwarts Legacy? I had the game crash on me after a quest. Luckily, the autosave is quite generous.

Combat with spells is more advanced than I thought. You can juggle an opponent with multiple spells.

I kind of feel like the Unforgivables are too easy; there are so many creative and frankly magnificent ways to kill enemies with magic. It’s fun when you find a winning combo (don’t sleep on Descendo and Bombarda, especially when cliffs are involved). Apparently you can also just run over them later on with one of your mounts, too.
