When people cancel their subscriptions, they ought to let them know that it's just out of consideration that the company clearly doesn't want the money they're trolling them with by subscribing.

A big chunk of people seem to have cancelled their subs but probably not enough that CR will care that much, glancing at the forums that CR themselves rarely venture to.

Majority seem to be just shrugging and saying they won't click it. No clicks = no views = no extra money to pay themselves with.

They were also the one Raye pitched the show to directly.
goddamn, their language is getting more dec-esque by the day
nothing but random buzzwords shoved into sentences

It gets better: Go to https://www.rayetoons.com/ and have a poke around.

Children's Fun Filled Fact Science Corner:

  1. This show has been in production for a year. During the trailer we saw two unfinished backgrounds. All the other HGS artwork? Raye's work.
  2. Storyboards tab - The show is a rejected idea from Nickelodeon for their shorts program from 2015.
  3. Raye seems actually pretty nice and is a rare FtM Transman. Also means he's not involved in the writing of his own fucking show as the writing room is a girls only club.

Meanwhile, a CR staffer decided dunking on their subscribers some more is the obvious solution:

Holy shit, they're not even letting the poor guy write on the show he created? That's not right.

Another WoC has come out to claim that Kate Leth's Valkyries were awful to her just because she's brown. Apparently, there was a mass exodus of WoC from The Valkyries because the white women were acting like shitty high school mean girls to them for no reason.

At some point, Kate's boyfriend chimed in to accuse this woman of not really being brown and participating in a false flag operation, because no REAL WoC would ever criticize White Savior Kate, but he deleted the tweet before I could see it.

After the "false flag" strategy didn't work, Cohen tried the "y'alls bitches just jelly" strategy, because he's a teenage girl.

It's almost cute how he's completely oblivious to how the stupid things he's saying are probably making the situation worse.

"She's spent the better part of the last decade kicking ass to get great opportunities"

That she's also pissed away because she can't write escapism, she's part of these dime a dozen writers who somehow get gigs that don't realise that even Alan Moore writes in fucking allegories, subtle as a plane crash they can be. All her comics tanked, she quit the mainstream because screeching about how oppressed gays are in the West where it's increasingly not an issue just doesn't interest people.

Her shit might've flown or been interesting 20+ years ago during the same sort of era shit like the UK was passing stuff like Section 28, or the AIDS epidemic caused real blowback and a slowing down of gay rights acceptance but banging on about it these days is just boring as fuck.

Hell, I suspect the reason Leth keeps getting gigs is because she's fucking cheap.

The most funny thing is that it dismiss ANY kind of criticism because if you dare to say is shit you are a "bad faith trolls" the worse part is his admission that he wanted to push it the damn thing just because is a all female writer team, im just going to wait how inevitably fail because first impression are important and the one i got was "this looks bland and boring"

"Spice" is an illegal drug that turns people into shuffling zombies. I'd probably give this show a chance if the characters were just pastel-haired drug addicts who could wield magic.

Crunchyroll sent out an e-mail about their Expo in San Jose and included this little blurb near the middle:

I love how the only other merit they could come up with for Raye is "lifelong anime fan"

"Womp womp".

Well at least they made the smart choice of throwing Raye up front first. Guy worked for Sprite Animation Studios and helped with storyboarding there for their co-productions with OLM inc. He was then a character designer for an amazon prime exclusive Danger & Eggs, a rather weird show in an of itself in the wonderfully imaginitive calarts style that got praised by all the usual suspects for LGBT portrayals and agenda/non-binary characters.

Oddly enough, nobody really gave a shit and it was thrown under the Amazon Prime Kids tab to the point I've never fucking seen it appear on my menus.

Finally he's done some work for Fox ADHD as a one man band shorts producer.

So Raye himself has a half decent CV for this thing, which isn't bad. If Raye were actually leading the whole thing and not dismissively shown as "show creator" there might be something interesting to see.

If we consider the money likely involved, an average anime show in Japan costs about $4m or so to make for a 1 cour (13 episodes) run. I'm not sure if that's actual production budget, or includes all the cake slices producers and other companies take to hock the merch that comes with it. Either way, CR has an income of about $85m a year, of which about half go back to anime producers in Japan.

Can't help but think they could've taken some of that cash and used it on an actual Japanese studio and gone "You guys got any original ideas for a show?"

But they wouldn't be thieves if they did that.

Just imagine the meetings with the Japanese with they shooting down every stupid idea they have

Reddit apparently got the numbers of sales of our dear "i hate all men" and holy shit is not surprise that she was kicked from everywhere, apparently the best numbers she pull was a miserable 7000 copies

I think if they keep digging we probably would have material for a thread

That's what many people have been saying in this thread. What Crunchyroll did is a waste of fucking time.

Many people who cancelled their subscriptions after this whole debacle are rightfully upset. Crunchyroll has stated that they're the "number one place to watch anime" and that they "support the industry" but then go on to make a Western cartoon with little mention of any anime influence.

I'm not against original content. Eventually they'll have to do it in order to separate itself from the crowd. But this just looks like garbage and the people working behind it having horrible sketchy pasts doesn't help them.

They could've easily put that money into something else Japanese-related but they still shilled out to the lowest common denominator.
