Only sort of between seasons. Helluva Boss released a new short last weekend, which is what sparked most of the activity. Honestly, that is probably one of the smartest things Viv has done with the series: by having two separate shows on different schedules there's almost always something new/upcoming to discuss.

I don’t think I have 80HD, but I’ve been thinking a lot about authenticity and all that feel-good bullshit lately. Society (bottom text) rewards a very specific, performative, sitcom-style “authenticity” that isn’t; it doesn’t encourage reflection or actually acting on how you work. There’s an expectation that you should Broadcast Yourself™ and be you but not like that. So when a given environment rewards a person for being a her that treats characters like dolls, she doesn’t really see a reason to stick with the story, instead of turning it into her personal dollhouse. She thinks just being her is enough to make the story cohere, even at the expense of her characters (see Vaggie, an angel that got hurt, apparently not knowing that angels could get hurt, because she’s been made an angel on a fucking whim) or the story itself (Care Bear Stare ending, Sir Pentious getting put down as a gag only to have everyone stop to break down over it, etc.) The thing about authenticity is that it’s one thing to admit things about yourself, but it’s another to look at the big picture and be honest with yourself enough to do what’s best. As a creator, she’s had years to improve and countless people giving legitimate criticism, but ultimately she’s not honest with herself. She can’t be. She’s an empty shell.
