It's full of kosher bosher vantablack niggercoal, but there is some really funny stuff on there
Marge, it should be the other way around.
m2-res_268p.mp4More capable people who wouldn't be dead could have solved this shit much easier.

WHY IS THERE NO CONFIRMATION CHADDAM IS ALIVE, VIVIANE YOU FAT BITCH.
This annoyed the shit out of me all season. I completely expected him to get a full song at some point because why else would you hire the singer of Fall Out Boy for a musical?

Then no, they do nothing with him except like three lines in the final song. He better get a full song in S3.
Imagine he avenges his father's death or does something useful.
I haven’t even been watching this show and I’m starting to miss Adam.

Hop on in! I am on "the series isn't the same without the cocky asshole" since the beginning of this season. And I don't even watch the show lul.

So the original premise of this show is dead, yeah? Cause, correct me if I am wrong, The Exterminations have stopped, Heaven is now on Charlies Side, and both sides seem to be at peace. So, someone explain this to me, why does anyone need to be redeemed, if the entire reason she wanted to redeem people is now moot!? Or are we retconning it to Charlie always wanted everyone in Heaven now?
Yeah, I guess it is retcon. There was never a proper transition to "I want to redeem Sinners so they can't be exterminated" to "I want to redeem Sinners so they can be better people". In fact, her motive wasn't even to stop the exterminations in the first place. Her entire motive was to make her mom proud of her, thinking this could bring her back.

So what the fuck even was the pilot then? If the entire thing is just being tossed in the trash bin, why bother making it, was it just to lie to everyone then?

Helluva literally remade the pilot because of this exact issue after S2.

I expect we'll at some point get the same for Hazbin.

Given the shows track record, Charlie is going to suddenly want rehabilitation to improve people from some offscreen character development.

You can definitely feel that Vivzie was writing seasons 1 + 2 with the mindset of that's all she got cause everything makes sense, but didn't bother trying to change anything when she got greenlit for more seasons which was also an issue with her other show.

The ‘overpopulation’ thing has never been a real problem anyway, since apparently: this entire show is gonna end with everyone except Alastor and Emily in Heaven; if that 4chan User is correct (which they seem to be). It really shouldn’t have been presented like it was this huge plot point, but alas, it is what it is.

Power levels, Hell/Heaven hierarchy, even its own established internal logic, character motivations, etc, are all subject to change as the writer sees fit. Nothing matters, really.

I’d probably say that Viv sits comfortably in-between Stephanie Meyer and Sarah J. Maas in terms of awful, fanfic-y, odd, shitty writing goes.

Also, what the fuck is with the drooling?! Or is it supposed to be blood (whose?) It’s mostly Alastor and Vox that do it—especially when they’re trying to be ‘’’intimidating’’’. I noticed it last season and now I can’t stop noticing it whenever those clowns do it on screen; it’s so irritating.

With how close we are to season 2 I decided to lock in my predictions for what's going to happen to just about every character of note, with just how many leaks there's been and how predictable Viv's writing is, I'm personally pretty confident I'll only end up being wrong on a couple of the ones that are more specific.
So here's how my predictions went.
Charlie: Almost completely correct, this season was easily the dumbest she's ever been, only thing wrong is Alastor's deal got used.

Vaggie: Mostly correct, the writers do try to give Vaggie her own in standing up to Charlie's stupidity and choosing her own name, but the latter is forgotten about after the first episode until the very end and she's still named after vagina, also Vox doesn't once use her being a former exorcist as part of his smear campaign despite it implicitly being public knowledge, so that's a missed opportunity to make her past actually fucking matter.

Alastor: Entirely wrong, sure he gets humiliated by Rosie, but everything after that is entire according to his plan to get out of his deal with Rosie, which he also uses his deal with Charlie to accomplish, and he even blackmails Rosie/Lilith to get his staff fixed to get back to full power, so he unquestionably is one of the characters who comes out on top this season.

Angel: Totally correct and I don't even need to explain why, it's also funny I posted this right before the Blake Roman outright told an interviewer his entire arc this season.

Pentious: Wrong, while he is miserable early in the season which we already knew thanks to leaks, he seems happier in second half of it, and he doesn't go back to Hell. I'm also guessing through how they need to show Pentious on television instead of just bringing him to Hell and how Emily is being used as a courier between him and Cherri that he's physically unable to leave Heaven.

Lucifer: Mostly wrong, like the explanation or not they did give a reason why he can't mess with Vox, and his plan to do so would have most likely worked if Angel Dust wasn't a spy, plus he wasn't injured. He does act like a retard though and the reveal of him being unable to harm Sinners is definitely them trying to limit his power so he isn't an 'I win' button like he was in S1.

Husk: Mostly wrong, I thought he'd get a bit more backstory once the episode descriptions were leaked that mentioned him "falling back into his old vices", and while he does get Angel out of his hypnotism, it's by punching him in the face and the thought of getting through to him through words is actually mocked by Cherri. But I was correct on Husk x Angel not being made official despite it being obvious it's heading that way.

Niffty: So-so, most of her relationship with Baxter outside of the finale is short background shots, she did get a decent song and I guess her own friendship beam during the ending confirms she was an Overlord, overall she shows up more often but still mainly used purely as comedic relief rather than being a proper character.

Cherri: Completely right, I can't think of one substantial scene she plays a major role in that doesn't mostly concern Pentious or Angel.

Baxter: Wrong, I thought he was going to be a spy for Vox, and what I did get right was him working at Voxtek and having a past with Pentious but that was basically confirmed even outside of any leaks.

The Vees: So-so, all three survive even though there's no explanation given to why Lucifer and Heaven would let them off the hook, Velvette gets more screentime than I was expecting but still underdeveloped in comparison in Vox and Val.

Lute: Completely right, needless to say you could write her out of the season, and nothing will change besides missing setup of her being a future antagonist. She's basically how Vox was in S1. Gravity still slaps though.

Heaven: Fairly correct, not saying completely accurate since this one was pretty vague, and I gave two outcomes, but at the end they don't really give a shit the Sinners almost started a war.

Lilith/Eve: Dead on, it ended on another tease.

EPISODE 7
Vox's plan only works because everyone is just too retarded as Lucifer shows; there's ideas that are really good on paper e.g Sir pentious being the one to helps Sera out (his reprise of "It starts with sorry" was endearing) but because of the limited runtime and all the plot threads these never get the proper set up so they feel very rushed as a result. Vox being another murderous twink is quite lame, and they should have put more focus on the cult-like mentality that he was creating among his fans before his death (why the fuck he filled a studio room with water?) song was really cool tho, in general all the songs of this episode were, great animation and all in all a good lead up to the finale.

EPISODE 8

Ok, they got me with the hype and aura moments those fight scenes were really good and I hope we get more of that in future seasons, Alastor being chased by shock.wav ala Sonic was entertaining. Vox in his top form and his VA delivered some killer moments (his meltdown before trying to kill Charlie and friends was beautiful), music and animation also deliver.

This is where all praising stops, just on the top of my mind: Baxter betrays Voxtek for reasons that the writers don't even know but sure the towels are 45 degrees or something, nobody seems too worried over the fact the Angel has betrayed the hotel, VaggI's arc was useless as much as she was when trying to stop Vox's weapon. I will say despite having zero development both Baxter and Pentious pulling bad bitches by being nerdy as fuck is funny.

The biggest glaring issue of episode 7 is here with a revenge. This show never can execute its ideas well, I understood that the point was to win this time around using words instead of violence except for:
1. They did had to use violence.
2. Charlie is terrible at using words or being an effective leader to be a proper alternative to Vox.
Emily ended being more proactive that her while she was more than happy to hide in the hotel, she even rescued Alastor sacrificing one of her wings! I'm sure the animators will love to color that one different everytime she's on screen from now on. The way they stopped the death ray was so gay, friendship rays? really? why not instead use each of the overlords different abilities? or have sinners being inspired to help remove it too? They had the whole idea of Lucifer not being able to hurt them to play with but they did nothing with that.

Speaking of nothing Lute and Abel being there, useless just a buch of set up that's the only thing this series knows to do, Angel is gone, would have hit harder if we had seen him struggling with feeling that he could not be redeem but nah next season guyz, seriously he and Charlie now feel like side characters. Also, the Vees losing carries zero weight because they barely suffered any concecuences, you will think that the other overlords will try to limit their power but nah let them spin it one more time becuause why not?
Rest of the finale was more set up, just a narration of Charlie who's apparently not that affected that her first guest and friend Angel Dust ditched the hotel.

I still hold that this season is pretty much comparable to S1, whatever improment while yes it's there, its nowhere to been seen on the script. I did have fun tho, the show is entertaining mutilple flaws and all.

-Vox’s backstory was meh (didn't think he'd have died by having a literal TV fall on his head) and his full demon form was underwhelming but he still ended up being the best part of the season by a mile and a half. Thank you, Christian.

-The Care Bears/spirit bomb method used to destroy the weapon was cheesy as fuck.

-Lucifer was insufferable with how they managed to make him even more stupid and useless. But remember guys, Viv doesn’t see the king of hell as the devil, he’s just a silly little guy.

-Vaggie’s “name change” is retarded. I actually almost threw my hands up in exasperation.

-Pentious’ callback to “It Starts with Sorry” was nice and he continues to be one of the best characters.

-I appreciate that Abel finally grew a spine, though it raises the question of why “Gravity” was used this season if Lute wasn’t going to do anything in the end.

-Baxter and Niffty were cute together. They’re one ship I’ll happily see become canon.

-Songs were fine but overall I prefer the music from season 1.

All in all, not terrible. But I also lowered my expectations.

This actually warmed my heart :) It's funny how Viv and co most likely hate this stuff--but Christ is the embodiment of true Love. Go and sin no more--type of actual love.

Ok now back to being a professional Farmer--Viv, your show cost you any actual friendships you may or may not have had. Now you just have glazers. And they'll leave you for the next latest goon in no time. Just like 2018's She-Ra.

Occasionally, when the joke doesn't devolve into 'Swearing=Funny', the show can manage to be funny, which makes it more frustrating really.
I thought one of the funniest things in the show was Moxxie NOT swearing. Ruthless (well mostly) assassin, can kill you in 50 different ways, uses "oh crumbs" as an oath. It made it actually funny when he DID swear. Now he just swears as much as everyone else.

Vaggie final name is... Vaggi without an "e"... Cool I guess?
The point of the redundant name change is to feign a character arc for Vaggie. It's the idea of her truly letting go of her past life as a exorcist and moving forward as a fallen angel ally to hell. Except season 1 already did that so there's nowhere else to go with her character. Her wanting to change her name at the start of the season and then changing it at the very end gives the illusion of change and character growth while in reality, she never changed.

Also, since it's been stated that exterminations have been a thing for 7 years, it just makes me wonder what the exorcist angels did before that happened.

(why the fuck he filled a studio room with water?)
I think the intent is that he was doing a suicide pact with his audience. That's the big fan theory going around, anyway. Everyone standing in water, drop the TV in, but it happened to drop early and land on his head first. You can briefly see for a couple of frames where everyone's skeleton is showing through the electric shock implying he killed a bunch of people with him.

Which begs the question of course of where are they? Unless the implication is that all of them are winners, which I doubt given the series.

The way they stopped the death ray was so gay, friendship rays? really? why not instead use each of the overlords different abilities?
That was my immediate first thought too because they even played with the idea: each overlord's friendship beam or whatever the fuck was themed to them! So they clearly had that idea in mind, but then just did... that. Incredibly missed opportunity to let characters do something cool that relates to them.

Where do the killed angels go
I guess same place as killed sinners? As in, nowhere, just terminates their existence. The dead exorcist and Adam never show up again (except as a hallucination to Lute) so unless they reveal something in S3 that's the obvious answer.

Except there's the fact that Viv herself said that season 3 is what got her show picked up by A24.

I keep hearing that, but what the story is condensed into 8 episodes again? Like whatever it is that made them want this, I don’t think it will land. I think they, and everyone else, got bought in by a concept and the team will not deliver.

Thoughts on episode 7:
  • Emily is a fucking dipshit and Sera has no spine. Lute is the only person talking sense, which you don't want when the primary message of your show is "Let's all live in peace".
  • I like the songs but they're genuinely starting to get in the way of the plot because 4-6 minutes of episode are being wasted on musicals when they could be used on exposition and character development
  • The rift forming in the V's is coming out of bumfuck nowhere because they should've know from the jump that Vox's plan was to shoot a laser at Heaven but they're mad about it.
  • Alastor has so much plot armor that it's absurd. The fact that Alastor is blatantly playing Vox and no one is even considering killing him is dumb.
  • To the shock of no one, Baxter was a plot device all along. But that joke about Rooster was good
Thoughts on the finale
  • First half is great
  • The fights are always surprisingly good, so they at the very least have someone for choreography
  • Belief makes you stronger is definitely a power system they should've mentioned at any point in the last few years. Probably another random factoid from one of Viv's streams.
  • The dialogue would be improved so much if they stopped writing in random swear words. You really don't have to say "fuck" and "bitch" every other sentence.
  • That last song was the gayest shit ever
Sorry about that, wrote it while I was watching. Overall, not a bad finale I had a lot of fun. Give it an 8/10. This was obviously a filler season but it worked out much better than I expected.
