I've often said...stick to the og comics when it comes to the boys. Say what you want about ennis being the "peak 2000s edgelord," but he had the balls to tell all the capeshit to fuck off a decade before it really needed to fuck off. The show and Indeed the franchise became the very corporate money making slop it once mocked

Ennis is a hack and his comic was nothing more than retard yells at cloud. Its not about "having balls" its that the guy is a huge no talent wank, that gets sucked off because of his garbage Punisher run.

And to stay on topic, Ennis' the boys is actually "edgy" not Vivian and spindlehorse's idea of safe "ooohh look a gay kiss!" Or "look a trans va voicing a trans character " and especially last months rainbow barf merch drop, version of edgy.

It's really vomit worthy how the show is trying to sell to poons

I see your point, but disagree if only cause the comic/animation industry has even bigger hacks. Where vivzie thinks saying fuck a thousand times is funny with no ryhme or reason,, garth thinks saying nigger a thousand times over with no ryhme or reason is funny. Both suck due to their lack of finesse or tact, but I'd rather be on Garth's side, if only cause he can get a genuine laugh outta me now and again.

She only gets the circus tamer look durinh the trial, where she shocker is actually wearing the fitting outfit for that. Which is odd, because we see none of the other Sins change their clothes for the meeting EXCEPT Bee.

Actually Asmodeus and Mammon are wearing different outfits in the trial. It's just not as drastically different as Bee's was.



Though if you look at the storyboards for Mastermind, you can see that she was originally in her debut outfit do my guesd is the court clothes was in response to everyone saying that nothing about Beelzebub screamed "animal tamer" in her original design like Viv initially said.

Off topic,but seeing that we are bringing designs back in and critiquing them. The originals, and Bee appearing back on the thread, good lord they should of just kept her tamer outfit and color scheme that looks so much better and way less heavy for the poor animators. Ozzies orginal clothing looks great but his sin outfit is hideous he already is the second worst sin design but the color scheme is just his outfit is a pan flag? Cool...?  ahem
Mammon looks great like always, the court outfit is also much better! Why don't they keep their court outfits as their main ones? They are so much better for their designs, and way less stress for the overworked animators.


This has been making me think about my own designs for a bit. So I'll far just ask some questions about the character designs so far out of the redesigns which are the best? And which portray the characters better? Which ones suck?
Another thing I feel like personally my redesigns aren't to heavy with animation as an animator myself. If someone else could give their two cents who also does animation.

Just want to get some idea of what to add or push more when I continue working.

I feel like they all have strong silhouettes to make them not bleed into one another and different body types to show them off.

My favorite resigns are Charlie, Alastor, Adam, Vox, Velvette, Niffty, Moxxie, Millie, Stolas, Crimson, Asmodeus, and Leviathan.

I'm going to say what pretty much all my teachers in art school said (and probably what Viv's professors told her plenty of times): Keep It Simple Stupid.

When you're working on a project with multiple people, whether it be an animation or comic, you want to deliver what a character is with as little as possible. Because many people are going to be drawing that character multiple times. And you want to keep the character looking like the same person each and every time. That's something that Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss have been struggling with since the beginning of it's conception and has gotten worse since. There are many times when I can tell that different people have worked on a scene because the characters will be looking drastically different in each shot that they're in. (There's also the added bonus of saving energy, time, and money; something that everyone has a limit of).

It's also just easier on the viewer's eyes. The viewer has an easier time to then comprehend what they're seeing and don't suffer an overload of information at one time. Simply put as one of my professors told me; if you can take something away that won't be a disservice to the character, do it.

Also, I request Mammon to have some fat cat design to him because it screams greed.

I want a mixture of green, yellow and black. Someone wanted Mammon as a Toad or something when working on the rewrite which would be interesting but what would even a Toad correlate to his character?

Interesting for my designs so far I just make him be a hand demon to add to the greed hes just made of sinners severed hands. (Also playing with a custom where theiving hands get cut off as punishment.) I also added that he wouldn't talk in a traditional sense but with hands, and they would move like sign language. Sort of like Helping Hands in the labyrinth

Or another was a Hyena as they are known for their greed, I'll keep those suggestions in mind.

Thanks so far its a personal favorite sin of mine so far. I also thought if he touches you with his hands, you turn into gold like King Midas, and he collects his people in a Smuag like gold hoard and he actually eats his wealth gold and diamonds you name it. When I hone it a bit more I'll post him.
