The joke is that they killed Mr Rogers. And because the dude's already dead he can't say anything about being "defamed".

Nothing will ever top BD Rogers. That shit was top tier. And weirdly respectful.https://youtube.com/watch?v=tpMti8J5Dqw:4Nothing's gonna top the black dynamite mr. rogers.
I think it's just respectful, while still having fun with the funny concept of mr. rogers taking matters into his own hands (even though he'd obviously never do it like that.)weirdly respectful.
Not to derail the thread - but it's all because of one song, with the lyric "if you're born a boy you stay a boy; if you're born a girl you stay a girl". (Or something to that effect).EDIT: I just remembered a few years ago reddit/twitter people suddenly decided to make it their pet thing to hate him because "transpobia" or some shit in his one song for a little bit.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=wSgapj1NY34Fred Rogers was not "transphobic" or anything of the sort. He was teaching children in an age-appropriate manner - something trannies are particularly bad at.

That was...actually decent.
Like even the twist was genuinely funny.
Phobia implies irrational and intense fear or fear based hatred. It doesn't matter to me if you frame it as a positive because "Being [noun]phobic is good acksually!" it's still the same result of pinning some form of irrational fear based bias on a guy that never showed any signs of that.I'm gonna have to disagree with cryptidfuck, repudiating trans ideology in such a manner (by saying that boys will always be boys, girls will always be girls, period) makes one a transphobe. There's nothing wrong with being a transphobe.
Don't know why people in the thread talk about this so favorably.https://youtube.com/watch?v=-1b7uCyONb0

Reminds me of the third season of Drawn Together where the writers got distracted playing XBox at the office, and it just became the Captain Hero Likes to Fuck Corpses show. They think they are writing dark humor but all they do is be mean spirited.
Dark humor is making jokes about something tragic. They think they are writing dark humor but all they do is be mean spirited.
An then would later complain how their show tanked because of South Park and how they would gladly stab the creators in the streets.Reminds me of the third season of Drawn Together where the writers got distracted playing XBox at the office, and it just became the Captain Hero Likes to Fuck Corpses show.
Eh, I don't see anyone particularly loving this joke. If HB was a properly produced show, this short would probably be a throwaway b-plot in an episode about Moxie and Millie hanging out with neo-nazi jihadist bikers.Don't know why people in the thread talk about this so favorably.
While the twist ending was predictable the fact that there was an actual sweet conversation and Loona even getting some character development just to go fuck you and die good hearted straight man!

I found that weird too, almost like a payoff without the proper setup, maybe they didn't want Loona to be the one that finished off not-Mr. Rogers so they could had Blitzo do that? Because outside of that his participation in this mission felt very pointless. And I would have liked some explanation as to why Loona's clip only had two bullets. Maybe she says in distress, "Dammit, Moxxie!" to expand on their office rivalry as well as the latter's role as the firearms guy.
I didn't particularly like the short. I thought it was really boring. I really only laughed at the guy's initial reaction to Loona. It's nice to see a human character reacting to how most people would when seeing one of these things in real life instead of just being dumb and/or corny. The joke does get ruined because they decide to linger on the whole death sequence way too long (which is just a problem with Helluva Boss's writing in general. Something could be initially funny but because they drag it out it ruins the comedic effect). Also I just didn't really feel anything for Loona's "character development" because I know it's not going to translate to the actual show itself, so why should I care if Loona had a nice conversation with some rando? It's not going to matter in the long scheme of things.Don't know why people in the thread talk about this so favorably.

People really forget how dark this show used to be. Rewatch the pilot or any of the episodes of Season 1 when Brandon was the lead writer. There's an entire episode where IMP is encouraging an old man to commit suicide. This short wouldn't have been so out of place back in season 1. It's just really out of place now because the show has changed to be a melodrama musical where you're supposed to be on the side of the protagonists.Eh, I don't see anyone particularly loving this joke. If HB was a properly produced show, this short would probably be a throwaway b-plot in an episode about Moxie and Millie hanging out with neo-nazi jihadist bikers.
Writing this I realized, episode 1 S1 did almost the exact same gag with the murder family. Immaculate individual(s) turns out to not be what they seem. The only other payoff you could do is that turns out the guy is just that perfect. That might have actually been a better payoff, I reckon in this case.
Speaking of early HB, the Pilot which everyone likes features them murdering and dismembering a child. It's weird how this edgy comedy turned into an outwardly serious melodrama. It's the complete opposite of what it was pitched on!
