I don't necessarily mind the concept behind Series Alastor, but when you boil it down to it, he's basically Striker 2.0. Someone who is introduced as this imposing figure; smugly taking pride about being above others he look down on,
1740976686604.jpeg

1740976767442.jpeg

only to constantly be made a fool of himself/isn't taken seriously in each passing episode.

Also, a bit contradictory.

Pilot Alastor was written to be a mystery entity without a clear agenda behind someone who embodies his time period as his character. Before Season 1 came out , people were jossing theories like "Alastor is trying to usurp the throne" or "Alastor's trying to get into Heaven" because it was said in the past Alastor isn't motivated by power. Now all Alastor talks about is how he's the most feared demon across Hell and is flabbergasted when realizing he's not.

They say voice actors aren't their characters, but to me, while not always true, are a reflection of their characters. Edward Bosco didn't really seemed to have Alastor be associated with the Tumblr Sexyman persona. Amir Talai has Alastor unironically see himself as one.

When people say Ed carried the character, it shows. This review of Hazbin (https://ponett.medium.com/my-own-personal-hell-thoughts-on-hazbin-hotel-1b226af317f5) perfectly sums up the issue with Alastor 's character: He doesn't do shit, yet so many things happen because of him. And as this Tumblr user pointed out here (https://www.tumblr.com/showtoonzfan...ear-to-god-the-only-scene-in-hazbin-where-two) the beginning of Hello Rosie was the first time since the pilot when Charlie and Alastor had a full conversation with each other. Sure, there are other reasons, but I feel like Charlastor was so popular was because of Charlie and Alastor's promised dynamic. Even if it's not an official song, Charlie and Alastor's singing VAs from the pilot doing a collab demonstrated said dynamic.

Now that Vaggie is a singer too, Charlie is going to spend all her time singing with her, while Alastor's off doing is own thing, like he's always been.

Pilot Alastor is a very challenging to write for, and while this applies to like... every character, Viv pretty much wrote his character based off fan hype, rather than the basis and principles that was set up for him. At least we're going to get banging songs from it, I guess.

So here's a question for you Kiwis: if the exterminations never happened because Sera actually used her brain and realized that there is no way for Hell to uprise against Heaven, would Charlie still try to redeem Sinners? Whether it be because she wants them to get to Heaven, or at least make Hell a more tolerable place to live?

Redeem sinners to get into heaven? No. Not a chance. Her desire there is borne from having to watch them all get slaughtered, and then being the one to give the all call.

Maybe to make hell more tolerable, but then we need to ask does she have any actual issue with how hell is ran? And that’s not a hypothetical. Has that ever been brought up by her, cause she does seem okay with just the lawless nature of it all.

A fanfic with them in HH Hell would be really short, mostly because Gus's enemies will be there too and likely already established themselves, and Walter will step on the wrong feet and either get killed or enslaved.
Do you think Gus would try to re-enter the fried chicken business with a new Hell-based chain?
Bonus points if his chain became more popular with the Hell population than his drugs. You can get drugs around every corner, but a good chicken is worth murdering for.

You think Alastor would stop cannibalism if he got his first taste of fried chicken?
Now I'm picturing Alastor in a business partnership with demon Captain Spaulding if his fried chicken was actually the victims killed by the Firefly family. I don't think it was ever implied that was the case, but since House of 1000 Corpses was inspired by the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre it may have been true.

Charlie

The original design wasn't bad. I liked the rounded edges and the peppy look she had, and the pink being a unique pink with yellow made her stand out and gave me a child like attitude. The only thing that really didn't connect with me is that she doesn't look like a demon/goat or doll (besides her cheeks), and the outfit didn't really give me princess vibes it honestly gave me Hillary Clinton vibes; like she was going to run for president and try to over throw Satan.
The redesign for the show highlights the worse parts of the Vivzie's designs.

So much red
Losing her innocent look
Giving her the male (Suit/ Tuxedo) body
Having her swear so much
What is going on with the undershirt she's wearing, because of her skin it makes it look like she has her ass out and she's just wearing high leg sweaters, or she's sagging her pants.
She looks less trust worthy, looks like she's gonna try to trick me like her father.
Still doesn't look like a doll or a goat but now gives me mime/clown vibes.
Nothing that screams that she's tied to Lucifer, she looks like a standard demon, nothing special.

New

Gave her horns, hooves, slanted pupils, and a doll attributes.
Hair change to pigtails, but the pigtails are actually her big floppy goat ears.
Changed her outfit to be more unique, she now has a lolita princess look; this adds to her being a doll.
Her bow is a on the back is a fake its actually both of her tails she wraps together as they are very long.
Her outfit uses the color palette from her old and show design.
She has upside-down crosses and apples to highlight her relationship with her father.

Story wise

No deal with hellborns being spared. It only applies to Lucifer and Lilith house.

She's created by both Lucifer and Lilith as they cannot have children. Giving her a Pinocchio like origin. And hidden in secret.

She would almost be like Claudia from "Interview with a Vampire" she cannot age, but her brain does she's thousands of years old. As they only designed her to be their little doll, and she hates this part of her design. She's not too close to her father because of how he made her, and Lucifer unintentionally keeps her a prisoner in her own body.

Is incredibly sheltered by both parents and because she doesn't "grow" she's forced to be treated like a child. She is forced to stay inside, no one knows she exists.

She does not have a soul and cannot feel pain or fear and she's drawn to sinners as they all are souls that experience this feelings. She asks her dad about souls and such. Lucifer tells her all the joys and sorrows of souls as he use to have one himself, God as punishment took his soul away leaving him a husk.

Still naive.

She's fascinated by them, especially since she's lived in their castle all her life. When she finally sees the extermination she understands that they are experiencing pain and suffering. And because of her sheltered lifestyle and Lucifer lying to his daughter her entire life she thinks that this is undeserved.

One extermination she sneaks out of the house to try and save demons from extermination, and even heals some that are injured trying to protect them.

Vaggie during extermination slaughtering demons. Raises her spear ready to kill Charlie who is not afraid of death (because she doesn't have a soul) back turned not paying attention to her about to be murdered is instead treating all of these demons and healing their wounds. Vaggie is stunned by this act of humanity as she has been told demons are heartless and are only beings of true evil. She backs down and instead flies away back to heaven.

Vaggie begins to question Lute and Adam asking why there is a child in hell. All of Heaven is unaware of this and they realize that Charlie is the Antichrist and because of Vaggies hesitation she could of caused the end of days to become a reality. As punishment they cast her out of Heaven taking her uniform, ripping her wings, and tearing her eye. Which they use to go back and see what she saw using it as a camera playing back footage.

Heaven is now on the look out for Charlie.

Vaggie when casted down bleeding out and hurt, Charlie thinking she's a demon helps her and takes care of her. Hiding her in Lucifers house she takes care of her without her parents knowing.

Vaggie feeling this unfamiliar sense of care and compassion from her cold military lifestyle is grateful to Charlie.

No VaggieXCharlie as that was awful. But instead Vaggie begins to become CHARLIE'S guardian angel. And Charlie becoming close to Vaggie (who she still thinks is a demon) and this is ths closest friend shes ever had, and with them growing close she wants to understand her people thinking that there is some form of good in all of them as Vaggie is a good person. Without Lucifers knowledge she takes one of his dilapidated buildings and repurposes it into the Hazbin Hotel.

Vaggie because of her upbringing still fears the Lucifer household and continues to keep this a secret. As this could risk her life if all these demons knew she was an exterminator, and also subtlety becomes a patreon of the hotel herself.

She picks up AngelDust in the Limo, and he is taken back as she is a child demon. Which has been told is impossible, she doesn't understand entirely what he does. And Angel lies to her and says he's a famous "Actor".

When she opens it up to the public, they dont respect her because of her looks, and they dont believe that she is Lucifers daughter.

Fo far this one was the most interesting one for me, and I did alot more of a rewrite of her character. I really love how she turned out, and how her character develops.
As always.

I just realized a missed opportunity with Pentious, despite the reason him being in Hell being letting a prostitute get murdered and not saying or doing anything to stop it or bring the Ripper to justice, he doesn't have any scene where he makes a real connection with Angel Dust. They have a single one on one conversation and that's when Angel catches Pent placing Vox's camera and they briefly fight.

What if Pentious was still around and not in a sex room when Angel confronted Valentino at the club, and he uncharacteristically stands up for Angel, even if he gets brushed aside fairly quickly, then you have the reveal in Season 2 which adds to that scene with the new knowledge it brings. Charlie and Heaven are literally debating about how Sinners can change or not at that very moment watching them and it's even in the same room where Pentious later reveals his backstory. It further convinces me Viv had no backstory in mind for Pentious when writing S1.

Interesting take of Charlie's character, specially the part of her being more artificial than actual flesh and bones way more complex that the quirky disney princess of the show. It does raise an interesting question for canon Charlie: how did Lucifer and Lilith could have her if sinners are not allow to reproduce? And for the way the show presents it, she was obviously born after the fall so what's up with that?

Now I wish I have saved it, but around the time Abel's design was revealed I saw a fan theorizing about the similarities between him and Charlie but it was way too stupid for me to believe at that moment. It essentially consisted of Charlie and Abel being half-brothers, using things like the similar hair color and the comments Lucifer made towards Adam in their fight to deduce that Eve cheated on him and had Charlie, somewhat explaining why she's good despite being a hellborn and her being at least half human despite that by that point Lilith would be a full-on demon already for her to have an human soul.

It sounds retarded I know, but its the kind of retarded that fits the show.

The only demon Gus would enjoy being around is Alastor. Pilot Alastor specifically. A sophisticated monster who gets down to business to let people know who he is.

At this point Joffrey Baratheon would skank Pilot Alastor. "Make the bad man sing".
And Draco Malfoy would tell Series Alastor to just "STFU already".

Since I mentioned the rightful heir to the throne, Joffrey I Baratheon, I'll let him say it as he did during Tyrion IX (Chapter 41), from A Clash of Kings:
"Traitors," Joffrey was babbling excitedly, "I'll have all their heads, I'll—"

Charlie
Interesting! Very interesting and artificial.

Interesting take on Charlie. Glad that you decided that hellborns also can be exterminated too, since I always wondered how the angels could tell the difference between a Sinner and a Hellborn to prevent them from accidentally killing a hellborn.

Going to go on a slight tangent on another reason why Pilot Charlie is so much different than Show Charlie; their reactions to Sinners and Hell itself. Pilot Charlie definitely feels like someone who grew up in Hell all her life. Everything that happens down there is normal to her, so she doesn't react uncomfortably to how the people in Hell act. She just knows that it must be bad, since that's why they're down there in the first place. But she's not disturbed by them or are judging their actions.

Show Charlie on the other hand is very much disturbed by how Sinners behave. We can see that constantly in the show whenever; when she's is uncomfortable by something she puts on an obviously forced smile and tries to be polite about it. It feels like she's almost a visitor to Hell, and that this isn't the place she has grown up in for 200 years. She knows what the Sinners are doing down in Hell are wrong, and is judging them for it.

1701060444786398.png

Here's a good comparison to what I'm talking about with both Charlie's have very different reactions to a similar scene playing out in from of them. To put it plainly; pilot Charlie is a genuinely naive and nice person, while show Charlie only pretends to be.

Same. It doesn't help that they all look the fucking same. They never explore or talk about it. Just yaoi shit.

Honestly the most charitable I can be with the whole Pentious redeem himself thing could maybe be his attempt to stop Adam could be seen as him atoning for not stepping in to help the Ripper because while it was in vain, he could've easily just left and probably been fine, that is at least the most I can interpret if that backstory had been planned

Though honestly if that is the case, your idea feels better since it is a smaller scale incident which honestly means more and this is a problem writers can fall into which is not understanding that "Less is more" since it can apply to anything.

For villain writing, killing one person can have more of an impact than killing thousands if a familiar face is involved (which is why people hate Valentino since he is abusing a character the audience is attached too as opposed to Mammon who while he abuses Fizz, the audience barely knows them.)

The same with heroics because helping out with small deeds is more impactful since you don't have anything to gain from them and like with that villain example, can feel more meaningful, but it could be fine if there are consequences of such actions that can affect the character (Pentious sacrificing himself does have consequences to the worldbuilding in question as opposed to Stolas sacrificing himself for Blitzo since well...he gets to spend as much time as possible with his boytoy and will just get everything he lost back anyway.)

Basically less is more when it comes to character actions and I feel a show like Hazbin would maybe benefit from those moments like it sort of gets it with Angel Dust being a good person conveniently while the magic orb spies on them (though the development process to get there would've been better) rather than trying to make big dramatic sacrifices being what redeems people as not everyone would be capable of that. Sacrifcies must also have consequences whether it meaningfully progresses the plot or at least will not put the one who sacrificed themselves in the same spot as they were before.

Alastor

His design. Is straight ass. Nothing too good to say that is likeable. Good job Viv him wearing a suit works for the time period, cool stick thing I suppose. Deer..? He looks like a fox or a edgy jackelope. Also holy shit he's fucking mixed WHAT? As a mulatto myself that niggas not mixed he's fucking ashy, and that hair is he a white woman and that haircut would not be in that timeperiod.

New

Made him look like a deer. And added in tons of body horror which I am quite fond of. He is skinned on his neck with hooks in his feet, his face is warped, and his human face is outstretched to resemble with deer ears and crooked deer human.
Kept attributes of his human form.
Changed his color scheme to represent the old timey photos color scheme of brown monochromatic.
His neck is long and outstretched, huge horns.
Green eyes for when deer are seen in night vision.
Gave him a hairstyle for the timeperiod he belongs in.
Made him lankier and more gauntlet.
Wendigo refrences, and when he takes his suit off his entire chest is skinless and exposed.
Gave him a little tail.

Story wise

Still an overlord cannibal.

When Charlie announces the hotel to the public. He catches it, and is perpexed seeing that shes a child. He gets the idea she would be easier to manipulate and gain more power from consuming her/stealing her soul.

He does strike a deal with Charlie to help fund her project and help her in exchange for her soul. Charlie tells him she doesn't have one, and Alastor assumes she's lying (she is the devil's daughter afterall) she then proposes a pinky promise, if the hotel doesn't redeem a single soul within 7 years he can have her power, and if it does work he will spend the rest of his afterlife helping Charlie redeem every soul in hell.

Vaggie thinks this is a horrible idea, but Charlie being so naive and innocent thinks he is a man of his word. She is completely confident that she can get one soul to be redeemed.

He gladly takes this deal, and plans to jeopardize the hotel. Now he's playing the waiting game. Bringing his most disastrous servants (Husk and Nifty) he thinks they would be great, as they would worsens the healing process (Nifty encourages murder/ and temptation, Husk gambling/addiction) he tells them both that they have to keep patreons sinning.

And promises that if they succeed he would set them free. He is of course lying.

Alastor does his best to be a wrench in the machine, all while pretending to be sweet and gentle to the young princess. Thinking that if he feeds her delusions she won't know that he's messing with her.

He protects her from the exterminations, as if she dies he'll lose his ultimate meal ticket. This reinforces Charlie thinking he's a good person as he's "protecting" her and the hotel patreons (he's only doing it to keep up the guise that he believes in her idea)

Hopes that if he gets her power he'll be able to take on Lucifer, free of his shackles that keep him in hell, and be able to get to heaven. Once he consumes every soul he would be all powerful. And wants to become God himself.

As always

His mic staff reminds me of that one thing featured with Pilot Alastor but not Series Alastor: the mic is sentient itself. I think one fan theory had the mic be another soul he owns or it was mentioned on a Vivzie stream. Perhaps your Alastor could use it manipulate others.

I genuinely like Charlastor and I'm not just saying that because Viv getting so damn mad about it is funny.
If she didn't want us to ship them she wouldn't have given them more chemistry than the actual couple and given Charlie extreme daddy issues that she can fix by taking a ride on the deer /shot
