Hasan never fought for the Dems. If anything, he fought against them. Why should they fight for him? He is a less ugly Quinton or Andrew Dobson. I suppose you could include Ian in this too. Someone who alienated both sides and now no one comes to his defense.
As for the subpoena, his own rhetoric will haunt him. He has campaigned against both sides and that makes finding someone impartial is impossible. Also, his tendency to make anti-America statements and take equally anti-America actions will make it hard for him to claim he isn't a traitor. His "my statements have been taken out of context" defense might persuade his fans but it will not work on a panel. He might as well as start singing "Wasn't me" for all the good it will do. Still, I doubt he will get a large prison sentence unless he has some really bad shit such as trading money with adversaries and/or terrorists. Otherwise, I can see him either getting a couple of years or even a parole.
That being said, I imagine his father will tell him to get off the internet after all this. I can only imagine his blood ran cold at this announcement.
