He was reported to have ordered further massacres before he abandoned Chengdu in advance of the Qing armies. The massacres, a subsequent famine and epidemic, attacks by tigers, as well as people fleeing from the turmoil and the Qing armies, resulted in a large-scale depopulation of Sichuan. The worst affected areas are believed to be Chengdu and its surrounding counties (mainly in Chengdu Plain), and places on the path of Zhang's retreat from Chengdu to Shaanxi.

A popular account of his life has it that he erected in Chengdu a stele, which came to be known as the Seven Kill Stele (七殺碑), with the following inscription:
天生萬物以養人 Heaven brings forth innumerable things to nurture man.
人無一善以報天 Man has nothing good with which to recompense Heaven.

I mean even in africa and other countries with high percentages of africans like botswana or guyana society isnt this chaotic. There has to be something else making haiti this bad.

Its literally idiocracy. Anyone with any sense got the fuck out of Haiti long ago. Those that remained were too stupid to figure out how to get away. They reproduced. Occasionally produced a smart offspring, who had the good sense to GTFO of Haiti. Rince and repeat for 200 years, and you get a country with an average IQ of 67.

For context, any IQ under 70 is considered a functional retard. The AVERAGE Haitian is a functional retard.

Neoliberals turn a blind eye to the connection between immigration to the west and retardation in the third world. The nation was literally founded on a massive chimpout that killed or forced out anyone with brains, with repeated chimpouts every 20 years or so to keep it solely inhabited by violent mud cookie eaters. It's also close to a whole bunch of much more functional nations to flee to, to the point where the Dominican Republic next door has genocided Haitian immigrants once and is filled with mulattos who speak about blacks in ways that would make a /pol/ poster blush. Rwanda has essentially eaten all of the animals, cut down all of the trees. You can't herd animals on the grass because someone will just steal your animals. I assume farming has the same issue. Anyone with any resources that you can kill to take their stuff gets killed. If you pump money into Haiti either through food aid or by having a T-shirt factory or cruise line port, their population will expand to the level of subsistence living off of rice and/or mud cookies. There is no family planning when ALL of the women get violently raped (not US college feminist I slept with a guy, he didn't call me back, now I feel bad and regret it rape). It is the norm.

Nearly all of their elected government is corrupt and use their positions to grift money. Anyone of any wealth on the island finances gangs so that they have a paid army of henchmen to protect themselves and fight off other gangs. The police and government are insufficient to provide protection. And that is all well and good until your gang turns on you.

Towns in Haiti have been facing more attacks from gangs who still are in control of 80% of the nation's capital, Port-au-Prince. This attack was perpetrated by a group known as the Taliban. The Gran Grif gang killed over 100 people in the central part of the country just a week ago. The violence isn't going anywhere anytime soon it seems.

The systems of Haiti are pretty on par with other African countries, in that they are dysfunctional and shambolic. It's the circumstance of Haiti that so vividly shines through how shit things are. Other African countries can use their resources, their size or their numbers to cover up their ugly invalidity, like a whore with make up. But in the end they're all the same. The same ethnic conflicts. The same farcical government and self serving regimes. The same backwardness. It's just that Haiti doesn't have the luxury to doll itself up. Haiti may seem worse but actually it's pretty normal. It just can't hide it like the others do.

This peeves me to no end, with both Haiti and negro Africa in general. What happens when you feed a starving negro? You get two starving negros. It's a big joke played at the expense of European, American and soon Chinese society. If there's one word to describe development in negro countries, it is "futility".

I've always found the normalization of mob justice movements like Bwa Kale in Haiti to be fascinating and somewhat surreal. What started as a vigilante response to crime has now gained widespread acceptance, even being promoted openly by religious leaders on national television and celebrities on social media. Watching the church endorse something that, in other contexts, would seem extreme almost feels like a scene from a dark satire or a dystopian film.
