Gunther made the news! Austria's most prestigious paper, in fact.
Translation:
Today Der Standard asks why we aren't in NATO. Because our politicians are cowardly, immoral, and not accountable. They've been destroyed by Anti-European powers.
How does Der Standard's coverage compare to Russia's 1TV? Well, they don't big him up quite so much.
This is the only mention of our guy. The article presents for and against views on joining NATO. It refers to four separate initiatives for referendums which would affirm or strengthen Austria's neutrality. On the other side, there is one anti-neutrality initiative: "The Linzer business consultant Gunther Fehlinger is currently on a nationwide tour gathering signatures for his initiative in favor of NATO."
*You can debate whether this was actually a good or effective thing. It's debatable, but it is one way to see it.
Edit: Looking at the comments, they're shockingly balanced. Like, a post that just says 'we must join NATO' has 11 dislikes and 10 likes. This ratio is pretty common. About an equal number of posts are for as against. The arguments here (and in the article) are exactly what you'd expect. If you're not familiar with this national dialogue, pro-neutrality people say 'we're surrounded by NATO and landlocked. It just isn't needed' and 'we're already in the EU which has clauses saying members need to be supported in wartime' and 'NATO membership isn't even a guarantee'. They're pretty honest, acknowledging that Austria is a 'free rider' or 'fare dodger' and that, if they're not catching shit for it, it's not in their self interest to start paying dues. The anti-neutrality side, well, I'll let Gunther handle that argument.

Which is funny given that Gunther is a good-natured centrist. Not left at all. He is 100% "conservative" in that he wants to restore the world order and socio-political model of the 1990s. A time when markets ruled, protectionism was unthinkable, NATO was doing effective interventionism*, and Europe was on the road toward integration without a stumbling block in sight.
