Considering how bloated and putrid the corpse is, think of the new Online DLC as weak air freshener to cover up the smell. I think you know just how well that's gonna work out.
I wanted an offline story expansion like the ones in IV, not something exclusive to Online. This is not an air freshener and more of a direct fart in the face.

Guess we're finally getting that Story DLC.

Hooray, more content single player fans will never have access to, really love all the neglect Rockstar has given us.

Sad thing is, there're people on Reddit that justify GTA V & RDR2 never getting any attention for their campaigns as the games "already being complete". Never mind that there've been plenty of "complete" games that received all sorts of DLC (Fallout, Elder Scrolls, recent Assassin's Creed games, etc), how much of a blind fanboy do you have to be to argue against something that would only make the games better?

Let's be real, the only reason they brought Franklin back was to try and cover their asses for the trilogy and salvage what little consumer trust they had, the tried and tested "See guys we brought back this character who hasn't had new stuff in a while, that makes up for it right!?"

Fuck you R*.

I repeat: I would be more excited for these DLC threads if they had story DLC associated with them as well.

Now here's a question i want to ask, why would you want them to make a story-oriented DLC when the writing wasn't too hot in the base game, especially with the current day writers at the helm with their non-medy

I'm having a vision

- Lamar calls you up saying his homeboy is looking for a partner in his business and all you gotta do is buy [[[property]]] to get in. (Hence the idiotic name of F. Clinton & Partner)

- Franklin is there for an intro cutscene touring [[[property]]], explains they need to do some ghetto iphone heist to impress Dr. Dre to sign, introduces you to whoever the fuck that other character is in the trailer (D List celeb? lame original character?) who will be the one you talk to on the phone 75% of the time and to basically say "you do all the work while I sit behind a desk and say 3 lines when you walk by"

- Lamar will be comic relief clown in cutscenes. At some point "niiiigaaaa" meme will be shoehorned back in.

- Next December we will have a "movie heist" that features Michael. Will potentially be teased somewhere in this, complete with Michael showing up/being heard on a phone to mention the movie business.

I wanted it 8 years ago. I stopped wanting it about 4 years ago.

The most important question about the DLC is... WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR NEW ALBUM DR DRE? THAT LAZY NIGGER PROMISED US NEW MUSIC THAT WOULD BE FEATURED IN THE LATEST UPDATE AND LIKE ALWAYS NEVER HAPPENS. IF YOU WOULD SPEND LESS TIME SHILLING OUT YOUR HEADPHONES THAT PROBABLY GAVE YOU THAT BRAIN ANEURYSM THAT NEARLY KILLED YOU AND JUST RELEASE SOME NEW MUSIC, THEN MAYBE THE WHOLE RAP COMMUNITY WOULDN'T BE BITCHING ABOUT YOUR PROCRASTINATING PERFECTIONISM. DETOX MY ASS, THAT SHIT MIGHT AS WELL BE THE SECOND COMING AT THIS POINT.

Sorry about that had a vent now what were we on again???

Because they promised story expansions in 2013/2014 and broke it for GTA Online.

All the recent DLC for GTA Online has literally been single player DLC reworked for Online.

I'm pretty sure this Franklin rag to riches story was DLC at one point.

Do you believe R* could produce all this content (including hiring Dre & Snoop to make Grandad Rap) in a month's time? Or that people at the studio knew long ago that the Definitive Editions would be a total mess?

I think this has been developed for at least a year. I don't care for it because it's utterly toothless content. We're not going to hook up with Dr. Dre and murder Suge Knight to avenge the death of Eazy E, they'll appear in a couple silly cameos and then Franklin will have the player protagonist shoot Ballas.

It's expensive filler. It's not going to push the storytelling or game engine in new directions like the Episodes of Liberty City did.

I'm not saying they did this content in a month, far from it, but they at least should have known how the Definitive Edition was doing even if it was outsourced, I don't think Grove Street Games would have kept them in the dark about how the game was coming along for the entire time it was being developed. R* should have seen the dismal reception that the San Andreas remaster got back when GSG were called War Drum Studios and used that to either outsource the project to someone more competent or do it themselves, but they chose neither.

It's one of two scenarios: One, they completely ignored all the feedback the San Andreas remaster got and outsourced it to GSG anyway thinking they did a good job, or two, they saw the feedback, knew the game was bad, but chose to outsource to them anyway thinking that the fans would just eat it up, neither scenario is exactly good for them at all.

They likely had this content in the pipeline for a while but chose to release it at a time when they were taking the most heat they've had in ages to maybe simmer down the more "consoomer" part of their fanbase.

Every enemy in GTA Online are just reskinned cops with their pinpoint accuracy, road hugging cars and bullet sponge bodies.
Thanks. You just saved my internet from having to download GTAV's 100 GB install.

I've only played an hour of GTA Online after it got put on PC. It felt more like Saints Row than GTA.

I'm no r* fanboy. Frankly, T2 has all but destroyed my trust in either company going forward, but I will say that the above is not how any of this works. Their response to the Definitive edition debacle was to postpone the RDO winter update and likely moved those devs over to fix the DE. No way they're going to postpone an update for their cash cow.

Yeah, they always have a December update. Even if it was re-using almost all the assets from the allegedly cancelled cops and crooks DLC, it still would have been in the planning stages for over a year and being actively developed for at least the past 3 to 6 months.

Using Franklin is honestly more of a sign that they are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to ideas than they are trying to regain good will from DE.
