At the beginning when you first meet Odin he says to Kratos "I'll settle your debt with my ex"
Maybe it's nitpicking, but the term "ex" used in this way seems way out of place for this setting.
Odin has a ton of dialogue like that. The whole interaction between him, Heimdall, and Atreus outside his longhouse is emblematic of how much of a failure the dialogue is.
"Is that true Loki? You a little trickster?" is the worst line of dialogue that should only be in the worst of marvel slop movies. And he's got plenty more lines littered throughout the story that are exactly like that.
I wished we'd gotten an old wise man, who has learned so many secrets and magic within the universe that he cannot ever be snuck up on or truly bested in magical combat. I understand that the idea was to replace his all-knowing nature with paranoia, and thus setting up a way to kill him. But making him stupid was foolish.
Speaking of Sindri has to be the worst fucking character in these 2 Norse games, especially in Ragnarok. The entire beginning with him and Atreus had me thinking "Is Sindri fucking molesting/grooming this kid?" He just comes off creepy. And his heelturn is especially stupid. I don't know if they're attempting to make him into an enemy in the future, but him being a big bad in the next game is as laughable as the idea of Jar Jar Binks being the real big bad sith lord after all.
I would rather move on from the Norse Pantheon. There's many aspects and mythology I like, but Ragnarok butchered them heavily, especially Vanaheim and Asgard, which is so laughable how these places have any presence in the 9 realms.
Asgard isn't a city exactly in the mythology, but it is an enormous fortress that the wall of Hrimthur was only a section. However, that stupid subversion they did revealed it to be a settlement which seemingly could only host about 400 people. I like the longhouses to an extent, but it should not ONLY be longhouses. And it should have a vast number of warriors throughout it's vast halls. It should be like mount olympus, but a giant fortress with numerous caves to raise and house warriors. It should be a deathtrap for any force looking to breech it. The top and layers within the wall should have the longhouses, which are connected to the farmlands. I actually LIKE the MCU's Asgard better than this one, since the MCU's Asgard at least gave it the veneer of godly power, martial prowess, and ancient wisdom. Nowhere to even explore anymore since they blew it up and only intended to interact with Odin and Thor. Gotta love also that Asgard's destruction had no consequence for the Aesir, and they are just fine and dandy with Freya, who helped destroy Asgard, ruling over them. Supposedly they were a conquering race of gods, but you would never know because Thor, Magni, Modi, Heimdall, and Baldur were the only forces they ever through at the rest of the realms, apparently. Asgard is such a letdown too. And why are there no warriors in Asgard besides Einerjar who are revived from the dead? This is a race of warriors, by default. That is the Aesir's primary purpose.
Vanaheim should be more like a vast, fertile plains with enormous farms, and just a jungle, since although Vanaheim has never been described in the mythology, it is home to a race of gods who are widely connected with fertility, agriculture, peace, and to some degree magic. The vanir should resemble the historic Skrælings that the vikings encountered in their expeditions to vinland, but with real magic connected to nature and the skintones of Freya, perhaps decorated with warpaint and the tatooes we see Baldur covered in. You could even have them living in multiple locations, in small huts to vast tree houses that they could use to ambush the Aesir. Instead the realm is almost entirely depopulated, save for like 6 people, 2 of which aren't even Vanir.
Unfortunately, they may not be moving onto Egypt, but may stay in the Norse Pantheon and instead have Atreus travel back in time. That idea sounds like a trainwreck, given what happened in Ragnarok
