Ryan Hurst is a decent actor to play the type but too fucking old, and the kid looks like he's about to have his fourth birthday. Couldn't they have at least gotten a middle schooler?

Call me cynical, but i believe there's plenty of people who are either too lazy or too stupid (or both) to play the games, even if they're glorified movies as they are. "I have to press buttons for things to happen!? that's for nerds!/too hard!" kind of people, they're going to be the target audience so don't even expect a decent adaptation.

You would expect that just putting "God of War 2018 all cutscenes" on Youtube would do the job, but lets make a series that will be worse in every aspect.
I would say that animation would be the ideal way to deliver stuff with too many magic creatures on it (after all, the series will need a ton of CGI), but in the case of the Norse games, you already got the movie built into the game.

Tangent, but I find it weird that Ragnarok took the time to make a mini quest in homage to the two gay devs, but nothing for Kratos' motion capture actor, Shad Gaspard, who died in 2020 saving his son from drowning. Especially since a big scene in Ragnarok is pretty much the same situation, with Kratos and Atreus almost drowning. Not even a "In the memory of." for a guy that was a real life hero in his last moments.
 
New details on Cory Barlog's next game: Former senior writer confirms that Santa Monica Studio is developing a new franchise within the God Of War universe. It reinforces what Jason Schreier reported in that article about the closure of Bluepoint, that Sony was trying to transform the God Of War IP into its own MCU. This is likely the new game being directed by Cory Barlog (who directed God Of War 2 and God Of War 201 8.

Some rumors about the project so far:

- Atreus will not be the main character
- It will feel like a new IP (according to Jason Schreier)
- Planned to be revealed in 2026
- Release planned for 2027 (if no internal delay happens)

Why does all Western live-action look so shitty now? It isn't just the outfits, casting, make-up etc., it just looks so amateurish. This looks like something I would expect a Youtuber's fan film made with his 1000 buck a month patreon budget, not a major production from one of the biggest corporations on planet earth. I don't know enough about film making to really put into words why it looks so bad, but if I was to try, I would say it's something about the film composition, maybe the lighting?

I figured this was coming. God of Bore: Crackrock already made Kratos a eunuch, to the point that he bitched out and let a woman beat the big bad for him while she shouted "Bow to your KWEEN!". There was a zero percent chance they would have a male, let alone a White male, be the main character after all but announcing that they hated Kratos. On the plus side, this will absolutely finally kill this "franchise", thank God, and I look forward to it dying finally.

How many franchises have tried to replace the cool White male main character with a woman or a brown man, and failed? You think they would realize this is dead on announcement abortion is a waste before it even comes out, but I suppose true ideological faithful can not and will not admit that they are wrong. I had no idea how bad things would get after Avatar: The Legend of Korra popularized the idea of replacing the likable male main character with an insufferable gurl boss. 12 years later and there's no signs of it stopping.

So it's either a pointless prequel since all the characters involved are dead and the only thing of note will be discovering that Atreus is Thor's child and Kratos literally raises his "wife's child" or it's a sequel where it's revealed she didn't die but either abandoned her family, or did everything so Kratos and Atreus will succeed.

Either way it's ass for a character no one cares about.
