I meant more about what the hell happened between the games after Kratos genocided Greece. There are too many memberberries talking about previous games, the first one had better ones of Kratos trying to tell Atreus aesops really badly.

Funny thing I thought about, you can say this game is pro accelerationism with the message being that you should team up with everyone irregardless of their morals to overthrow the blatantly Jewish overlord, and everyone vying for peace is a traitor.
 
Well I don’t understand the hate this thread is pushing for this game. Personally I’m really enjoying the deep, thought provoking characterization with nuanced themes that are clearly way too intelligent for the call of dude bro gamers of this generation. I also love the innovation in making games a more cinematic experience and letting more intelligent gamers, such as myself, and more person of crippled origin gamers enjoy the story by allowing a story difficulty that man babies will probably judge me for playing because, while there is room for improvement in terms of overall cinematic design (seriously Sony get it together, can we finally get skippable combat?) I think Sony is making great steps in ensuring differently abled gamers are able to enjoy the deep and nuanced story without putting too much effort in playing the game.

The only thing this game surprisingly lacks, and come on Sony, like, every game has to have this nowadays, is queer representation. I was disappointed that there were no gay or lesbian or trans characters in this title which I think would’ve been a great improvement to the diverse and inclusive cast this game sports.

With all that said, this game is my GOTY for 2022 beating Elden Ring by a country mile.

From what I've seen the depiction of Odin is disappointing at best, subversive at worst.
Modern media has a infatuation with depicting its villains as pathetic and more of a joke than an actual threat.
God of War's Odin spends most of the game cowering, bitching, acting more like a scheming huckster than the aesir all father, he's an anticlimatic antagonist.
They made Balder pathetic as well in God of War 2018, but at least it could be excused as he wasn't the lord of the gods, and was a bit of a spoiled brat. But now it just seems someone in the writing staff loves a specific kind of villain and will shove it into everything they write.
Odin doesn't need to be a warrior, he doesn't need to be Zeus 2.0, but there was never a moment where he seemed threatening.

So far, I'm completely meh on the game. I'm currently in the desert of the Race-War level and it's just... Exhausting in the worst kind of way. My wife on the other hand, is more irritated with the game than I am.
First up, the blood has been toned down excessively and they reuse the fucking brutal kills. Two slices is pragmatic, but it's not interesting.
Second, the controls, fuck the dodging nonsense.

Why do companies try to upgrade the actual formula with more shit than needed? Dodge, Block, Parry. Just keep it simple. I actually died a few times due to the enemies mixing it up. Close range faggot using a Blue Attack, long range enemy using a red attack, mid range enemy using a yellow attack. I also noticed that a lot of enemies have no hit reaction to Kratos' attacks. Even the light elves and the dark elves just stand there like " did this ashy nigga just hit me?" i just said fuck it and spammed the Chain-spear-explosion until everything died.

Her irritations are as follows.
Kratos rarely tells Atreus to shut the fuck up and listen. He went from being a stubborn dad with communication problems to a helicopter parent who's losing control.
Odin. This is supposed to be odin? he's a fucking Mel Brooks-tier Jew. Really surprised he didn't offer Kratos a Pastrami on Rye and some Gyros with a Kinish on the side as a peace offering.
Even Valkyrie Elysium, did not do Odin dirty in the design department.

At the end of the day, the best part of the game is the number of people getting mad at the black girl on Twitter. Just say you hate brown people and be done with it. It's like this generation of video game reviewers and critics forgot that liberties exist. You can retell any story , anyway you want , if it's not based off of a true story. Note I am not talking full retard like the Insidious Cinematic Universe, in which the base story was true and everything else is made up.

This is the perfect example of why stylizing the character after the voice actor doesn't work. If it was just voice, I would have been cool with it, but his likeness, especially at this age? No.

Nah, it's quite obvious the new series wants to ape Avengers and will not abandon the gay new cast until they extracted all its worth. Kratos is barely a character anymore, just a vehicle to show how the writers OCs are cool by him saying how brave and strogg they are.

It gets worse with him actually encouraging the reckless behaviour with saying that Atreus can make his own choices despite still being a child. The idea of an ideal male parent has devolved the last 4 years into a yes man that should constantly praise his child and let himself ruin his life with pride.

It's not like it's even hard, Odin can be classic object focused villain that ends up destroying everything in his mad dash to avert the apocalypse. Instead he is a captain planet villain who doesn't has any logical reason for his actions.

Dude if you want to play it, play it. We’re not gonna stop you. Want to enjoy it? Cool, have fun. But I’ve made my own reservations that it’s an overwritten, overproduced, and overrated game that, to me, is just not fun or enjoyable to watch or play. And yes, I have played the game. If you can’t handle disagreement or people riffing on this game then maybe this board isn’t for you. And that’s fine.
 
From what I've seen, this latest installment is just the latest sort of AAA slop game where the play consists mostly of pressing buttons to move between cutscenes while the characters projectile vomit some wannabe Hollywood writer's failed movie screenplay at you. Mayhap, in the next installment, they bring back Anthony Burch to punch up the script with a scene where you get to press X to help prep the bull and then watch from the bedroom corner, shivering, while Loki's mom fucks another guy.

You can tell there's some good elements in the fight too. Like how instead of Odin going all Zeus and getting all big and angry and shit he pulls out a book and then a scroll.

Why couldn't they have made the fight 'shorter' but with more "phases" as Odin literally pulls random shit out of his ass - to showcase he isn't a powerhouse like thor, but still INSANELY hard to fight. Like the book to make the barrier (which he will fucking spam if you/atreus/freya aren't attacking him at all and give him a moment to breathe), a teleporting watsit to teleport and seperate everyone (BECAUSE DUH 3V1 IS UNFAIR, you'd think the All-Father would have a contingency for being surrounded), Ingrid comes in and holds Atreus hostage, he reverses the magic from the noose to effect freya instead - because what kind of retard leaves something that obvious out in the open, and then out of nowhere Odin pulls out a shard of the blade of the olympus (because he fucking did his homework on the ghost of sparta) and shanks kratos with it to absorb his powers (creating the "prophecy" that everyone hinted at, but kratos not dying somehow idfk) which then disables all your rage shit (but not valor) - which could then create the difference this devs wanted from old kratos to new, have angy odin be an undisciplined bitch doing more damage to himself when using rage of sparta than anything and is in fact the only method to damage him in this phase thus creating a FF4 scenario where you have to spam valor and tank his hits while he damages himself.

Fuck, this whole fight could've had sequel baiting too, a god weapon from rome - to show greece has truly fallen and rome has replaced it (which looks oddly like chainblades kratos uses - hinting that there might be two kratoses..kratosii due to GoW2 shenanigans), an ankh of life when odin "dies", and then the battle culminates to the rift turning the area into some eldritch cthulu void shit where Odin goes mad. Since the lovecraftian mythos loves giving "unlimited knowledge" with "unlimited madness" and if they really wanted to hammer how Odin's obsessions are incredibly bad, just add Cthulu.

But nope we got MCU bullshit instead. Like seriously we were hinted that Odin was preparing for Ragnarok, it looked more like he was pissing his ass and got blindsided by his ex-wife, some redheaded retard, and some white bitch.

I would have really liked if the game actually had the consequences of the final battle being dependent on fixing the different realms, so you'd feel like the questing was worth something. It would have justified the whole breaking fate idea, but we can't have multiple endings in a open world title.

The game really feels mechanically like glorified DLC, what did the devs do the last four years besides sucking their own cock?

Unironically, I would’ve liked to have seen that be the next journey, even before 2018.

Then again, if they’re just gonna make the “gods” look like your average Portland neighbors, it doesn’t matter where they go next.
