Marina was born in Moscow, Russia and ... [e]ventually she met her American husband, moved to California .

Well, they did live in CA before and Glo-Glo was born there.
The spokeo crawler site is pretty neat and has all kinds of information

It could be that Marina was a gold-digger with some sugar-daddy husband in CA before, but eventually married Guenter (would make sense since both lived in CA in the early 90s)

Also, I love how the website is full of bad grammar.

Front Page said:
Marina is a fine art painter originally from Moscow. Her art is seen international, and has worked with art all her life.

Maybe Gloria has family/friends in Cali who are normal and that's why she wants to get out there and away from her batshit family. You know, I thought her dad was pretty bad, but her mom seems to be living vicariously though Gloria, so maybe she wants to get away from both of them.

Not that I think it will end up in any museums, but Marina's art is infinitely better than anything I could ever do. It may be that some of the ideas, compositions, outlines and such end up traceable to other art, which would greatly diminish what I'm about to say, but porpoises and unicorns aside, this seems like the greatest example of any originality and talent to come out of this family so far.

I would like to point out that this is a rare picture of pre-Maradonia Gloria, and it is the most genuine smile we have ever seen on her.

I agree, there is a clear difference between the older picture, where she's smiling naturally, and the one below where she looks like she was hit in the face by a splatball made of cosmetics.

The fact she and her mum look so alike is actually creeping me out a little...

I know her parents divorced. Do we know if Gloria is living with her mom or dad? Mom strikes me as the gold-digger type, I wonder if she's using Gloria as bait to attract a creepy but rich suitor since Gerry was a bust. I'm less and less convinced Gloria is a cow and thinking her parents are. Gloria just might be going as best she knows how.

Gloria is a reverse "Ugly Duckling". She started out cute, but grew up into an ugly teenager/adult.

Out of all the things wrong with this picture the towel thrown over the tap bugs me most...

Yes! I love the odd, mysterious, inexplicable details in so many of their choices, and the fact that some of the most trivial of these give some of us night sweats!

Just thinking about what was going through their heads does it for me. Gives me the giggles.

I assume she did it so you can't see the reflection of whoever is taking the photo, but you can see the same fuzzy white blanket she is standing on in the first shot of Gloria (in the same post). It's clearly big enough to have thrown it up over the tap without involving a towel. Or over the actual tub. Or take the picture in a different location Or, or, or, it could go on forever.

Nah, the towel solves everything. :stupid: Perfect.

Is she in the middle or on the left?

She would be the teenage girl on the left.
Finding Nemo came out in 2003 so the painting would likely be after that date.
In 03 Gloria would have been 9 years old and the girl in the middle looks younger.

Do we know anything about he siblings?

On the dedication page of Seven Bridges, she mentions two brothers, Jonathan, who gave her ideas, and Benjamin, her baby brother.
I assume Joey and Benjamin (who appears in Gold of Ophir, didn't see him in a quick scan of Seven Bridges) are based off them, much like Maya's a self insert, but I'd hope that Jonathan isn't at all like Joey.

Oh, of course. That's just what was in her books, I had no plans to look further into it.
