Seconding Cook, Serve, Delicious! Just make sure you're not getting Cook Serve Forever -- they switched from being a typing game to only using arrow keys and I absolutely hate it. It removes all the fun. The original three go on sale pretty often though.
No worries. I saw footage of that game and thought it looked and played like garbage. It also doesn't look nearly as challenging as the other games, either. Clearly, they are trying to reach a different audience, so I hope it flops so that the overall series isn't ruined.

I saw CSD as one of those series where each new entry is worse than the last. I loved the first one, then the second felt too complicated for its own good (or maybe I just wasn’t great at it). I didn’t play the third, but I remember it looking even more complicated and having some thinly-veiled political allegories? Correct me if I’m wrong.
The second game felt unfinished but it's by far the most challenging one to play if you want perfect medals. I'd say it's the worst of the trilogy because the restaurant management portion doesn't really mesh with the "cook for hire" segments and there isn't a feeling of progression like you get in 1 and 3.

CSD3 is only as complicated as you want to make it. You adjust the difficulty by the menu items you choose and how many stations you want to juggle. You can even forgo upgrading your truck for an additional challenge.

I didn't find CSD3 all that bothersome in terms of its politics. The U.S. balkanizes and half the country is nuked (California is a smoking wasteland), but it's largely satirical and I didn't really encounter any heavy-handed preaching or references to current year politicians. The numerous pride flags you can buy to decorate your truck are dumb, but all of that is optional. I think there's a BLM flag, too, but I didn't buy any of that since there are tons of cool decorations I could get instead.

How is it?
I played the demo, and while it seemed good, the movement - both on and off the horse - felt weirdly slow to me. Has that been changed at all?
I haven't tried it yet. I should try the demo before I get it. There's a few other games I am trying to finish up before I move onto to something new.

Me! I didn’t finish it, but I love looooooove the premise so far. I usually don’t care for Lovecraftian horror, but Dredge did a pretty good job of tapping into my fear of the ocean. I feel like I’m probably selling my character’s soul off each time I get my boat upgraded. Don’t see any way it’ll end well.

Have you played any games by Red Candle? They made “Detention” and “Devotion,” two horror titles that play pretty differently but with similar themes about guilt and memory repression. Seems like something you’d really like.

awww I love the Arbiter from Halo and that game is one of my favorites.

Ok I know is not "girly" per se but I really enjoy those
Halo SHOULD be a girl game, or at least have an equally male-female fanbase. I don't understand why it doesn't have more female fans, like other games like Mass Effect do. Makes me sad. I KNOW there are plenty of women out there who would fall in love with the characters, story, world, music, etc. but maybe they have been dissuaded from trying the games because of the gamer guy culture surrounding it (especially the multiplayer side).

Oo no, but I'm adding these to my list right now, thank you! Definitely finish Dredge and let me know what you think.

I am here to shill Scarlet Hollow. It's one of the best games I ever played, and it's not even finished (beware, it's episodic, they finished episode 4 out of 7 and there are years between releases). Made by the same creators as Slay The Princess.
It's a choose-your-own-adventure horror game with soft dating elements. They recently released a massive refresher of the older episodes with a lot of new dialogue and scenes. There is a free demo on Steam.

In the game you are a person who is invited by your distant cousin to her mother's funeral. You and your own mother were estranged from your family, who run a mining corporation in a small empoverished town in the middle of nowhere. Your cousin is hostile, the miners are about to strike, a dead man is stalking you, and local animals are mutating and talking about demons. And you may or may not be autistic.

Choices Matter in this game, in fact they unlock entire new sequences of the story. You choose two personality traits (or three in hardcore mode) at the start of the game which open up more story actions/options. If you choose the trait Powerful build, you will play as a /fit/izen. You can choose the trait Talk to Animals to talk to animals and they are actually useful in advancing the game.

Is it woke? Well, you can play as male, female or they/them (has no effect on the story at all). There is also a heckin' valid enby NPC . He is a flamboyant gay male, which makes me think that the creators don't really understand what enbies usually are and did it just for the Zeitgeist. He is easily avoided, but not a terrible character.

Note: The Steam banner looks terrible and some moids accuse the game of looking Tumblr because of it, but in-game the art is fine imo, and pretty good when the game turns spooky. I can't post too much to avoid spoilers, but you'll get your first helping of horror in the demo.

Does anyone know of a game with dating mechanics but is mostly combat based? Sort of like fire emblem but without being fire emblem. Can be action based or strategy based. Asking for a friend.

Valkyria Chronicles?... Romance of the Three Kingdoms X you can play as a female officer and interact with dramatized historical figures though it's not very deep. Dragon Age Origins is a good one and the Mass Effect games as well. I assume you are asking for games where you play as a female or is a male lead fine as well?

Rune Factory 4 and 5. Earlier Rune Factories have dating but only allow you to marry women, I think.
