I played this game for a few hours years ago and forgot about it. Forgot I even made a thread about it. It was free and I liked the climbing dynamic it was kinda like breath of the wild.

Randomly scrolling the homepage and wtf I see my handle attached to a 160 page thread about an anime game

Forgot this game even existed, I hope everyone here has had fun but this game was too weeb for me.

Came back to the game after around a year break (although I came back to play the sumeru archon quests) and I’m having fun. I pulled Nahida and her weapon when she first came out then fucked off for a while and I pulled her C2 today. It’s so incredibly strong I’m fighting against groups and nearly all the enemies are dying without any input from Yoimiya. I barely comprehend how she works because I have a pea brain and I’m not done building her so I wonder just how far she can go.

As a (somewhat) rehabilitated whale my biggest issue with the game is that they literally nerfed my only C6 limited five star into the ground. I’m a huge Venti simp, he’s my C6 and I have the harp but god is he just absolutely useless post Liyue. Almost none of the other five stars have this problem and it makes me so sad.

Also for some reason I have insane luck in this game. I C6’d Venti for under 300 dollars (hypothetical maximum is 1200). I started playing Yoimiya because I pulled two thundering pulses on the Nahida weapon banner and then pulled Nahida’s weapon. Probably the best run of luck I had. 4CE96681-42C6-4889-92F9-F19166C960B9.jpeg

Anyways I spent the past week on and off reading this thread from the beginning and man it was nostalgic. The Kokomi doomposting was especially cathartic since I’ve always been a fishwife believer, I even used the first anniversary fates on the doughnut (and won). My favorite posts were the doomposting followed by an image of a character sitting in that retarded Google chair, never failed to get a laugh out of me.

I mostly just float through a couple quests here and there. I don't have the time to hard commit to the game anymore, even on weekends. Double now that I reactivated my Final Fantasy XIV sub. But I will always appreciate the fact that meta doesn't matter for 99% of the time

My weapon luck has always been better than my character luck.

I'd like to think I was due an early pity on the character banner, but I know better.

I wish the genshin wish analysis website still worked because man I am astoundingly lucky. I don’t think I’ve ever pulled an off banner weapon from the weapon banner. The three Nahidas I got were all 50/50s with no pity. Weirdly enough the unluckiest thing for me was getting C14 Keqing before getting a single Mona…you don’t know true pain until you see a gold star end up only being 25 star glitter.

Also I pulled up some of my old stats and man it’s only .85% but considering the average is 1% that’s 85% better than average at least I think it is I’m not very good at statistics. Also I have a very large sample size, something around 1000 wishes although these stats
old and I can’t really do a cumulative wish
analysis since Mihoyo deletes everything.

Weapon banner is also nice to me since the hardest weapon to get for me took 50 pulls although I don’t really pull too much from it bc it’s really a money sink and I only get the signature weapons for characters I really like. I was more of a dolphin than a whale now that I think on it.

There is actually a working wish tracker at paimon.moe. I used to use genshin-wishes.com until Mihoyo changed something that broke their importer in Nov 2021. I was able to export my history from genshin-wishes and import it into paimon.moe, so I actually have my entire wish history logged from launch. You could do the same, though you would have a gap in your history.
EDIT: Disregard that I suck cocks, you already know about paimon.moe because you posted a screenshot from it.

I guess while we're on the topic I might as well share my wish history. I've also gotten pretty lucky, with some pain mixed in to even things out. I didn't even want Tartaglia, Zhongli, or Cyno, but they just kept coming. The 3 Raidens in a row are probably my biggest win. I've also managed to walk away from the weapon banner with some really good weapons despite being afraid to wish on it much until recently.

I tried to set it up, & paimon.moe seems great but a pain in the ass to set up on Android thanks to Mihoyo.

So anyone try out Honkai Star Rail? I thought I'd hate it because of turn base but I'm actually having fun.

May be bias since I pulled my beginner banner 5* early (Clara) and got the banner character in 15 pulls (Seele)

The only thing it needs is the ability to turn off voices in the ultimates. Cause dear god with how often you pop them in a normal fight (Non-trash mob autobattle) I may go nuts.

btw i'm currently on 76 pity guarantee and wondering if i should go for nahida c1, nilou or save for haitham or wanderer. Haitham is probably the "most value" here since he's a dps+enabler like childe but his kit is a bit limiting and nahida can just do his job (i also have tighnari).

I'm also looking at my characters now and i realize that i only intentionally roll for supports. The only "true field dps" i have are ayaka who was my first limited 5*, ganyu who i rolled to be ayaka's support and ayato who i only got by accident at 7 pity.

I feel like i'm finally at the point where i can really not give a fuck about "meta" and just roll for fun units. If anyone wants to sell me on those units i mentioned or on one of your favourites help me here. I know Wanderer and itto arent winning any awards but i did play them on my bro account so i know they're fun and i want to get them some day. On the other hand, albedo isnt fun at all but i like the character...

I actually did pre-register (get free shit) but i havent played it yet cause lack of time. Apparently the game has a fuckton of unskipable dialogue and very basic combat so i'll probably get bored fast but i'll at least try. They'll also give 10 free fates april 30.

I heard rumors that the first 20 rolls might be rigged but i dont believe it. The 5* ratings are apparently 0.3% which is fucking hilarious since it's legit half of genshin's which is already pathetic. If it isnt rigged then ya got really lucky.

IDK about Honkai Star Rail, but I remember wanting to try Punishing: Gray Raven but couldn't. This game is about 30GB+ big & takes the most space in my phone. I heard P:GR being no more than 2-4GB big, but if I got too connected to it & this game keeps getting bigger, I'd be hesitant to delete one for the other.

I have personally made a quintessential trio with Zhongli, Raiden, & Ayato. A trio I usually complete with Nahida for Hyperbloom, Ganyu for a Perma-freeze Tazer team (Raiden's skill, mixed with Ayato & Ganyu's Bursts, followed by Ayato's skill), & Kazuya for gathering most enemies & commiting a contained slaughter.

Honestly speaking, I really want the Wanderer on his re-run, just for his flight skill alone. I have a Kazuya, who I don't use as much apart from Crystalfly farming, but it'll be nice to have Wanderer for the same fun I got Kazuya for, also we're getting free Faruzan next update, so there's also that. I kinda wish Kaveh was in the Nahida banner, got the best Claymore animations in the game for me.

Rates are the same as Genshin's. Same pity system as well, with the only real difference being the beginner banner guaranteeing you a 5* in 50 pulls (costing 40), the "weapon" banner being a flat 75/25 on if you get the featured card or not and after 300 wishes on the perm banner you get to choose one of the 5*'s once.

As for the gameplay, I'm finding the loop of figuring out the right characters to bring to break shields fun. It very well could be I needed time away from Genshin and this is filling the void.

zero interest really, but I'm not a company simp anyway. if ZZZ is good I might check it out, but that's probably it

albedo works fine with itto+gorou for the third geo char and to produce shards with low effort. won't be meta but not everything has to be sweaty.

rolling still can suck, want candace and the new 4* for the sake of completion, but I'm like 25 rolls into guaranteed pity... which means either ganyu c1 or baizhu, which I have no real interest in....

Thinking about downloading this on tablet to see what all the fuss is about and I have some questions -

1) Are there any written retard proof guides on how to get your account off the ground and not squander the initial currencies I expect I will be given?
2) How gimped is progression toward decent items/gear/whatever if you are F2P only?
3) How necessary is a controller?
4) Is a constant internet connection required?

1) It can basically be summed up as "any Primogems you get, convert to Intertwined Fates". Those you need for the rotating Banners, and you get Fates for the Standard Banner either as Quest Rewards or for levelling up your characters. Pretty sure the New Player Banner needs 50 total Intertwined Fates, if you manage to get a 5* that's honestly bonus points. Just remember that the Weapon Banner is an actual scam.
2) Believe it or not, Hoyo have done an actually decent job of managing Power Creep - yeah, some puzzles will require Elements you may not have, but those puzzles are very rarely Story Relevant. You can legitimately do most of the open world content F2P - the only things that might be trouble are high level Domains and the Abyss, but those are respectively End Game and an Autism Check.
3) I play on console, so no comment.
4) Yes. I've found that the servers are relatively stable, but see point 3's answer as far as playing on the go.

1) Are there any written retard proof guides on how to get your account off the ground and not squander the initial currencies I expect I will be given?
Not really, but the general rule is don't waste primogems on Acquainted Fates (the blue ones). Outside of that, you can spend your currencies however you'd like without it being considered wasted.
2) How gimped is progression toward decent items/gear/whatever if you are F2P only?
Outside of being able to cover for bad luck when pulling characters, the only difference is F2P are limited in how much grinding they can do every day.
3) How necessary is a controller?
Thats up to player preference. Personally I can't stand playing on mobile, I fumble too much and end up just face tanking everything.
4) Is a constant internet connection required?
Yes, and outside of the super rare hiccup, their servers are good enough that you won't generally suffer. If you don't have access to internet at all though, you can't play.

1. Pretty much never buy blue Fates spend primogems on blue Fates. That's about it and everything else boils down to "what is the current banner character and how much do you want them". In the early to mid-game, absolutely everything works and your shit builds won't get your teeth kicked in; by the time builds/weapons/artifacts really matter you'll have been playing long enough that you really should know what you're doing.
2. The game's difficulty scales as you continually play, and if it gets too hard you can always bump it down a level. A F2P will generally progress as much as a whale because I'm fairly certain even whales don't spend premium currency to regen their energy resource. The only thing you'll be limited on is characters as someone F2P won't be whaling on them, but you'll still manage to acquire quite the roster with saving and planning.
3. I've only ever played on PC, but if you're going to be on a tablet...you may want to use a controller so you're a lot less clumsy.
4. Yes. Servers are very stable unless there's just been a major update.

1. In addition to what everyone else has said about spending your primos, choose what weapons you craft carefully. Weapon billets are very limited and require a lot of time and luck to get more than what is available from guaranteed sources. The only 4 star weapons you'll get outside of wishing are event weapons every other patch and craftables. Before crafting a weapon, make sure you have at least one character and playstyle that you expect to use and know will benefit from that weapon. Consult the community character building guide to see what weapons are good for your favorite characters.
2. F2P doesn't mean no wishing, so you can eventually end up with just about every 4 star character and weapon that you want. It may take a while though, I know I played over a year before I got a single sacrificial sword. Just be strategic about what banners you wish on (and get lucky 8))
3. I play on PC and used a keyboard + mouse for about 5 minutes before permanently switching to controller. That said, I feel like I'm in the minority and most players on PC use KB+M, as evidenced by everyone referring to skills and busts as E and Q constantly.

1. Pretty much never buy blue Fates.
The only caveat to this is there is a monthly shop called the Stardust Exchange that sells 5 per month for your 3* dust. Prioritize the pink fates, but be sure to pick up the blue ones before the shop rotates on the 1st of the month.

For the StarGlitter exchange you will only get this for 4/5 Star weapons/Characters. While you can buy fates here as well, the things you want to save for are the characters (Specifically Bennet/Xingqu/Fischl, though Kaeya and Lisa can only be gotten here and the standard banner and are very rare to get cons for.) and the Blackcliff Sword and Greatsword. (Very low priority over characters)

Thanks everyone. Now to get this verification code to send. It’s really not having it.
Another question. There’s server for each region, can they see each other at all for social stuff/trading if that’s a thing or are they isolated?
Is this one of those games where as a Bong I should pick Mutt server?

All regions are isolated to each other, from progression to social and coop stuffs. No trading in game.

Just play on the one with best connection, unless you already have high-levels friend(s) from other region to help you through out the game. But I'd say you don't have any (to play with), otherwise you wouldn't ask these questions in the first place.
Game isn't dead by any means, it's still very popular so you should find it's easy to ask for high(er) level players in same region to help early game if needed.
I mean don't be shy, be shamelessly asking for help to one-shotting world bosses for character ascension materials. So you can have fun doing other things rather than wasting time.
