An addendum: It always confuses me why people spend large amounts of money on genshin. It's not something like WWE champions where your fat italian gouted ass can just spend to get to the top of the leaderboard. There is no leaderboard, at all. There's also not excessive powercreep or grind either.
You can spend primogems (the premium currency I forgot about) to refresh your resin and grind artifacts (the RPG character building mechanic) a bit faster, but you are actually limited to 5 resin refreshes per day, and it's the most inefficient use of resin anyway. Artifact quality is gated entirely by RNG, there's no way to spend money to increase your chance for a good substat roll, or even a main stat roll.
A long standing f2p account will actually be much stronger than a paying account with like half the playtime, because one has had time to farm artifacts. The only real point to this (the overworld exploration is piss easy and doesn't limit you with DPS checks) is to complete the endgame dungeon area in under 3 minutes per floor, which gives you a total of 600 primogems every 2 weeks. That's not even 10 gacha rolls a month. A ten pull is 1600, so that's not really worth jack shit either.
Literally the only reason to spend money is to get a character you want a little faster, that's it. Or to power up your characters slightly with constellations (hugely inefficient and whale bait since a single ganyu roll is enough to clear the dungeon quickly with a f2p weapon and some good team building knowledge and artifacts). So it is completely just weeb obsession with character designs which fuels the fire and pays the bills at mihoyo. I just thought that was interesting, and further demonstrates why this is a good thread: Cataloguing this retarded obsession.
