Yeah, it was Afa.

Meltzer's legacy was as a great historian, and that's obscured by the circus that is his "journalism" and ratings scale. Especially the goddamn ratings scale.

Always remember: Angle, Mysterio, and Savage never broke 5 stars in their careers. His ratings for AEW matches are nonsense to me.
Even as a historian the only part of value that he has is the stuff about Japanese Wrestling and Lucha Libre. Cornette is definitely better as a historian when it comes to the territories.

I've shared this a few times, but this is one of my favorites when it comes to Da Meltz:

Bret "The Frugal Canadian" Hart. That reminds me of when me and my inner circle of wrestling insider pals used to call Rock Dwayne "The Football Player" Johnson. Of course nobody else ever heard of it outside of us but I swear I'm not making it up. I think Mick "The Hardcore Wrestler" Foley might have known, but that was about it.

Who was it that he reported dead who was still alive?
In fairness, that’s a guy that died like a day later. He was on his deathbed in a hospital. It’s not like he reported the guy and then the guy lived 28 happy healthy years. It was a guy very publicly in the process of dying.

Wrong.

I don’t know how anyone could even think this incorrectly. Of course Mysterio especially in the mid 90s was exactly Dave’s style. I bet you just looked it up one day, but didn’t think to do the other spelling. ctrl f mysterio gets 0.

Anyways, they’re doing this shit

I disagree, but I understand your perspective. I didn't mean to make it come across like this. Rather, I felt it was highly disrespectful to the family at a rough time (a very close-knit family, at that), and came across as ghoulish. Dave just had to be the first to break the story, no class in sight.

SHIT. I am wrong and embarrassed. Ironically I double-checked Angle recently because I thought maybe the match with Benoit at Rumble '03 was 5. I also saw a state regarding 5-star matches in WWE, and completely blanked on that mid-90's SoCal Lucha Libre movement. Of course he did. You're right, it was an amateur mistake on my part. I will be checking my stats on stuff like this from now on. Again, sorry for shitting up the thread. I was really buffoonishly confident there.
